Story
Do you know me? I am an approx. 10-year-old female border collie mix. I was found last night running loose on Fork Road / Highland Drive (04/24/26 @11pm). Unfortunately, I am not microchipped and am now at Rockwall Adoption Center on stray hold for the next 72-hours in order to allow my owners time to reclaim me. If you recognize me or know where I belong, please call RAC at (972) 771-7750 ext.2 ** I am not available for meet and greet appointments or adoption at this time. **  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Story
Sassy is a well-behaved girl. Words starting with “S” that fit her perfectly include special, super, sweet, spunky, spirited, sincere, smart, and sensitive to your feelings. She’s a beautiful 1-year-old, 48-pound black and white spayed female Border Collie/Canaan Dog mix who arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/3. Her glossy coat and stand-up ears make her stand out, and she may even be housetrained. We became instant best friends! She’s polite, takes treats gently, and walks nicely on a leash. She came right over when I called her. Plus, she’s already spayed. I fell in love with her, and I think you will too.

Story
Meet Sebastian! He is a 2 yr old male mixed breed that weighs 69lbs. He is a very handsome boy and when using dog scanner it stated he may have a mix of Border Collie, Besenji, and Bull Terrier. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/27 as a stray. He has a majestic and regal look about him, but also a goofy side. With one ear up, long body and glossy coat he is a standout. He does need some manners training as he will jump on you, but with a sharp retort he was responsive. He also has his silly goofy side when it comes to toys. He would need to have strong rubber ones to play with. He does want to please and will sit for treats and take them gently. He didn’t show interest in other dogs, yet we do ask if there is another dog in the home to please ask the shelter for a dog test. He is rambunctious, enthusiastic, playful, fun loving, joyful, and friendly. He has a semi-strong pull on a leash. He will need a secured yard for his playtime but wants to spend time in the house, enjoying his new loving family.

Story
Emma is a spry 12-year-old senior who defies her age. She’s unaware of her gray muzzle, only knowing she has plenty of love to give her future forever family. This 45-pound Border Collie mix was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/19 after her owner passed away. A vet check confirmed she’s in good health for her age. Her eyes are cloudy, possibly from cataracts or glaucoma, but she gets around just fine. According to her surrender form, she was both an indoor and outdoor dog, lived with other dogs, and got along well with them. She enjoys running and playing catch, though she can be food aggressive, so if you have another dog, feeding separately might be best. In her kennel, she was alert and curious, and in the yard, she explored thoroughly. When I sat on the bench, she came over, stood beside me, and gave gentle kisses. She responds to her name, behaves politely without jumping, and though she doesn’t seem to know “sit,” she walks nicely on a leash. Emma is ready for new adventures and precious moments, and at her age, she deserves the comfort of a climate-controlled home, soft blankets, and her own cozy bed.

Story
Meet Littlefoot! This little tripod is one of the sweetest pups you’ll ever meet. She was found as a stray along with her puppies in South Texas a few months ago. Since rescuing her, we have gotten her fully vetted which included amputating her front limb, as she was born with a deformity that was causing her some pain. She’s a little over a year old, good with dogs, but prefers a mellow companion. She’s extremely sweet with people and would like to be a cuddle partner for hours on end. She’s also potty trained and crate trained. She has not been cat tested so unfortunately, we do not know how she would do with kitties. Because Littlefoot was a "street dog" the first year of her life, new things can be scary at first. So we will require a patient leader that can teach her that the world is not a scary place. Our trainer will be happy to continue to work with her on confidence building once she enters into your home, as all of our pups come with 3 free at home sessions with one of our trainers. If this little bundle of energy and love, sounds like the perfect match for you, please visit the link and fill out an adoption application so that we can schedule a phone call to chat about her . Please note we do not ship dogs out of state. If you’re currently not in the Dallas Fort Worth area, you will have to come to Dallas to meet her.

Story
Meet Sundae Sundae is a 2-year-old female Aussie/Catahoula mix weighing approximately 56 lbs who is ready for a fresh start with a patient, loving family. This sweet, sensitive girl may be a little shy at first and can startle in new environments, but with a calm approach and a little patience, she quickly begins to build trust. Once she feels safe, Sundae's affectionate personality truly shines—she absolutely loves belly rubs and will happily soak up all the attention you can give. Sundae walks nicely on a leash and has great leash manners, making her a wonderful companion for calm neighborhood strolls. She would do best in a home with children 13 years and older or in an adult-only household where she can feel secure and continue to grow in confidence at her own pace. At this time, Sundae is not comfortable around other dogs. This may be due to the stress of the shelter environment or past experiences, but a meet and greet is required for homes with existing pets to ensure a good fit. She may do best as the only pet where she can relax and thrive. Sundae is spayed, microchipped, current on her rabies vaccination and basic boosters, and is heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is $125. If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion and are willing to give her the time she needs to blossom, Sundae could be the perfect addition to your home. Story
Meet Outlaw! Outlaw is a 3-year-old male Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix weighing around 55 lbs who was found on 04/23/26 off Brockway Dr. in Rockwall. Unfortunately, he was never reclaimed and is now available for adoption and ready for a fresh start. Outlaw is new to the crew, so we are still getting to know him—stay tuned for updates as we learn more about his personality. What we do know is that he appears shy at first, which is not uncommon in the shelter environment, but he seems to want to be around people and is already showing interest in human companionship. He is also learning his way around a leash and seems to be catching on fairly quickly. Because Outlaw really enjoys being around people, he would do best with a family that is home more often than not, has someone who works from home, or has a stay-at-home household member. He is not a dog that will be happy spending long periods alone in a yard. In fact, he may try to find his way out to seek companionship, so he will need a home committed to keeping him safely indoors and including him as part of the family. We do not yet know how Outlaw does with other dogs. Meet and greets are suggested for adopters who currently have another dog in the home to help ensure a good match. Outlaw's adoption fee is $125 and includes his neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, boosters to date, and heartworm test. His neuter and rabies vaccine are scheduled for Wednesday, 04/29/26. This date is non-negotiable, and adopters will need to plan accordingly. An approved online adoption application is required for meet and greets as well as for adoption. Apply online at: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX.
