Story
Meet Boromir! This big boy is a 3 year old Anatolian Shepherd/Lab mix, searching for his forever home. After coming to us as a stray, this sweet boy has made his mark in the hearts of everyone he has met, dog and person alike. He really only needs two things in life to make him happy: Wide open spaces, and infinite pets and cuddles!Boromir appears to be a mix of livestock guardian breeds similar to the Anatolian Shepherd. Known for being territorial, courageous, and loyal, they are highly intelligent but require an experienced owner for proper training and socialization. Anatolians are intelligent but independent and stubborn, which can make training a challenge, and can be difficult for new owners to manage.Boromir appears to have little to no experience entering buildings/doorways, being on leash, or travelling. A potential adopter will need to be willing to work on building new, positive experiences in the home, and out in the world. He prefers to come and go as he pleases, and is not comfortable with containment. If he wants to meet that dog, or chase that squirrel... he will jump that fence!Boromir is a pretty healthy guy, but he does have some ongoing medical issues that will need to be managed. The sweet fella has chronic skin inflammation that needs to be managed with a hypoallergenic diet, and may need vet checks more than once a year. Because of his lack of world experience, this will require positive reinforcement training over time to help him become comfortable with travelling. The greatest place this oversized lap dog could live his life is on a large acreage or farm with indoor/outdoor access or access to a weatherproof shelter. Boromir loves other dogs, and would thrive with doggie siblings in his life. This special boy is awaiting his wide open spaces, and his future family's wide open arms. If you think Boromir could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/*TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Bannock! She is a darling 2 year old Kelpie mix, searching for her forever home. This lovely young lady was brought to the shelter after some kind CN workers found her on the train tracks, in need of emergency, lifesaving surgery. She endured a tremendous amount of pain and fear, and still her incredibly precious personality remained constant. Bannock appears to be a mix of herding breeds such as kelpie and Australian shepherd. We aren't 100% sure on her breeds, but there is no doubt this girl is going to need LOTS to do once she has recovered from surgery. Intelligent, determined, and focused, these breeds love having jobs, games, and tricks to focus on and master. Once she's recovered, she'll need a home ready to give her both mental challenges and physical outlets, adapted thoughtfully for her special‑needs body. Mental and physical stimulation is extremely important for such highly driven dogs, and Bannock will need extra special attention, given she is still in an acute healing stage. She is currently awaiting a leg amputation and has very restricted mobility. Once she has surgery, and has gone through full recovery, because of her size she should be able to live as a fairly normal dog.Bannock would do best with guardians who are patient, consistent, and excited to help her navigate life as a high‑drive working breed with special needs. She would thrive in a calm, supportive environment with guardians committed to her long‑term mobility and wellbeing will help her continue to grow into the remarkable dog she already is.If you think Bannock could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/*TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Story
Looking to add some love to your home?! Look no further, because Jenga the pitty is absolutely bursting at the seams with it. This darling girl is a 4 year old Pit Bull Terrier mix, who was found as a stray. We don't know about her past, but we've learned a few things about her in the time she has been with us. She can be a little nervous at first, but her love for people always wins her over. Jenga gets really, really, really excited about seeing people she loves, so she might try to climb you like a tree! She loves a good walk, and knows how to be polite on leash. Jenga is clearly a Pitty mix of some kind, but we can't be sure without a DNA test. She has a very muscular build and would need a physically capable person to handle her when she gets excited. She has lots of energy to burn and would need a consistently active daily routine to help her feel calm and content. Given enough stimulation, Jenga is able to settle into her own space and enjoy some downtime.Jenga has not shown any major behavioural or medical issues that we have seen. This little lady needs some support to work on jumping up on people, but for the most part she just needs a lot of love, a lot of consistency, and then even MORE love!Jenga would love a home with a guardian who is available to dedicate plenty of time and attention to her every single day. There are many unknowns when it comes to Jenga and her preferences in a home, but there is no doubt she seeks a peaceful space with people ready to commit to loving her for life. If you think Jenga could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/*TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Story
Meet Yahtzee, a six‑year‑old pitbull with a heart as solid as his chew toys. Found as a stray, his past is a bit of a mystery, but he's ready to roll the dice on a new beginning. Yahtzee is an affectionate, confident, people‑oriented dog who lights up for companionship. He's smart, eager to connect, and happiest when he's included in the daily rhythm of life. Yahtzee loves his toys... a lot! So he would be best suited to an adopter who enjoys providing structure, sturdy activities, and interactive play that will help him channel his energy into all the right moves. He would do best in a home that understands the value of routine, enrichment, and meaningful activity.Since Yahtzee was found as a stray, we are unsure as to how he would do with another canine companion or a feline friend, so adopters would have to be prepared for slow and controlled introductions to any new furry friends! Due to Yahtzee's size and bouts of excitability, he would be best suited in a home with no young children but may do well with dog savvy children who understand that he's a large, gentle guy who may not know his own strength at times! Pitbulls are strong, loyal, affectionate, and deeply connected companions who tend to bond deeply with their people. Yahtzee would do best with guardians with breed experience who are prepared to meet his physical and mental needs. At six, Yahtzee is beginning to show some age‑typical mild hip soreness, nothing unusual for a dog of his size, but he'll benefit from someone committed to keeping him comfortable and supported as he matures. A thoughtful exercise routine, a cozy place to rest, and regular check‑ins with a veterinarian will go a long way in helping him stay active and happy. In return, he offers loyalty, affection, and a quiet kind of companionship that feels like a winning hand every single day.If you think Yahtzee could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/*TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Story
Meet Gemma!Gemma is a sweet, active little girl searching for a loving home where she can share plenty of cuddles. Once she gets to know you, she's incredibly affectionate and happiest when she's with her favorite people. Gemma prefers not to be left alone for long periods and would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. Gemma barks when left alone and isn't suited to homes that share walls with neighbors.Gemma walks nicely on leash and enjoys meeting new people. She is reactive toward other dogs and isn't a candidate for off-leash dog parks or having dog friends. However, she's a very smart girl and would likely show improvement with consistent, positive obedience training. Gemma is not comfortable living with cats or kids.If you'd like to know more about Gemma, please fill out an adoption application using the link below.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 14.3 Age: 3yrs 10mths 2wks

Story
Max is a charming 7-year-old mix with the best of three breeds and a personality that's full of heart. Known for his adorable "wiggle butt," Max doesn't just wag his tail-he wags his whole body when he's happy (which is often when he sees his favorite people). He's deeply affectionate and thrives on human connection. Max can have some anxiety when left alone, so he'd do best in a home where someone is around more often, or where he can be supported with structure and reassurance.Max needs to be the only dog in the household, as he prefers to have all the love and attention to himself. That said, he's shown a sweet curiosity and gentle affection toward kittens, which might make him a good fit for a home with feline friends (with proper introductions, of course).Max is looking for a dedicated, dog-savvy adopter who understands that behind his big feelings is a big-hearted, loyal companion just waiting for the right person to love. Please submit an application through the link below for Mr. Max!https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Red Brown Weight: 26 Age: 7yrs 3mths 1wks
