Ryder is a sweet boy that we rescued about two years ago. He is perfect with people who give him his space until he trusts them. The issue is that he is very aggressive toward strainers and people that try to approach him other than our household members and a hand full of others. He will bite if he feels threatened, he has become a liability for our family due to the fact that in two years of training he still occasionally becomes aggressive out of the blue and will bite people. He is small so bites have caused minimal damage but we have children and their friends and our friends are have been bitten in some rare instances. He really is sweet and needs a companion to devote a lot of time. He is very attached to me but does not like any other men. He could be a great companion for an individual that lives alone and has a lot of time for snuggling and playing.

Scratch is looking for a forever home in Minnesota where he can nap and lounge the day away. He may play a bit, but would prefer to hang-out and just observe the world. A low energy home would make him most happy. He is easy-going and low-maintenance and will make a great companion! Scratch currently lives with big and small dogs, children and adults in his Texas foster home. The young children in the home make him a bit nervous, so a home with only older children will be best. Scratch is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 12/16/2023 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Mauricio is from Texas. He was brought into rescue from a hoarder/neglect situation. He is not used to a lot of human contact, and will bark at strangers.. but not aggressively, just a warning that he's uncomfortable in the current situation. His Texan foster family said it took about a day and a half for him to realize that they were the good guys, and now he just can't get enough pets! I'm going to let you in on a little secret.. the dogs that make you work for it?? they are loyal to you for life. This little man is going to be your new best friend.. and he's not going to let you forget it. He plays well with other dogs that are around his same size, but has not been tested with large dogs or cats. He is working on the whole potty training thing. Limiting his water and having a routine of scheduled potty breaks seems to be working for him, and if kept on a consistent routine once he gets here to Minnesota, he should be 100% potty trained in no time at all! Mauricio is kenneled at night, and does so without complaint. sleeping there through the night until his foster mom takes him on his 6:30am potty break. He is fed in his kennel as well as taking any high value treats there. This handsome, sweet, playful boy is Kirby! Kirby is such a happy boy – he wags his tail so hard that his whole-body wiggles and just look at how he’s smiling in all the pictures. Kirby really loves to be with you. He loves to sit on your lap and cuddle, but his absolute favorite are belly rubs. Kirby is like the best looking guy in the bar. He plays hard to get… but once he gets to know you, he’s actually a good guy! Because of this little quirk, transitions into a new home will be harder but give this junk some time and patience and you’ll have the most handsome guy in town! Kirby is also a huge fan of toys, toys & more toys! Most of the time he’s running around with a toy or two in his mouth. He thinks it’s fun if you’ll toss toys so he can go get them. Kirby gets along great with the three other pups in the household and plays with all of them. Kirby can be bossy and want to control the play when he is with puppies and small dogs. He is great with big dogs- he enjoys playing, snuggling and following a big friend. Kirby does great on walks & is such a good boy in his crate. He would love a fenced at his forever home. Plus, it is so cute to watch Kirby do his zoomies! He is a great mix of playful and mellow. I love to be pet, snuggled, and to give kisses! Cuddling on the couch is the best! Story

Hi! My name is Bonnie! From the foster: Don't leave a plate of food or your heart unattended with this one. Bonnie will run off with both before you know it! Bonnie is a sweet and playful little girl who loves snuggling under covers, on the couch, in bed and anywhere else that you can find. As a basset hound, you can tell that her nose is always working, looking for a fallen piece of food, and hoping that you will be sharing your dinner, too. Though Bonnie does currently have some boundary issues that we are working on (like trying to crawl into your lap during a meal), adjustments are easy to make, since she is always looking to people-please. Bonnie has also been able to make friends of all kinds. She quickly acclimated to our resident dog and cat. I think she would love to be in a home with smaller and older kids or other pets. She has had a lot of fun when the house is more busy than usual, making sure to get in on the action. But when we are having a quiet day, she is happy to match the vibe. Bonnie's temperament is very much, "go with the flow , which has been amazing for us, as our resident cat be a little spicy at times. Bonnie has always taken those mood swings in stride and usually trots off for sweeter company. Bonnie is currently a shadow, following her favorite person from room to room. As she has stayed with us, we have seen her come out of her shell, and know that with more time, she is sure to grow into a confident and carefree dog. Bonnie would be a great house or apartment dog, as she is house trained, and has only barked once during her stay with us, which happened to be during a play session. She loves toys, but picks a favorite for the day, which she will carry with her for the whole day. Recently, her favorite is a small yellow duck that must be present for breakfast, naps, watching out the window, and of course, play. Though it will be very hard to say goodbye, we know that Bonnie's forever family is out there and they are going to feel so special and loved.
