Story
Daikon is a very sweet and chill 7–8-year-old, 43lb female being fostered in Washington DC in the Mt Pleasant neighborhood. She is a double merle who is deaf and may have some vision impairment but is perfect in every way! Daikon is originally from SW Virginia but has adjusted very well to DC city life. She was with a temp foster for 3 weeks and got along well with the other dogs, cats and 3 kids under 5 years old.  She gets along well with her foster brother too. Daikon is very chill and loves to be near her people. She rides in the car very nicely. She is well behaved in the house and does not try to get into anything. Daikon is 100% potty trained and would prefer to sleep in bed with her people but will also sleep in the crate. She loves hiking and getting all the new sniffs but is also content to sleep all day at my feet while I work from home.  She would be the perfect companion to a family with kids, single work from home or retired folks. Daikon is not a dog who will thrive being alone all day. A fenced yard is best so that she has a safe place to be off leash. Daikon is looking for a special home where her new owners would be willing to spend time to work with her daily. She is very smart and will do well with hand/sign language training.  An adopter with deaf dog experience is preferred, but not mandatory. If Daikon sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoptions There is an additional $20 microhip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
We are trying to help this sweet girl called Bonnie Belle to find a home since her elderly parents are in failing health and cannot care for their five dogs.  Bonnie Belle is a mix of some interesting breeds.  We think she has some Aussie and maybe Boxer in her.  The Australian Shepherd trait is what makes her a protector of the yard and home when strangers approach.  She is the home security dog officer!   This girl is losing her home because her elderly parents have fallen into bad health.  Bonnie Belle is 4 years old and weighs a little over 40 pounds.  She adores people and is good with the other dogs that she spends time with in the fenced yard.  She is housebroken, affectionate and a devoted girl to her family.  If you would like to give Bonnie her next forever home, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue who is helping her at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 29, 2024, 9:05 pm

Story
Lora Lee is a very sweet dog that is just 2 years old and weighs 35 pounds.  She is said to be an Aussie mix with some Terrier.  Whatever the mix is we think she is a most unusual and truly a beautiful girl who well with other dogs in her foster home.  She is a friend to all and apparently she is house trained as long as taken out regular. Lola Lee is crate trained but cannot be left for long hours in the crate.  She is not leash trained  but is trying to improve.   We are requesting that applicants have a fenced yard for her because she is an active girl that needs to run and play with freedom and not at the end of a leash only. This beauty loves to cuddle and be by your side like your BFF and shadow. If you have another dog that would be great for her to have a playmate that can help her wear out her energy every day.  Lola Lee is a great girl and she is going to need an active family that can challenge and meet her need for exercise and be able to keep up with her.   She is really not a dog for a retirement couple that are ready to have a more laidback dog with fewer exercise demands.  If you are interested in this girl please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 29, 2024, 9:05 pm

Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.energetic young floof seeking active home! RED NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Red          Best Guess for Breed:  Australian shepherd and border collie mix  Best Guess for Age:   10 months as of April 2024       SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  48 lbs as of 3/11/24; he is still growing!   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. Red has lived with a teenager!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Red is Looking For:   His forever family!  Red's beautiful, fluffy coat covers a high-octane, high-energy body! Going by appearances alone, we think this dog is a herding breed mix, and those dogs can run all day. Red might need a lot of  just that - activity. Mere daily walks and/or time in the yard won't be enough. Red is looking for daily opportunities to run and play with other dogs and lots of additional mental stimulation / enrichment. He would likely benefit from being one of those sporty dogs who does advanced obedience training, agility, or nose work! Dogs who don't get all the physical activity and mental enrichment they need will find a way to release their energy in undesirable ways (think chewing on that new couch or pair of shoes you just bought). If Red is indeed the breeds he appears to be, he will need an adopter who loves being active as much as he does and wants a buddy for fun adventures.       What he wants as much as he wants to be active is to know he is safe and loved. What do you say? Can you see yourself stroking his fluffy coat while you chill with him after a long fun day together?   What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
