Story
NALA is an adorable white and black female (with a cute black dot on her nose) who is approx. 1 year old. She is a very sweet and friendly girl who loves being around her fosters (they say she is a velcro cat). She loves to be petted and snuggle and, if she had her way, she would sit on your lap all day. Nala likes to talk with her fosters and has a sweet and loud purr. She is food motivated and loves her food and treats. Nala is quite smart and likes to figure out ways to get into closets so be sure to keep them secured so she doesn't close herself inside. Nala enjoys looking out the windows and sitting on her scratching post; she likes using a cardboard scratcher. She is very playful - her favorite toys are stuffed toys with bell sounds and catnip. And, she loves chasing the fleece on a wand toy and interacting with her foster with toys. Nala would like a home where her adopter isn't gone long hours every day. She has not been around other animals in our program and would do best as an only pet. Cats can live 18+ years so be sure you can give Nala her forever home. Nala is spayed, FeLV and FIV negative, and distemper and rabies vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Call 651-771-5662 to ask about adorable Nala.

Story
MARIGOLD and HOBBES are cute-as-can-be kittens who are 5 months old. They both have deep gold eyes and are very friendly, social, playful and well adjusted. They need to be adopted together. Marigold has lovely calico markings. Don't let her tiny size fool you; she is a pint-sized extrovert with a larger-than-life personality. She is the ultimate social butterfly of the group and always on the go. When she finally winds down, this chatty girl loves to tell you all about her day before showering you with sweet nose-boop kisses and settling in for cozy lap time. Hobbes is a handsome orange tabby (with a spotted tummy) and a loveable goofball. He loves being the life of the party and enthusiastic playtime. When he really wants to show off his bubbly kitten energy, it is absolutely hilarious to watch him wrestle a kick toy. Once he has thoroughly conquered his kick toy, he is very gentle and loves nothing more than lounging in your lap for dedicated chin scritches. They can make a toy out of anything; cardboard boxes are great hiding places and napping places, and they use their cardboard scratching pad and carpeted scratching post. Hobbes and Marigold are in a foster home with a small dog and do fine with her; they are too active to be adopted into a home with adult cats. They would be okay with older respectful children (10 years and up). Cats can live 18+ years so be sure you can give them their forever homes. Marigold and Hobbes are spayed/neutered, FeLV and FIV negative, and have had all three of their kitten distemper vaccinations. As noted, they need to be adopted together and their adoption fee is $350 for the pair. Call 651-771-5662 to inquire about seeing these cute, affectionate kittens.

Story
ALEX is a very cute and sweet brown and white tabby with almond shaped eyes, beautiful facial markings, and is approximately 1 to 1.5 years old. If you are looking for an exceptionally affectionate and loving cat who thinks you are the best, Alex is the boy for you. With his long legs, soft fur, playful curiosity, and affectionate personality, Alex is looking for a home where he can settle in, explore, play and, most important, have people of his own to love. Alex is a social cat who loves being near his person. Sit down on the floor and there is a good chance he will climb right into your lap; stretch out, and he may curl up tightly beside you or settle across your chest and stomach for a cuddle. He is not a fan of being held or restrained, but he loves affection and is wonderfully easygoing. Alex also makes a delightful work-from-home companion. He is content to nap quietly nearby and periodically stops by to sit on your lap or desk and check in. If he hasn't seen you for a while, he may greet you with his wonderfully unusual little conversational chirps, chatters, and merps, as though he has been saving up stories to tell you. When he isn't cuddling or napping, Alex is an active and curious young guy. He loves batting toy mice across the floor, wrestling with his kicker toy, exploring his surroundings and keeping tabs on the neighborhood from a window. Birds, squirrels, chipmunks and passing dogs all make excellent television. He is also very good about using both horizontal and upright scratching posts. Alex likes having room to explore, but what he really wants is to be wherever his people are. Give him a whole house to investigate and, once he has completed his rounds, he is likely to come right back and hang out in the same room with you. He has a lovely combination of independence and affection: he does not need to be attached to you every minute but he clearly enjoys your company and regularly comes back for attention and cuddles. Alex has been around the other cats in his foster home and is a little too in your face for their taste. He would probably enjoy being the only cat in his forever home with a person who is not gone long hours each day. He has not been around dogs or children in our program but should be fine with older kids. Cats can live 18+ years so be sure you can give Alex his forever home. Axel is neutered, FeLV, FIV and heartworm negative, and distemper and rabies vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Call 651-771-5662 to ask about playful, sweet Alex.

Story
MALCOLM and MARNIE are approx. 6 years old. They are both cute brown and white tabbies who came into our program as strays and were very, very scared, but they have enjoyed the routine in their foster home and their individual personalities have blossomed. They love being together and Marnie feels braver with Malcolm nearby. Malcolm has short hair and loves playing with his two rope toys in particular, pushing them under a door and then trying to scoop them back inside. When called, he stops whatever he’s doing to enthusiastically run over for affection. Malcolm is so excited to get neck rubs and back scratches that he happily purrs and bonks his head into anything and everything nearby - furniture, his foster’s legs, his food dish, or whatever else happens to be close! He will sit on his foster's lap when she is relaxing and has become so much more trusting in his foster home. Marnie has lovely thick, medium hair and had become more at ease. She is very curious and likes to check out what her people are doing and wants to be in the same room as they are. She loves treats and eats out of her foster’s hand and has learned that being petting is great while she purrs happily. Marnie enjoys playing with any kind of interactive feather toy. She loves sitting on the top of her cat tree by the window and watching the activity in the yard. If you are the special person who has a lot of patience, a calm presence, and can give Malcolm and Marnie a quiet home and consistent routine, they will give you so much in return (they do well when they know what to expect). They would do best in a home without other animals or children and in a home where their people don't plan on moving. Malcolm and Marnie are neutered/spayed, FeLV and FIV negative, and distemper and rabies vaccinated. Their adoption fee is $320 for the adorable pair. Call 651-771-5662 if you are the special person for these two sweet cats.

Story
CALI and BENNIE are approximately 5 years old. Although they aren't littermates, they have been together since they were kittens, and they balance each other beautifully, with Bennie bringing exuberance and affection while Cali offers a quiet presence, sweet companionship, and a touch of independent charm. They are looking for a forever home together, where they can keep each other company and share their love with someone who appreciates two very different but compatible personalities. Their owner died so Second Chance was asked to take them into our program. Bennie is a brown and gold tiger with striking green eyes and a sweet, trusting nature. Once he bonds with his person, he gives his whole heart. He is a deeply affectionate boy who loves to cuddle and will curl up on a lap, chest, or stretched out right alongside someone while they relax or watch TV. Sometimes he even reaches up with a gentle paw to ask for more attention. Bennie adores scratches, enjoys massages, and purrs endlessly and happily. He is calm, tolerant, and incredibly sweet-natured. Although he is usually quiet, he becomes very vocal when food or treats might be involved, since he is highly motivated by the chance of a snack. His energy and agility show when he leaps enthusiastically to the top of his cat tree and flips over with his tummy in the air, and he is just as happy being carried around or being held by his person. Although he loves being near people and enjoys being around Cali, he has not been accepting of the other cats in his foster home. Cali is a lovely calico with a soft coat, green eyes, and a personality that blends independence with affection. She is quieter than Bennie and communicates with adorable chirps and meeps, but she is very clear when she wants attention. She will confidently bonk her head into a hand to demand pets and will continue until she gets the affection she is seeking. Cali takes a bit longer than Bennie to warm up to new people, but once she does, she becomes a devoted and relaxed lounging companion who prefers to stretch out beside someone rather than on their lap. She often lies on her back with her tummy up. When her human is working, she will come over, put her paws on their knees, and give a soft little chirp until she receives some pets. Cali is independent and particular about how she wants to be handled, and she does not like being held or carried, but she is deeply affectionate in her own way and loves being close to her person on her own terms. Cali is especially captivated by light reflections and loves to chase them across the floor or up the walls, and she also enjoys batting around her poofy pom-pom toys. Cali is quite a bit overweight and is on low calorie food to help slowly take some weight off (and she is getting exercise by playing with her fosters). The adopter must continue monitoring her food intake and keep her on a low cal food. They both love hanging out on their cat tree by the window or snoozing inside their felt cat cave beds. Both like simple cardboard scratchers; Bennie prefers an angled one, while Cali enjoys spending time on a cardboard lounger that she scratches on and uses as her little perch. Since they have grown up together, they must be adopted as a pair. They would prefer a home without dogs or other cats; they have not been around children in our program but should be fine with older, respectful kids (12+ years). Bennie and Cali are neutered/spayed, FeLV and FIV negative, and distemper and rabies vaccinated. Their adoption fee is $350 for the sweet pair. Call 651-771-5662 to inquire about this affectionate duo.

Story
Benny is a handsome 1.5 year old boy. He is buff and white and has lovely gold eyes. He is a friendly and active young cat who purrs when you pet him. Benny is very curious and always has to check out what you are doing and be part of it. He is food motivated so be sure you don’t leave human food out on the counters. Benny would like you to be his best friend and include him in what you are doing. He likes just about any toy and uses the cardboard floor scratcher and his carpeted scratching tree. The most exciting part of the day is watching the birds and squirrels outside the patio door. Benny is good with other cats or he could be adopted as an only cat as long as you aren't gone long hours every day. He has not been around dogs in our program and would probably do best in a home without dogs. He is good with the foster’s older grandchild. Remember, cats can live 18+ years so be sure you can provide them with a forever home. Benny is neutered, FeLV and FIV negative, and distemper and rabies vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200 each.
