Nala is equal parts sweet and feisty. She’s the perfect sidekick and loves to be a part of the action. Having breakfast? She’ll join you in the extra chair. Cleaning up? She’ll follow you from room to room (and try to convince you into making a pit stop at her food bowl). Time for bed? She’ll make herself cozy next to you and give the sweetest purrs. She is chatty and meows to let you know what she’s thinking. She loves to play and is overall good with kids. In our household with three young children (ages 4, 4, and 1) and multiple pets, she made some quick friends with our dog and kids but had mixed success with our cats, making us wonder if she has more experience in homes with dogs than cats. Unlike some cats who more readily hide when overwhelmed, in our sometimes loud and busy home we occasionally needed to encourage Nala to take a break from the action and move into her own space, which she has done willingly. Upon coming to rescue, Nala was discovered to have bladder stones which dissolved when started on a prescription diet. Nala will require lifelong adherence to this prescription diet in her forever home to keep her healthy and feeling good. Seeing Nala’s true self come through once on the right food plan and feeling better has brought our family so much joy. She is a beautiful and funny girl with so much personality. She will be a wonderful pet for her forever family.

Gus is a very lovable cat. He loves to be pet and loves attention, the more the better. He loves to sleep on or in just about everything. He especially loves to sleep on his human. Unfortunately his human has developed allergies to him and can no longer keep him. Gus is afraid of dogs. He has never lived with children but does ok when the grandchildren come to visit. He usually hides when the vacuum is running. Gus loves catnip toys and glitter balls. Gus is a pretty mellow guy as long as he gets his two meals a day, LOTS of love and pets, a nice warm bed- preferably with a human-and a quiet, orderly household. He has access to a cat tower with scratching posts. He has never scratched the furniture. Gus is quite the sweetheart who may be a little shy at first but warms up to people quickly.

Cowboy is a beautiful (yes, she is a GIRL!) who was found in a recycling bin by a nearby apartment and a good Samaritan took her in. Their resident cat was not a fan of this decision so Cowboy was surrendered to rescue where she has been doing well in her foster home. She is hoping to find her forever family soon! Cowboy was found to have luxated patellas in both of her knees during her examination by our veterinary team. The patella is the “knee cap” and when it is luxated, it is outside of its normal groove. In larger animals, this usually leads to arthritis and difficulty walking. Luckily for Cowboy, she is not very large at all! In cats this condition is not common and usually is due to bone growth abnormalities. She has not been showing any signs of discomfort or difficulty getting around in her foster home at all, and her body seems to have adjusted to this abnormality on it’s own. She is on a joint supplement as a protective measure, and she should be kept on the thinner side to ease the pressure on her joints. We do not expect that this condition will need to be addressed or corrected.
