Story

Mia is a sweet girl who wants to play. She will be hesitant with a new person but will grow to love you. She is protective of her humans. She is a bit reactive. She wants to keep her people safe. We have had a small dog, 8 yrs old, in our home as well. Mia wants to play all the time. We have dog sat for a friend often and she is boldly playful with other dogs. She has also been to our local kennel. She LOVES to be outside. She does respond to a beep collar. She is a snuggler and likes to sleep with you but we have kenneled her at night. She is treat and ball oriented. Loves to play with her “chuck-it”. She was kenneled during the day with breaks but has gone a day as well but normally out when we are home. She will come with her leash, harness, toys, bed, kennel, and food. We just want her to be in a home with a large fenced in yard where she will not get bored.

Talulah was brought to the shelter as a stray smelling like a barn and stained yellow. She came in with a pup companion (Elly May) and there`s no sugar coating it, these 2 gals are SKITTISH. We don`t know what she experienced in her former home, but you can see that she WANTS to let her guard down. If you sit patiently, Talulah will sneak up from behind to check you out and accept some pets. If you come right at her, or chase her down, she`s going to run like the wind. In all her time here, she has never growled or nipped or barked in anger.. if she can`t flee, she freezes.Talulah and Elly May have come a long way in socialization, and are looking for the right person to continue to work on teaching them what it`s like to be a carefree happy pup.She keeps to herself, for the most part, but has snuck a sniff of passing pups, and we believe she would do well with a canine sibling to help show her the way. On 7/06/26 Butterball found his way to our shelter after being coaxed from a ditch by someone who had the patience and kindness to bring him to us. When we saw Butterball, we saw a scared boy who just wanted and needed a second chance. We cannot begin to thank fellow staff, our Vet, and volunteers who have worked with Butterball to help light the fire back in his soul and turn a scared, hurt, and suffering animal into the kind, playful, and brave boy he is today. Now, it`s time for the community to hear what we`ve learned about this special boy and apply if he sounds like the perfect boy for you!Butterball is estimated to be roughly 4 years old and weighs about 55 pounds. He has not met any other dogs, but he is reactive and overwhelmed by any passing. Butterball seems very interested in cats with the same reaction. Butterball LOVES his toys and treats. He`ll play for hours if you let him and he takes treats so gently now. Butterball is a big goof who brings endless smiles wherever he goes. He loves exploring and is very curious so he would need a home with someone who has the energy to keep up! His skin issue when he came was a combination of fleas, ticks, and yeast build up. After weekly medicated baths and preventative, he has come so far!If Butterball sounds like he would fit in your home, then stop in to say hi and fill out an application!

Rocky is a friendly, loving fella who may come off timid at first, but once you give him a few minutes to warm up he’s an outgoing goofball! Around 1 year old, this happy guy enjoys giving “hugs” where he wraps his paws around you. In his previous home, he did live with cats and other pups. But as always a meet & greet is necessary before he joins a family with another canine. He does a great job keeping his kennel clean here as well! We think Rocky would make an excellent addition to just about any family.
