In late September, I had a vet appointment and found that my glaucoma was so severe, and causing me so much pain, that both my eyes needed to be removed. I also had much needed dental work done to remove several infected teeth. I am no longer in pain, but it’s been quite an adjustment losing my sight. While I couldn’t see well before, the complete loss of my vision has been a big adjustment. I am still a very happy girl who loves people and I especially love the quiet safety of my foster mom’s lap while she works. While I currently live with dogs and a cat, I am easily startled by movement and noise, and can be territorial with my favorite spots, and would do best as an only dog/animal in a home without children and or a lot activity. True to my breed, I am a vocal girl and like to communicate when I am excited, wanting attention, lonely, or feeling protective. I much prefer to be with people and would be a great companion for a retired person or a home where my parent/s are home more than away. I am reliably house trained, love treats, cuddling, burrowing under covers, am a very good sleeper, and am very excited by the short walks I’ve been able to take since my recovery. Because I’m such a special girl, I will need a special home where my parent(s) are patient, willing to help me navigate my world, and are willing to make my immediate environment safe and accessible for me. Bernie is an absolute wonderful boy with so much love and personality. This is extremely difficult but he has proven that he should NOT be in a home with cats and my cats well being has been compromised because of the fact. Bernie is up to date on vaccines and is neutered.

Hi, my name is Abby and I am from Oklahoma! Abby is the sweetest dog! She is playful but also quite calm for a puppy. We have fallen in love with her! She has done very well with our 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier and has fit in well in our home. Abby is very affectionate and such a gorgeous dog...really a stunner! She is getting better with every walk on the leash and is doing very well with potty training . She loves the outdoors and is very content playing in the yard, or hanging out on our porch watching people and dogs walk by.

Welcome Drummer to CCPAL Rescue. Drummer is an 8-year-old wire-haired Dachshund. He was adopted out by us 4 years ago. He was 4 at the time. He has been loved and bonded deeply to the woman that adopted him. He would love another home with a quieter home that would allow him to get the attention he needs and deserves. He has found himself in need of a new forever home. His owner has been put in hospice and can no longer care for him. The immediate family cannot care for him so we stepped up and will find this precious boy his new forever home. He is trying to adjust to the Rescue again. They can easily live to be 17 years old. If you love the breed, you know how loyal and bonded these dogs are to their person. They are a single dog person dog. They may love other people but they are loyal to one. He sheds some but not over the top. He is a good weight and his teeth are not too bad for his age. You can tell he was cared for and that he is disoriented with his new arrangement at the Rescue. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Welcome Mason Jar to CCPAL Rescue. Mason Jar is a 10 week old sweetie. Dachshund/Black Mouth Cur mix is our best guess. He should be a medium sized dog 28 pounds or less. He is sturdy but has really stubby legs. His mom is Pickles and she is also medium sized. He is getting lots of attention at the Rescue and he is social, good with other dogs, good in a crate, learning wee pad manners and is over all a very nice puppy. The kennel staff usually bathe and clip toenails on a regular basis as well. He should be fine with grooming. He has a soft fluffy coat and adorable expressions. He was found as a stray with his mom who is Pickles. He is getting all 3 sets of his puppy vaccinations, neutered and will be neutered soon. He can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Mason Jar would be fine in a family with children. We like them to be 8 or older. A puppy is always best with someone that is not gone all day everyday. A puppy needs to bond with his humans and to go places to remain and grow up to be a well rounded dog. Mason Jar will also need to finish his puppy training. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Meet Isle!  Isle is a handsome one-year-old long-haired Dachshund who is ready to find his forever home! This sweet boy loves being with his people and is happiest when he can snuggle up in your lap and be part of whatever you’re doing. He’s also a big fan of going for walks and is a wonderful leash walker. When he’s not out exploring, you can usually find him happily chewing on a bone or playing with his favorite stuffed toys. Like many Dachshunds, Isle has a voice and isn’t afraid to use it! He can be vocal when he hears unfamiliar sounds or notices people in his surroundings. He’s still working on his potty training, but he does well when kept on a consistent schedule. Isle gets along well with other dogs and has done well with cats, too. While he hasn’t shown aggression toward children, he isn’t particularly fond of their high energy, so a home with older, calmer kids or adults may be the best fit for him. A securely fenced yard is a must for Isle. If something startles him, he may take off running, so having a safe, enclosed space is important. Isle is a total stage-five clinger who wants to be his person’s constant companion! ❤️ As he’s settling in and becoming more comfortable, he’s showing some separation anxiety and has become very attached to his foster. We think he would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time and is looking for a true companion to share their day with. Isle also seems to bond closely with one person and takes a little time to warm up to other members of the household. We’ve also noticed that he seems wary of men. He isn’t showing aggression, but he can be very cautious, barking and running away when he feels unsure. Since we don’t have any men living in our home, we can’t say for certain how he would adjust to having a man in his everyday environment, so this is something his future family should be prepared to work on gently and patiently. Isle is a sweet boy with so much love to give, but he does have some things he’ll need help working through. He’ll thrive with someone who understands that building confidence takes time, can provide reassurance without rushing him, and is willing to help him learn that being alone can be safe, too. At the end of the day, Isle is a young Dachshund who simply wants to be close to his person. He’s looking for a family who will give him love, patience, consistency, and plenty of opportunities to snuggle.
