He loves laying in the sun, going on walks, treats & toys and being under the covers.    Walter needs a fully fenced yard as he can be quite the escape artist. He likes to run for short bursts in the yard and find smells to roll in.  Walter gets along with his two resident dogs, but is still learning polite greetings with new dogs.   Walter is very curious, and needs someone who can be patient and reassure him. He is still working on leash training and is currently demonstrating some reactivity with other dogs. Based on the fosters observations we beleive that Walter may be hard of hearing.   Walter is left home with the resident dogs for a few hours at a time. He is known to be a snoop and counter surfer, so he is put in a room with our resident dog. He will settle when left with a doggy friend.    Walter picks up on patterns and routines quickly. He is not a quiet boy and will express his needs.   At this time, we do not how Walter does with kids or cats. Walter tends to be curious, cautious and skittish around new animals and meeting people outside the home.    Currently we are working on basic obedience and leash etiquette. Walter seems to have some reduced hearing and vision. We suspect it's genetic/congenital. He does not seem to be in any pain from it and we are working with MARS Vet to keep tabs on it. I like to spend my days busying myself with toys and doggie chewies.  I like to stay active too by running and playing in the yard.  However, I usually fit a few naps into my day as well.  After all, who doesn't like a nap?  I'm learning what potty pads are and that I really should go outside to do my dirty business but it takes time to establish those habits.  I love to cuddle with my humans too. Welcome Daisey to CCPAL foster program. She is an 8-year-old Dachshund/Corgi is our best guess. She has a longer body and upright ears. She is a scenting breed for sure. She is active and social and not the couch potato dog. She weighs 25 pounds. She is good with a dog smaller and a dog larger. The larger dog is a pit Bull and she does good with that more dominant dog as well. She is around children and is a great dog for a family with kiddos. She has a 5 year old and a baby in her home. This family has found they have to move into a rental house. The rental house will only allow 2 dogs. They are sad but there is no other option. Pit Bulls are tougher to rehome so she is rehoming her favorite dog. She was crying telling this story. Daisey is potty trained, good on a leash, good in a car, good with other dogs, kids and strangers. She will need a fenced yard or walked on a leash. She can catch a scent and wonder off. She has a nice sturdy body and will make a great companion for an active family or active senior. She can be an only dog or go with another dog. This dog has a lot of good years in front of her and is by no means an old acting dog. She is in good health, vaccinated, spayed and ready for her forever home. She is a shedding dog but only moderately. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to help get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Welcome Chopper to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 3.5-year-old Dachshund mix pup. He is Black and tan and weighs about 12 pounds. He is getting neutered next week. He lives in a home with a number of other dogs and does great. He lives with an older woman and he is very loyal to her. We are working with him on a harness and leash. He doesn’t know how to walk on leash at this time. He needs to find his forever home. The person he lived with since he was a puppy has had a change in her living conditions and the neighbor has mentioned harming the dogs. When she told us this, CCPAL stepped up for 3 of the dogs. They are all under-socialized but we will work hard to get them used to new things, leash walking, crate training and more. They are a wonderful breed and if you love this breed you will like any one of these pups. These dogs would make great companion dogs and love to be at home with their person. They would already be wonderful for someone who loves the breed and maybe is a person that wants a companion but doesn’t need them to be a dog you can take everywhere. These dogs would be ok around children. We like them to be 10 or older with the smaller dogs. Welcome Lil Bit to CCPAL Rescue foster program. Lil Bit is a 2-year-old Mini Dachshund mix. We think maybe mixed with Rat Terrier. She has the long low body and she does not have the barrel chest. She has one ear up mostly and one down. Sometimes the wind will catch the down ear and will stand it up. She is the ultimate lap companion. She gets along with other dogs and lives with a cat. She does not know how to walk on a leash at the moment. We will be working with her on that and will get her in a good harness and give her some experience. She weighs about 10 pounds and her teeth look nice. She won’t need a dental anytime soon and if you brush them, you may be able to keep them good looking. She was a fantastic momma dog to 3 adorable puppies. They are getting weaned now and as soon as her milk dries up, she will be able to be spayed. She is quiet in foster care and she is around other dogs and a cat. She is fine with all of them. She is good in a crate and on car rides. She is adorable and will make some Dachshund lover a wonderful companion. She could go with a family with children but we like them to be 8 or older. She would be great with any moderately active person looking for a lower energy lap companion. Dachshunds are very loyal and usually become attached to a single person in the home. She came to us when one woman lost her home and had to move the new landlord will not allow the dogs. She either has to go or the dogs have to go. This woman came to CCPAL to help her. We took the momma and the 3 puppies. We will post the puppies when they are older and have had 3 rounds of vaccines. She is currently in Texas waiting for her forever home. I’m a three-month-old and thought to be a dachshund mix.  I weigh about 8 lbs, but I’ve got a big personality for my size! I’m smart, curious, and love snuggling up with my humans. I’ve been staying with a foster family where I’ve met all kinds of new people and visited different homes, so I’m not afraid of new things—I love exploring! When it comes to playtime, I’m always up for fun! I love to wrestle with the other dogs in my foster home, and even though I’m small, I can hold my own. Tug of war is one of my favorite games, and I usually win! I’m teething right now, so I’m always looking for something to chew on—chew toys are the best! Oh, and did I mention I’m super food motivated? When it's mealtime, I jump up and down and bark because I’m just so excited. I even learned to sit for treats! When we go to puppy school we are going to learn so many new things together! I’m working really hard on my potty training, and I’m almost there when I’m on a good schedule. I’ve even learned how to go potty while on walks—leash training is going great! I don’t need a fenced yard, but I would love a forever family who enjoys taking me on walks because I love to sniff around and explore. I think I’d do great in a home with another dog, especially if they’re a bit older because I’ve learned a lot from my foster dog siblings, but it isn’t required. I’d be just as happy with a family who can spend time playing with me and giving me lots of love. My brown eyes will melt your heart, and I promise to fill your days with joy, laughter, and plenty of cuddles. I can’t wait to meet my forever family! Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! P lease note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
