Story
Hi! My name is Malachi and I am 4 years old. My friends at CRHS did a DNA test on my and it turns out I'm 38.9% American Pit Bull Terrier, 34.7% German Shepherd, and 26.4% Border Collie! I am microchipped, heartworm tested, neutered, and current on my vaccines. 3 words that describe me: Athletic, Affectionate, Energetic Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I'm a big boy with lots of energy! I love zooming around the yard at CRHS. I'm also very affectionate and will demand pets by putting my head under your arm. I can be a little reserved of new people, but once I get to know you I'll be your bff! I will do ANYTHING for a tasty snack! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10) 8/10 Housetraining Status: I'm still working on it, but with a consistent schedule I should catch on fast! I should do well in a home: I am required to meet any and all children and dogs in my potential home before adoption. I have never met a cat before so my humans don’t know how I will be around them. My favorite activities are: Getting love and affection is the best, I will come sit between your legs and lean on you. I also really love to play, especially with squeaky toys. Things I need work on are: I am a big boy who isn't always aware of my strength and size, so some basic training would help. I could also work on my housetraining and sometimes I pull on leash when excited. Any special needs: None Doggy day out notes: "He's the sweetest boy. LOVES the snow. Loves pup cups, treats, snuggles and stuffies. He's happy just being near his people. Great in the car, great in the pup cup drive thru. He just wants love. He is a completely different dog after some positive reinforcement, love, cuddles, and rewards for his good behavior." " Malachi did super on his DD outing! He did great going through a couple of drive thru's and with men and women we encountered. He loved being at the house gnawing on a bone and playing with a toy. Malachi is very sweet, friendly and he always does great being out! He is a favorite of mine to have out. Love this boy! He will do great in a home setting! Adopt Malachi💙" "Malachi did super on his DD outing! He loves being out exploring and sniffing at everything on walks! He does pretty good leash walking but would prefer to sniff. Malachi loves attention & affection from his human and he likes to snuggle right up to you putting his head in your lap. He will definitely make a very nice addition to a family and/or person💙" "Malachi did super on his DD outing! He loves walks and does great on them. This boy loves to explore and sniff! We went shopping at Wags and Whiskers where he picked out for himself a pigs ear and a jerky stick which he showed down on both. Malachi is such a calm, mellow pup and once he warms up to you your his fav human who he loves getting affection from. Malachi will definitely make a great companion for a person/family and will thrive in a home environment 💙" "He is such a happy dog and he jumped up and gave me a hug when he saw me. We took him to the pet store and he picked out a toy and a treat. He was really good with everyone he saw men, women and kids. He takes treats very gentle. He walks good on leash. He was really good in my truck he looked out the window and laid down and took a nap. He got a pup cup and was really good at the drive thru. He played with his toy a little bit but was definitely more interested in his pig ear. He's a great dog and calms down quickly and relaxes when he is out and away from the shelter and gets comfortable. He loves to give kisses and lean his head on your lap or shoulder. He is a great dog. We love Malachi." Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $100 Training Requirement if applicable: none *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hi there, I'm Unity! I'm a 4-month-old female pit bull terrier. I am current on my vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Playful, Curious, Affectionate Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I love running around being a cute little puppy and playing with my siblings. I should make a great companion in any home. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 5/10 Housetraining Status: I am a puppy so I am working on it! I should do well in a home: I should do well with children of all ages given proper supervision. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: I love playing with my foster sister Toulouse. We have a great time together playing, chasing, and cuddling afterwards! Things I need work on are: I am a puppy so I will need to work on my housetraining, basic commands, and leash walking. Words from Unity's Foster: "Unity is settling in wonderfully. She gets along with Toulouse and is such a sweet and playful girl. Doesn't mind the crate, loves to snuggle, and seems to be 75% potty trained already. She wants to go outside and gives cues of when she needs to go. Rode in the car nicely and doesn't beg. Mostly quiet so it's a surprise when she does use her voice. " Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: "She was super good overall. She was super sweet and cuddly. We are super impressed with how good of a walker she was for being so young. She didn’t need much direction at all. She didn’t nibble at all. She only barked a few times at the rocks. She’s very curious but not overly so. Loved her!!" "Unity was such a sweetheart. She was active outside on this beautiful day! She then got very sleepy and took a nap in my lap 🥺 so precious." Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $350 Training Requirement if applicable: $100 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Greetings, my name is Ella! I'm a 7-year-old female Labrador/Pit Bull Terrier mix. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, spayed, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Playful, Friendly, Active Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I love getting attention and affection from humans. I just like being involved with whatever they're doing! I also love playing with toys, whether they're the hard ones I can gnaw on or soft ones I can rip apart! I may be a senior lady but I still have a good amount of energy and love going for walks. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 6/10 Housetraining Status: I have been good at keeping my kennel clean, however it may take some time for me to adjust to a new schedule. I should do well in a home: I am required to meet any kids or other dogs in my potential home. I played with the cats in my previous home. My favorite activities are: Being with my humans and chewing on toys. Things I need work on are: I could touch up on some of my basic commands. I pull a bit on the leash when I'm excited. Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: "Ella was such a sweetheart. She was very excited to be out and about especially with all the activity going on around us. She did very well seeing dogs and people from afar. She really was interested in the kids running around and playing. It was hard to get her to focus on us with all the stuff going on but as soon as we got toys for her she was loving playing with us. She might be older but she is still very playful! Her walking manners were a little rough at the start because of her excitement but once she got a little tired out she walked perfectly!" "Ella was very excited in the car. She was good on her walk and is very interested in people, but will listen to you. She loves to play with toys and will be by your side the entire time." "She did very well. Encountered two other dogs in the store and while she looked at them, she showed no signs of aggression just curiosity. She got pets from a lot of people and even some questions about where she’s from when they saw the adopt me leash." "First we stopped at petsmart and got a ball (didn’t know it squeaked until we got in the car) she was originally whining quite a bit when we first left the shelter — I think she was excited, but once she had the ball in the car she calmed down and just squeaked it next my ear while I drove lol. We ended up going to a park for a bit even though it was raining and we ran around there, and I let her sniff around for a bit. We then hung out at my apartment and played with the ball and just chilled. Ella did amazing, she definitely loves tennis balls, even better if they squeak. She has a lot of energy, but is so sweet." Story
Have you lapsed on that New Years resolution to go for more walks, spend more time in nature, or become a runner? Are you looking for an accountability buddy to stop you from saying, "Eh, maybe next year?" Our girl Nova would love nothing more than to be the one who's by your side every step of the way on those walks, hikes, runs, or any other dog-friendly physical activities. If you're looking for motivation, then Nova is looking for you! Nova is current on her vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. Her personality can be summed up with three words: Athletic, Confident, and EXTROVERTED! Staff and volunteers say that there is no one that Nova doesn't want to meet, and of course, play with. Nova's energy level is certainly a 9 out of 10. Of course she'll be ready for some good cuddles once she gets her surplus of energy out, but she is still a large older puppy on the very cusp of adulthood! She is working on her housetraining, with quite a bit of success! In any new environment she will require some patience as she adjusts to a new routine. She should do well in a home with children of all ages given proper introductions and appropriate supervision at first, considering her large size and energy level. Due to her exuberant playstyle, she is required to meet any future dog siblings, as some dogs may not tolerate her love for rough-housing. We are unsure how Nova would do with cats. Nova's favorite activities include: Playing with any and all toys (Especially rope toys), running like the wind, chasing her tail, and getting her butt scratched. Things she'll need to work on include: manners on leash, realizing her size/strength, and basic commands. She knows Sit, Down, Speak, and is working on "Shake." She also knows her name, and comes when she is called! Doggy Day Out Notes: "She did great! She was a little nervous at first, as to be expected. Once she was able to move around a bunch and burn some energy off, she calmed down a bunch. Her car riding ability got really good throughout the day and even laid down for a bit in the front seat!" "Nova really enjoyed her DD outing today! She has a lot of energy so we went on a walk, hike and played back at the house! She is very friendly towards humans and wanted to say 'Hi' to everyone who came across our paths. I love Nova's playful side and that comes out with having a good rope toy to play with! Such a sweet, outgoing gal who was so much fun to hang out with🩷" "Today nova and I went on 3 walks! Unfortunately it was raining, but that didn’t stop us. We curled up together on my bed and practiced some tricks. Nova was very eager to please! I was very much expecting nova to be very high energy, but part way through the day, her whole demeanor changed and she calmed down. From today’s experience, I feel that she gets excited when meeting new people and doing new things, but calms down relatively fast and fully relaxes. Nova practiced her tricks and was very eager to please." Any special needs: Dog Meet Required Nova's adoption fee is: $300 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal
