Hi my name is Gracie and I am 4.5 yrs old and a purebred great dane blue harlequin. I absolutely love spending time with family and following you around everywhere. I love going on walks and like car rides also . I love to run and play . I do great with children and cats. I would probably be better in a home with no other dogs as I can get a little territorial and have gone after my current dog I have grown up with .

Story
Introducing Thor, Outgoing Couch Potato Affectionate Endearing Hey there, I'm Thor, and I'm excited to share a bit about myself with you! So, let's start with my forever home. While a physical fence isn't a must, it's definitely recommended to ensure my safety. I enjoy being outdoors and even taught myself how to open sliding doors! I'm crate-trained, but honestly, I do pretty well with free roam when my foster family is out. No need to worry about me causing any trouble – I'm a good boy! When it comes to people, I'm fine with all adults. No jumping or rowdiness here – I like to keep it classy. Recently, I was taken to a pet expo, and I must say, I handled it like a champ. Meeting people is fun and all, but sometimes I just need a break to nap and recharge. Now, children – I haven't been around them much in a home environment, but I did well with them at events. Still, due to my size, it's probably best to steer clear of small children. I'm great with other dogs, though. We'll play and have fun, or just cozy up for a nap on the couch together. Cats are a bit of a mystery to me, so slow and structured introductions will be necessary. I am being trained to be consistent with commands, treats are a big help. Sitting when I come in the house from playing,is how I now enter my foster home. No more bolting into the house at 100 miles an hour for me! l also do well coming when called when playing within a fenced yard. If I am in the middle of a nap, I might just SNORE at you instead of listening right away – sorry! Housebroken? You bet! I will let you know by going to the door and maybe a bark, but I usually sleep all night. And when I am really tired or feeling overwhelmed, I might get a little grumpy with other dogs in my face, but if I just lay down and take a rest it doesn't take me long to be ready to socialize. I do sometimes bark in the house when I hear a noise outside, but I calm down quickly when reassured.  Meeting my humans for pets and hugs when they come home, going on walks (with other dogs or just my humans), playing with toys, and taking naps are a few of my favorite things. Health-wise, I've had a UTI infection before, but it was treated with antibiotics. I also have eyelashes that turn inward, but no treatment is needed – just keeping an eye on them to make sure they aren’t causing me issues. I’m ready to find my forever home and think I'd make a great companion for a family! With his gentle nature and loving personality, Thor is sure to make a wonderful companion for a family seeking a loyal and affectionate pet. Whether he's enjoying a leisurely walk, snuggling on the couch, or simply basking in the company of his humans, Thor is sure to bring joy and happiness to his forever home. If you are ready to welcome Thor into your home, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. Story
Introducing Nox, Goofy Affectionate Energetic Resilient Hey there, I'm Nox, but my friends like to call me Noxy Noodle! Let me tell you a bit about myself. While a physical fence isn't a must for my forever home, I should always be leashed when we're out and about. I'm crate-trained and feel most comfortable when my other doggy pals are nearby. Being crated for up to 6 hours is no problem for me, and I've got the whole housebroken thing down too. Now, as for my personality, I'm a people lover through and through. As a former stray, my past is a bit of a mystery, but one thing's for sure – I adore everyone I meet. Seriously, I'll walk right up to you and lean my whole body against you for pets. People always say how incredibly sweet I am, and I can't argue with that! Currently, I'm living it up with some other Great Danes and even hit up a structured dog daycare regularly. I'm a bit of a derpy, rough play partner with my big friends, but I thrive when I'm around playful or tolerant dogs. Cats are a bit of a question mark for me, but I'm doing well with the "leave it" and "back" commands. When it comes to commands, I came in with zero knowledge, but I've been a quick learner. I now know sit, down, leave it, come, back, gentle, kennel, and stay. Grooming? No problem – baths and ear cleanings are right up my alley, though I'm still warming up to nail trims. Leash manners are a work in progress, but I do best with a slip lead. In new places, I can be a little shy at first, but with some repeated exposure and positive experiences, I warm up quickly. I'm an excellent "supervisor" and would happily follow you around the house everywhere you go. You'll never be alone with me around! Food and treats are my absolute favorite, which makes training a breeze. I love napping on the couch with my pals, and cuddling up in bed with my foster mom. Now, about those front legs – they might look a bit different, but they haven't slowed me down one bit. The vet says I likely had some damage to my growth plates when I was younger, but I'm doing just fine. I'd do well in a home with large breed experience, especially if there's a playful or tolerant dog friend for me to romp around with. I've come a long way from being an emaciated stray, and I've got so much love to give to my forever family. Nox would thrive in a loving and attentive home with large breed experience. He'd love to have a playful dog friend to wrestle and play tag with. Nox is ready to embark on the next chapter of his journey with a family who will cherish him unconditionally. If you are ready to welcome Nox into your home, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter/foster with UMGDR, please contact Nox’s Placement Coordinator at lindsay@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. This youthful Dane is currently located in Sun Prairie, WI. If Nox’s adoptive family lives in the Madison, WI area, Duncan’s Dog Daycare will give you 3 months of free daycare and training. ##1881034##

Story
Introducing Ares! Smart Loving Charming Courageous  Ares is one half of an extraordinary pair of Great Danes who embody resilience, charm, and boundless love. Ares and his sister, Luna, are ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives with you. This magnificent, white Great Dane has a heart as big as his towering stature. Despite facing life with limited vision and the absence of sound, he has adjusted to life in his foster home well with additional support from his sister. This gentle giant is patiently waiting to shower his forever family with affection. His disability is no obstacle to his spirit or his potential to be a cherished family member. In fact, it's his unique qualities that make him even more endearing. What truly sets this remarkable Great Dane apart is his incredible bond with his sister. Their connection is nothing short of beautiful. These two have a special language of their own, and they lean on each other for support and companionship. Adopting them together will ensure that they continue to thrive in a loving and nurturing home. These two gentle giants can be the perfect addition to your family and can do well in a household with cats and older children. Both dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. Their foster family has also noted they do well during care rides. A physical fence and minimal steps are required due to them having difficulty with hearing and vision. Neither dog has any medical/health concerns, but Ares occasionally requires an ointment for his eye. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pair of siblings? If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Ares & Luna’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about them. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. This awesome duo is currently located in Presque Isle, WI. Since Ares and Luna need to be adopted together, the combined adoption fee is $430.10. ##1579465##

Story
Introducing Thanos, now called Louie Curious Easy-Going Friendly Snuggly Hey there, I'm Louie, and I'm here to tell you all about myself! First off, let's talk about my forever home. It's gotta have a physical fence – I like to explore and investigate, so having a safe space to roam is important to me. Speaking of exploring, I've racked up quite a few frequent flier miles in my time with my original owner. But now, I'm ready to settle down and find my forever family. I'm a good boy, but I can't help being curious. Smells and noises just beg to be investigated! Luckily, I'm housebroken and crate-trained, so I know how to behave when my humans are away. I prefer lounging on my dog bed, but I'll tolerate being crated if I have to. Outgoing and friendly – that's me! I've made friends with all sorts of folks, from shelter staff to animal control officers. And don't even get me started on how well I did at the vet – they couldn't get enough of me! Now, when it comes to other furry friends, I've got limited experience with cats. I did try to chase one once, but I'm learning to be more chill. Slow and structured introductions will be key. I get super excited when meeting new dogs and my curiosity may be a bit overwhelming to smaller dogs. Introductions should be slow and outdoors. As for commands, I'm getting there. I understand a bunch of them, but let's just say I have a mind of my own sometimes. Food definitely helps motivate me to listen, though! Snuggles, daily strolls, chew toys, and my dog bed – those are a few of my favorite things. Baths, vet visits, and car rides? No problem! But I'd rather not wear an e-collar or be crated if I can help it. I've been through some tough times – lost weight, calluses, scars, you name it. But I'm a trooper, and I'm working hard to get healthy again. Neutering can wait until I'm feeling better, too. Kids? I may have had some in my previous home, but I haven't had any experience with them with my foster family. So, slow and structured introductions will be necessary. When it comes down to it, I just want to be with my favorite humans as much as possible. If you’re wearing a jacket, I’ll try to shimmy my way into it to get those snuggles and pets! Oh, and did I mention I get cold easily? A dog hoodie or sweater is right up my alley. So if you're looking for a furry friend who's curious, friendly, and enjoys a good snuggle, look no further – I'm your guy! If you're seeking a loyal and affectionate companion who's always up for an adventure, Louie may be the perfect fit for your home. With his playful spirit and loving disposition, he's ready to embark on life's journey by your side. To provide a loving forever home to this affectionate Great Dane, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. Story
Introducing Duke Outdoorsy Playful Affectionate Snuggly Personality: Duke is a loyal and protective dog with boundless energy. He's always on the move and is eager to explore and engage with his environment. Despite his busy nature, Duke is incredibly smart making him a joy to train and interact with. He enjoys entertaining himself with rope toys and squeaky toys. He's also a fan of hugs and pets, often seeking attention from his favorite humans. Duke LOVES spending time outdoors. Home Requirements: While a physical fence is highly recommended, it's not a strict requirement for Duke's forever home. He's crate-trained and housebroken, making him a well-behaved companion indoors. Duke gets nervous around young children. He is more comfortable around older kids such as 12 years of age. His forever home needs to have older or no children. Duke thrives in an environment where he's given plenty of attention and mental stimulation. He has no experience with cats or other small animals, so slow and intentional introductions will be necessary. Training: He has mastered the commands: sit, stay, shake, and more, but could use some additional training with walking nicely on a leash. Duke has a dominant personality that previously included some aggressive behaviors toward other dogs. He has recently completed a training program which has significantly reduced that behavior. His forever family will need to commit to implementing the techniques he has learned. Likes and Dislikes: Duke adores dog toys, doggy daycare, treats, and cozy blankets in his kennel. However, he dislikes having his front legs and paws touched, bath time, and being still for pictures. Health: Duke is in good health with no current concerns at this time. Duke may be a bit smaller in size compared to other Danes, but his heart and personality are larger than life. If you're ready to provide a loving forever home to this affectionate Great Dane, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter/foster with UMGDR, please contact Duke’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2.
