Story
Frankie, who was once known as Stew, has returned to DHS because his owner's health issues limiting his ability to care for him. Frankie is house and kennel trained. He is good with cats and dogs, as he grew up with both. Frankie does well with children, but he is very large/hyper and doesn't realize how big he is. Frankie needs some help learning good dog manners, leash training and more commands, but he is smart as a whip, and picks up things quickly! This boy is very active; he would do amazing with hiking, camping, and exploring the world! Frankie would really benefit from a foster home, the shelter life is too overwhelming for Frankie and at his age, he deserves a great life outside of the shelter while he waits for his forever person! “I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Iggy was adopted from us as a 8-week old pup, she is now almost 2 years old and has been returned due to the family having to move to city living, and Iggy was not adjusting well. Iggy is used to free roaming on 12 acres, and not being restricted to an apartment. Iggy is a very big girl, weighing in over 100lbs. She has basic manners and is house-trained. She was crated as a puppy, but has not used one for a long time. She walks super well on a leash and is a favorite among our dog walkers! Iggy was raised with another dog, but has not been with dogs outside the home, slow meet and-greets would be essential for proper introductions. She cannot live with small dogs, cats,or other small furry pets. Iggy has an aloof personality, and takes her time getting to know new people, slow greets are what works best for her. She has been doing great here at the shelter, loves her walks, and doesn't have any reactions to other dogs, people, cars, or amish buggies. Iggy keeps her kennel clean and enjoys her toys. She was a great girl for the vet, getting her treat of Cool Whip while she received her vaccines. “I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
TIMBERS ADOPTION FEE HAS BEEN SPONSORED!! Timber, a 2.5-year-old German Shepherd who is very active and is looking for a home to keep her mind/body busy and happy! Timber would excel as a hiking partner, but also a cuddly couch companion! This beautiful girl is a looker and has an amazing personality to match! Timber is crate and house trained, a leash-walking pro, and is doing great at learning basic commands. She will do anything she is asked for a tasty treat! She is a very active girl who needs plenty of exercise to keep her happy. Timber does need to be the only pet in the home, no small animals or other dogs. “I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Journey

Anatolian Shepherd Shepherd (Unknown Type)

Male, 3 yrs

Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Journey has an unknown past, he was picked up on the side of the road, kept for a week, and released back where he was found. He then went to a home and made himself a comfy spot on their porch for a week, befriending the lady in the home. Journey seems to be unsure of strangers, but with his little known past, we cannot blame him for not being outgoing in the shelter setting. He is a very big guy, weighing more than 100lbs. He seemed to do well in a crate, but does prefer to be outside. Journey came to us neutered, so at some point in his life he was well loved. We will update Journey's bio as we learn more about him!

Story
Clyde and his buddy Bonnie have an interesting life story from what we know! They were running free on the mission in BRF from Dec- June. They were then captured and taken to Jackson County Humane Society. These two are so awesome! We are not sure if Bonnie is mom? sister? But they were guesstimated to be the same age, so we are guessing siblings! Both of these love bugs seem to do well with other dogs, with slow meet and greets. Clyde is shyer than Bonnie, but he is a very social boy with humans. They are both doing well with leash manners and basic skills. They keep their kennels clean and prefer to potty in the grass. At this time we are not requesting that they are adopted together, they seem to do well without each other, and will bond better with their humans if adopted out seperately. “I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Nikita FKA: Pistachio

Anatolian Shepherd Great Pyrenees

Female, 2 yrs 3 mos
Viroqua, WI
Size
(when grown) X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Nikita was once known to DHS as Pistachio. She was adopted as a puppy and recently returned due to no fault of her own. Nikita is house and kennel trained. She has lived with other dogs and does well, as long as she has toys/bones/food separately from the other dogs. She has done super well here with staff and volunteers. Walks all around town, and is super social with people. She has a blast outside running around and playing. She is learning some basic manners and is a quick learner! Nikita may do well as a city dog, if she has plenty of outlets for her energy, but she would prefer a home in the country with lots of room to run around, and a home to watch over. “I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle me into your home.
