Story

Rosie is a lovable three-year-old lab and pit mix, adopted a year ago from Hickory Creek Animal Shelter. It breaks my heart to rehome her, but it’s what is best for Rosie. I am moving out of the country, and putting her on a flight in the cargo hold would cause her irreparable psychological trauma. Rosie suffered some trauma with her prior owner and is anxious, so sudden loud sounds are scary and she has separation anxiety, which requires daily medication. With her meds she is goofy, food motivated, a ball chasing fiend and is becoming a cuddle bug. She loves water! Rosie loves her human, is skeptical of men at first, and is a great guard dog. She has been around children before with no issues but has never lived with kids. She has dog and cat brothers that she gets along very well with, but would maybe do best in a one dog home where she gets all the attention. She is crate trained and knows basic commands. She requires daily exercise. Rosie will truly be a wonderful best friend!

Kiki: 7 month old spayed female lab mix, about 26 lbs Kiki is just a total love bug her foster mom says. She is on the skinny side but getting plenty to eat now and will round out soon. Her foster family says Kiki is playful and full of energy and loves to cuddle. She gets along and plays well with other dogs. She appears to be house trained (no accidents in the house) and is crate trained. She has learned sit and we are working on stay and not jumping on people when excited. She is protective of her food around other dogs so she will need to be crated when fed if there are other dogs in the home. Kiki is just a such a sweet girl and such a puppy. I am is such a sweet girl, love to cuddle & play! I really miss having a backyard to run off my extra energy! I really love cats! I even had a cat roommate! He lived with us when he was 6 weeks to 2 years. I made sure to play gentle since he was a lot smaller than me! I love playing with kiddos. I like to jump and run, so probably older kids are best (5 and up) I don’t like to share my toys or my food with other doggies, so it’s probably best if I’m the only dog in the home. I’ve never been aggressive, I just like having all the attention.

Tails is a 2 year old retriever mix we adopted when she was a few months old. She is a very sweet girl, loves to play fetch and chase the laser pointer around. She has basic training knows sit, stay, shake/paw, come, treat, kennel, and knows her name. She is kennel trained and loves her crate! She also loves to run and play outside. She plays well with other dogs, but I will say she is food aggressive and we usually feed her in her crate away from my other dogs. She needs a new home because her and my other female mixed breed dog both think they are dominant and we are having behavioral issues between them. That being said she is good with other dogs she has never gotten in a fight at the dog kennel and loves to play with the dogs there, but there is some kind of aggression with my other female dog in the home. She loves to cuddle and sleep with people, but I think with her behavioral issues she will require an experienced owner. Would hate to have to return her to the shelter :(

Hi, my name is Maggie, and I'm 4 years old and weigh 55 lbs. It's difficult to tell in my photos, but I have a beautiful, shiny black coat with auburn highlights. I am a little shy at first, but once I get to know and trust someone, I will be the most loyal and loving dog ever. I have wonderful house manners, so my foster family leaves me with run of the house when they leave. I love toys, in fact I'm a little addicted to them! I don't chew or destroy them, I just love to carry them around, kind of like a security blanket. I love to take walks, and I have great leash manners, although I do like to stop and smell a few things along the way. So many interesting smells out there! I get along with most other dogs, but I definitely do best with a more laid back dog buddy. Truth be told, I would love to be an only dog so I can get all the attention and cuddles. I also prefer a quiet, low activity home. I'm really a low maintenance dog. Just hanging out with my people and an occasional walk, and I'm good!
