Story
Fiona is a 7-year-old chocolate lab who has been part of our family since she was 5 months old. She's a very friendly dog, enjoys the outdoors (especially the water and snow!), and loves attention (and belly rubs!). She's also very energetic and always wants to greet people! Fiona is potty-trained and has been trained to be outside on a leash, but also does well in a fenced area. When it comes to interacting with other dogs, she does well and usually keeps to herself. Fiona has never been exposed to cats (or any other pet, except for other dogs). I am looking for a new home for Fiona... an adopter who is looking for a long-term pet, wanting a furry friend with lots of energy and excitement.

Story
I rescued Jayda almost 7 years ago, I adopted her at the Fox Valley Humane Society. She was part of a neglect and abuse case in TN. Now she’s almost 10 years old, she’s very much an alpha. She’s a sweet, cuddly, love bug that loves to lay on the couch all day. She would prefer to be the only dog in the house or with small dogs/cats. Within the last year my boyfriend and I moved in together, he also has two large dogs. One of my boyfriend’s dogs is very much an alpha as well. Jayda and him have never gotten along together. Constantly growling and displays of dominance to each other. We try to keep them separated as much as possible but we live in a small house. When our daughter came along we were nervous of how Jayda would react with the now constant noise. Every time our daughter would cry Jayda would run off into our bedroom and non stop shake. She would be in our room for hours and never come out for hours. Our household has become to stressful for her. Please contact me with any ?

Story
Meet Teddy, the adorable dude with a heart as big as his love for tennis balls! He’s a tidy little guy who keeps his space neat and loves snuggling up with his likimat, toys, blankets, and of coursehis favorite people! Teddy is a total goofball who enjoys a good game of fetch and a puzzle feeder challenge. He’s a quick learner, always happy to please, and easy to correct when needed (because he’s got a good head on those shoulders!). While Teddy is mostly quiet in his room, he’ll let you know if he needs a potty break or spots a fellow dog friend (he's a bit dog-selective, especially through fences). But he’s quick to get back on track with a little guidance. This playful, affectionate boy just wants to be loved and is ready to shower you with all his goofy, cuddly energy. He’s a pro at sitting, staying, and heeling and he’ll happily show off his skills. If you’re looking for a fun, loyal, and loveable companion, Teddy’s your guy!

Story
Meet Shaw! Shaw is an energetic, playful, and super sweet boy who is fully potty trained and very well-behaved in the house. He doesn’t need to be crated when you leave, rarely barks, and loves to curl up on the couch with soft blankets. He knows sit, shake, and wait, and sleeps in his crate at night. Shaw LOVES toys, especially balls, and is great at fetch and jumping to catch. He’ll bring toys to you when he wants to play or entertain himself pushing them around. He’s a cuddly guy who loves to rest his head on you… but he’s also a big licker! Giving him a toy helps redirect his excitement so he can enjoy calm snuggles. Shaw can be nervous with new people and needs slow introductions, especially inside the home. He currently lives with kids 10 and 14, but can be anxious around younger or unfamiliar children. Treats, toys, and being ignored at first help him warm up. He’s much more comfortable meeting new people out and about and at our adoption center and meets new dogs easily. Speaking of dogs, Shaw loves them. A playful dog companion would be ideal to help build his confidence and keep him busy. He enjoys walks, has lots of energy, and would do great with an active family. A fenced yard is a bonus, but he also does well on a tie-out. Shaw is goofy, affectionate, athletic, and so much fun. He just needs a patient, understanding home with older kids and a playful dog friend. Once he trusts you, he’ll be your loyal, loving, cuddly buddy.

Meet Darlene, a sweet little pup who’s a bit shy at first but has a heart full of love once she warms up. Her roomate, Theo, is helping her build her confidence and have more fun with every day. So another confident dog in the home would be a bonus for her. Darlene is all about toys, food, and treats, she’s got a big smile that she flashes often, and it’s guaranteed to melt your heart. She might play a little hard to get when it’s time to come inside, but once you catch her, she’ll melt right into you with her tail wagging like crazy! Darlene’s also a potty training pro, she’s got that down with no problem. This sweet girl is ready to bring a little sunshine into your life with her joyful personality!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Draco is a very good boy with a wonderful, easygoing personality. He does great in a crate when you need to step out and is well-mannered on walks. He understands commands and is overall a well-behaved, eager-to-please companion. He’s done well with teenagers and shows no concerning behaviors around people, strangers included. At the Sanctuary, Draco has been around dogs of all sizes and ages and has done wonderfully with everyone. Cats are still an unknown for Draco and would likely require some guidance and training, so a cat-free home would be ideal for him. When it’s time to relax, Draco is all about the cuddles, especially during TV time. He enjoys toys, though he’s perfectly happy to skip them if something more interesting is going on. He has a medium-to-low energy level, making him adaptable to many home environments. Handsome, loving, playful, and gentle, Draco has a beautiful soul and an excellent demeanor. He’s truly an all-around great dog who’s ready to make someone very happy.
