Story
Bernard ("yard name Bernie") is an amazing dog! He is currently in the Paws Behind Bars Prison Training Program where he is learning basic skills such as sit, down, stay, wait, shake and leash walking. He is a velcro kind of boy! Happy to be your best sidekick and is very medium energy and sometimes lazy as large breeds can be! He is timid because of his lack of socialization when younger so he has a very sensitive side. He's wonderful with his doggy playmates and is a great "best friend" candidate! He's on the smaller side for his breed mix (around 80 pounds) and he is gorgeous and very friendly! He is young at possibly around 2 years of age and is compatible with other dogs. To inquire or for an application, please email to Blue Ridge Animal Rescue and Sanctuary at blueridgerescue@aol.com

Brittany is a beautiful little German Shepherd mix. She is a baby at only about 10 weeks of age but already is energetic, intelligent, playful, and gets so excited to see her people. Brittany will need proper socialization and training to help her grow up to be an amazing GSD representative. With her energy, enthusiasm and zest for fun, Brittany will need a family that will give her daily physical exercise, along with mental stimulation scenarios. Story
Maple is a 2.5-year-old French Brittany who packs a whole lot of charm into her perfect 25-pound frame. Her foster family lovingly calls her “Meatball,” and honestly…it fits. She’s adorable, goofy, snuggly, and absolutely devoted to her people. Maple LOVES car rides, plush toys, and curling up next to you for belly rubs. She didn’t get much freedom or enrichment in her early life and likely spent most of her time in a kennel, so she came to us needing a refresher on potty training and some basic house habits. She’s made steady progress but still needs a patient family willing to keep her routine consistent. She can be a bit curious and may check out items that aren’t technically “hers,” so keeping tempting things out of reach and offering plenty of dog-safe toys will set her up for success. Maple does well in her kennel when her people are out of the house. She may give a little protest bark at first (she just has to make sure you know she has notes), but she settles down and rests quietly once she realizes she’s safe. Maple is not a dog that can live with or closely interact with other dogs. Through training, she has made progress in calmly seeing dogs at a distance with positive reinforcement, but pushing those interactions too quickly can cause anxiety for her. For her comfort and safety, she must be an only dog, and a fenced-in yard (ideally privacy fenced) would suit her best so she can explore and enjoy the outdoors stress-free. She’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented. Maple has mastered “sit", and is working on more tricks, but needs a little patience since she isn’t very food motivated. Maple is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Now she’s just waiting for a family who sees how special she is and can give her the structure, love, and dog-free home she deserves. Maple is currently in foster care in Wisconsin and has an adoption donation fee of $400.  If you are interested in adopting her and have been approved to adopt, let your state coordinator know you are interested in her.  If you haven’t yet done so, please go to: https://www.nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application to fill out an application.  Your state coordinator will contact you and take you through the approval process.  If your application looks like a possible fit for her, your coordinator will contact Maple’s coordinator and continue the screening process. Maple’s state coordinator is Hallie Barbara. She can be reached at Minnesotabrittany@gmail.com for questions or inquires.   Thank you for considering this sweet girl.  December 15, 2025, 9:27 am

Story
Hurley (8yrs old) has been with us since he was newborn. Our previous neighbors bred their dogs (dad was short hair husky, mom was a mutt). He is a very smart dog but needs consistency and follow through when training new commands. He wants to always be with people and close to them. He could cuddle all day. The hope is the new home is able to provide that affection and attention he is seeking.

Story
Unfortunately, I need to find Miss Daisy a new home with a very loving family. She needs a dog-free and kid-free household, preferably one with a back yard because she loves to run around and bork. She has a huge personality and loves to be babied. She craves endless attention and always wants to be where the love is. She’s a very good girl but requires a patient and doting owner because she’s just a spoiled little old lady! I originally found her on the side of the road without identification so there are lots of unknowns in her history prior to that a few years ago. She’s somewhere around 11 years old (vet assumes) and has some arthritis in her wrist joints, so she takes Dasuquin with MSM treats to help ease that. She also has a prescription for 40mg of Fluoxetine per day for separation anxiety. Her vet assigned her a weight control diet of 1/4 cup of frozen green beans with 3/4 cup of her Rachel Ray Nutrish kibble. I give her her med with peanut butter on a Dentastix.
