She learns quickly and already knows to sit and to lay down when instructed. Nala is dog friendly also. Nala is 6 months old and weighs 31 pounds. Meet handsome Dakota! He was surrendered to the shelter on 10/29 because he was being destructive and someone in the family wasn't being very kind to him. It was noted that Dakota is dog-friendly, but he needs work on his house-training skills. The volunteers describe Dakota as very energetic and athletic. He is a herding dog breed who will do best in a family who can keep him physically and mentally stimulated. A destructive dog is often a bored dog with no structure. Crate training and lots of activity will do wonders for Dakota. He will sit briefly when asked, and is very jumpy when excited. He'll need someone patient and kind to work with him on basic manners. If you can meet Dakota's needs, please come meet him! With a little refinement, he'll make a wonderful BFF!! Dakota is approximately 10 months old, and weighs 51 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, and did test negative for heartworms. He is neutered and will be microchipped upon adoption. Dakota is waiting in run 809; his ID # is 14720. A LOVELY YOUNG DOG: Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 33 lbs. Hi there, I’m Valentina! I’m a darling young dog who somehow found myself at animal control, and I’m so grateful to be in the Mostly Mutts family now. I got to spend some time in a wonderful foster home for about a week and am back at the MM shelter now. I’m loving my time with the wonderful volunteers and can’t wait to meet the family who will call me their own! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My temporary foster family and the shelter volunteers say that I’m very playful, smart, and sweet. I seem to know my boundaries in the home, do great around people, and am a loyal, wonderful companion. I truly thrive on being with people and love staying connected to them. I’m an active, friendly girl with a bright mind and a big heart. / Energy level: 6-8, so I’d like to be active with my new family. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer! In my temp. foster home I showed that I was familiar with the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, and ‘down’ commands. I also walked pretty well on my leash. I’ll be tested on these commands soon. / I didn’t need a crate in my temp. foster home and I’m doing pretty well in it at Mostly Mutts though it’s not my favorite place to hang out and I do come out of it quickly. / I did well with my potty manners in my temp. foster home, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love my stuffed toys and spending time with people, and I know we’ll find plenty of new favorite activities to enjoy together once I’m home with you. / I was pretty nervous during my first shelter bath, so we did a foam bath. I hope to be better with those soon. Like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. As much as I love the great volunteers, I am ready to meet my new family and start my ‘happily ever after’ with them! So, come meet me soon! I spent some time in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was friendly with them. If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over, as I am pretty strong and active. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a busy guy with a friendly demeanor. In fact, I’ve heard the volunteers describe me as ‘a strong and lovable guy with a sweet nature’. I’ll either charm you with my handsome good looks or delight you with my contagious playfulness! Though I’m quite energetic, I did calm down for my shelter bath and the great rubs and pets that came with that. I have been a bit playfully mouthy and wiggly during leashing at the shelter and leave my kennel raring to go, so be ready for my enthusiasm, right out of the gate. I’m just so happy to be out and about with the volunteers! The volunteers say that I do the most adorable head tilts when I hear certain sounds, like whistling – so cute! Affectionate and fun, I’m ready to bring lots of fun and adventure to my new home! / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer. I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘down’, and ‘drop it’ commands as well as how to utilize proper door etiquette. I can’t wait to learn more! Check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, though I don’t want to spend a lot of time in my crate. / I've been having just a few accidents on the shelter schedule, so continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I LOVE being petted and will happily spend time hanging out with a volunteer on the front bench after my walks – collecting all the tummy scratches you wish to give! I’m also quite treat motivated, so have those handy when you want my undivided attention – lol. I recently went on a sunset hike with a volunteer, enjoying the exercise and happily rewarding them with plenty of kisses along the way. Toys get my attention as well, so let’s PLAY! / I can’t think of any real dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.
