ATLAS: TWO RETURNS, ONE BIG DREAM OF FOREVER
He’s been given up on twice. We’re determined to make sure the third time is FOREVER.
Atlas hasn’t even celebrated his second birthday, yet he’s already experienced more heartbreak and uncertainty than any dog should have to endure.
Atlas came into our rescue at just 3 months old, a sweet little Pitbull mix puppy with his whole life ahead of him. He was adopted shortly after, but just a few months later, he was returned.
A few months passed, and Atlas got another chance at forever. Another family. Another fresh start.
And AGAIN, he was returned.
Two adoptions. Two returns. All before his first birthday.
No dog deserves to be bounced from home to home, especially during such an important time in their development. And through it all, Atlas has been left trying to figure out where he belongs.
But here’s where his story gets GOOD.
SECOND CHANCE TO SHINE!
For the past year, Atlas has been part of our Second Chance to Shine training program, working HARD to build his confidence, overcome his occasional stranger danger, and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place.
And this boy has made incredible progress!
Here’s what you should know about Atlas:
DOB: 11/27/2024 Breed: Pitbull Mix Personality: Sweet, silly, playful, and full of love once he feels comfortable!
People: Atlas tends to feel more comfortable with women initially, but with patience, time, and understanding, he does well with men too. He just needs the opportunity to build trust at his own pace.
Other Dogs: Atlas does well with other dogs when given proper introductions. And really, shouldn’t ALL dogs be given that courtesy? He could also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one-and-only!
His Ideal Home: Someone who understands that trust isn’t always instant. Someone willing to continue the work he’s already put in. Someone who sees the incredible dog he IS rather than the uncertainty of his past.
Most importantly, someone who won’t give up on him.
