Hi! My name is Loki and I am from a shelter in Arkansas. From the foster: Loki is a really sweet boy who loves cuddles and needs someone to teach him how to be calm around other people and dogs. He's been in an apartment environment which hasn't been a good fit for him, and it would be really important to have a fenced-in backyard where he can play, train and relax so he can be the best version of himself! Loki is not a fan of long walks, and his absolute favorite thing to do is play fetch. Bonus points if it's with an apple (he's visited my parents' backyard with an apple tree and he's really liked to play fetch with them and munch as a treat). Loki also loves to cuddle and will snuggle up to you whenever he can! He's a total love bug! Loki does really well in his crate and will only whine for a minute or two. We've put him in his crate at night, and he stays well asleep until the morning for a potty break and walk. In the day, he's been able to stay in his crate for about 6 hours, and we've let him out to go potty for lunch time. Loki is reactive with unknown people or dogs, so it's best to start him slow on introductions or walks along trails that aren't too populated until he can get comfortable around noise/people/dogs. Although this is the case with unknown dogs, he would really benefit from having a dog companion who can show him the ropes and give him the confidence he needs. He's really enjoyed visiting with my parents' senior dog and seems to be more calm when he's around him, and is happy to let someone else be the lead. He's even imitated the way he sits and walks around their house! Our parents' home is a full house and Loki really seems to like being with multiple people and likes a family environment. He seems to like the noise and the constant activity as long as it's people he is familiar with. He would do really well with another resident dog and older kids! Loki recently saw the vet and was prescribed anxiety medication and wears an anxiety vest that has seemed to help a lot, and would be a great tool for training as well. He also seems to have some skin itchiness, and he's been given some medication to treat that as well. With the right home and environment, Loki will be able to be himself and be the sweet loving pup that he is!

I'm Waldo. I'm from Missouri. From the foster: Waldo is such an affectionate, curious, playful, smart cutie! His favorite activities include playing tug, giving kisses, relocating slippers, hunting crickets and grasshoppers in the backyard, getting belly rubs, de-stuffing toys, snuggling, talking to the neighbor dogs, and taking naps in laps. Waldo LOVES people; he will sometimes give a few barks but ultimately hasn't met a person from which he doesn't want pets. When we say he's affectionate, we mean it! He loves getting pets, snuggling, giving kisses, and almost always being within a few feet of his humans. He really likes toys, especially those he can relieve of their stuffing. He has been very good about not destroying things that are not toys. He's a really good pup!! He knows a few commands and is a smarty who would love to keep learning how to be the bestest boy. Overall, he's a sweetie pie with a lot of love to give. Waldo is house trained but has had a few accidents in the house. Most of these are his foster trying to figure out his schedule, though one instance was him marking. Waldo is also a very vocal guy! He's not afraid to bark to let you know he wants to play or that he wants to be let up into your lap. He's most barky when he hears other dogs, so shared walls may not be ideal. He loves being around people so much that he really can't stand being crated. He would thrive in a home with a doggy friend and/or a human that works from home.

Hi! My name is Lucky and I am from a shelter in Arkansas. From the foster: Lucky is a great little dog! He is affectionate, loves to cuddle and receive belly rubs. He is a little shy but more curious than anything. He follows me around the house during the day, takes lots of naps, and likes to sit and watch out the window. We have only heard the classic beagle howl a couple times and it caught us by surprise! He is calm, polite, and will nudge you or crawl in your lap for much appreciated attention. He is house trained and sleeps quietly in his crate at night. We are working on leash training. He is unfamiliar with being walked and it is a little scary for him, but we are confident he will catch on. He is great with our resident dog and enjoys having a friend to run and play with. Lucky will need to go to a home with another dog. It has been a joy to see his personality come out, we know he will be loved wherever he goes!

This handsome, sweet, playful boy is Kirby! Kirby is such a happy boy – he wags his tail so hard that his whole-body wiggles and just look at how he’s smiling in all the pictures. Kirby really loves to be with you.  He loves to sit on your lap and cuddle, but his absolute favorite are belly rubs. Kirby is also a huge fan of toys, toys & more toys!  Most of the time he’s running around with a toy or two in his mouth.  He thinks it’s fun if you’ll toss toys so he can go get them.  Kirby gets along great with the three other pups in the household and plays with all of them.  His best friend of the group is a tiny chihuahua mix – it is so cute to see how gentle he is when he plays with her. Kirby does great on walks & is such a good boy in his crate.  He would love a fenced at his forever home.  Plus, it is so cute to watch Kirby do his zoomies! He is a great mix of playful and mellow.  During the workday, he is content to stay in the office area keeps busy napping, playing with toys & the other pups or working on a chewy. Kirby is sure to bring so much love and happiness to his forever home, so fill out an application if you’d like to meet this wonderful boy. If you would like to meet Kirby, please visit spotslastsstop.org and fill out an application.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** DOB:  04/27/2023 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Weight: 5 pounds Requires a fenced yard: No, if committed to continue leash training Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area.  Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Woody. I am a very handsome and incredibly sweet male Dachshund mix puppy who loves playing with squeaky toys, exploring everything, going on leashed walks, being held by my people, and chewing on bully sticks, Kongs, and any hard, chewy toy! LOL!! I love people and it must be said that I was a favorite with the staff at the vet…I’m just sayin’! Hee, hee!! The truth is, I have a wonderfully perky personality with a tail that’s always wagging so clearly, I am irresistible! I have not met any kids, cats, or larger dogs; I am potty trained on a schedule and crate & leash trained. I also know commands like “sit”, “kennel/crate”, “outside”, and “go potty” so you can see I’m very smart! All I need now is YOU…my patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me! I feel that you and I are meant to share our lives together so let’s make that happen as soon as possible ok! Love, Woody *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Hi my name is Cookee, and I'm the sweetest treat of a pup that you'll ever meet. People say I remind them of cookies and cream when I give them sweet kisses on the nose or bump up and snuggle with them when they're feeling down. I am a Dachshund-Basset mix, 8-years old, and medium sized about 30# full grown. Sitting on people's couches or laps is my favorite pastime as I get to snuggle close to the people I love, which is practically everyone! I LOVE OTHER DOGS TOO!! I definitely want a home with other dogs :) As I am a bit on the older side and lived on the streets until I was saved with my babies in my tummy. I have been living at my foster home and am ready for my forever HOME!! I will need a patient and loving family to give me a good life of exercise- LOL, playtime, treats, love, affection, and belonging. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
