Story

Hi, I'm Cash! I'm a 2-year-old male heeler. I am current on my vaccines, neutered, and soon to be heartworm tested and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Friendly, Curious, Affectionate Words from Cash's foster mom: Cash is doing great in our home! He is fantastic with our dog and family. It is incredible to see how much things have changed for Cash in just one week. He went potty in the house the first two days, but he's done perfectly since then.?? We could hardly get him in the door that first night, and now he's coming up to us for pets and licks. He loves the crate and spends most of his day in there, but he relaxed outside of the crate for a little more than an hour the past two evenings. We bring the crate into our bedroom every night, and he loves sleeping in the same room. He is still skittish from time to time, but overall he seems happy and comfortable. I was brought to CRHS after being rescued from a large scale animal neglect case in Juneau County where around 80 other dogs were saved. Due to my rough start, I am a bit of a shy guy. I would appreciate a calm living environment and my forever family will need to be willing to take things at my pace. Once I get to know you I'm super friendly and affectionate. I'll be a lap dog in no time! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: Foster family says after a couple of days he does well!! I should do well in a home: Due to my nervous temperament any children in my potential home will need to be 5 years or older. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: Getting affection, going for walks, and enjoying the outdoors! Things I need work on are: Learning what everything is in this big world is/learning how to be a dog, basic commands. I am microchipped, heartworm tested, neutered, and current on my vaccines. 3 words that describe me: Affectionate, Playful, Energetic Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I'm a big boy with lots of energy! I love zooming around the yard at CRHS. I'm also very affectionate and will demand pets by putting my head under your arm. I can be a little reserved of new people, but once I get to know you I'll be your bff! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10) 8/10 Housetraining Status: I'm still working on it, but with a consistent schedule I should catch on fast! I should do well in a home: Any children in my potential home will need to be 13 years or older. I am required to meet all dogs in my potential home before adoption. I have never met a cat before so my humans don’t know how I will be around them. My favorite activities are: Getting love and affection. I will come sit between your legs and lean on you. I also really love to play with my people, especially with squeaky toys. Things I need work on are: I am a big boy who isn't aware of my strength and size, so some basic training would help so I'm not so jumpy when excited. I also tend to pull on the leash. Any special needs: None Doggy day out notes: "He's the sweetest boy. LOVES the snow. Loves pup cups, treats, snuggles and stuffies. He's happy just being near his people. Great in the car, great in the pup cup drive thru. He just wants love. He is a completely different dog after some positive reinforcement, love, cuddles, and rewards for his good behavior." "Malachi was an absolute joy to have today! He was a little nervous at first but it didn't take him long to settle in. He saw a good mix of people including young kids to early pre-teen ages. He let a number of people approach for a closer look and was receptive to petting. He was curious of other dogs but we still kept a safe distance. He did bark a tad bit at some larger me who were walking the other way on a trail but it was very short lived. I would assume he may be a bit more trusting of women. All in all, he conducted himself extremely well. It would be a pleasure to take him out again!" "Malachi did so good on his doggy day out! He enjoyed car rides and pets/cuddles more than his hike and trail walks. He is extremely laid back and affectionate. Malachi was curious about the other adults, dogs and the world around him. He was also really excited to meet a lady on our walk. Overall he s such a sweet and living pup that is just happy getting love and attention :)" "He is such a happy dog and he jumped up and gave me a hug when he saw me. We took him to the pet store and he picked out a toy and a treat. He was really good with everyone he saw men, women and kids. He takes treats very gentle. He walks good on leashe. He was really good in my truck he looked out the window and laid down and took a nap. He got a pup cup and was really good at the drive thru. He played with his toy a little bit but was definitely more interested in his pig ear. Hes a great dog and calms down quickly and relaxes when he is out and away from the shelter and gets comfortable. He loves to give kisses and lean his head on your lap or shoulder. He is a great dog. We love Malachi."
