Story
Cali, is fun, loving and so full of energy. Loves to run and play. She needs someone who can keep up with her. Very happy dog. Likes to chase my cats, the cats do not like it at all. She is house trained but occasionally has an accident. Has dug in the past and we are still working on stopping that. She is helping with the ground hogs! If playing with a dog her size and energy it is fun, if playing with smaller or older dog - it is not fun for them. Cali can play a bit rough. Just tell her no and she stops. Loves her naps and to cuddle up with you- once her energy has been used up. She deserves more fun in her life, more than this elderly person can give her due to her energy and my age. Looking for a home that will enjoy Cali's energy and fun loving, outgoing personality. Thank you.

Story
Nico is a Malinois / Mastiff mix that is 8 years of age and around 65 pounds. He is impeccably trained with obedience and commands such as sit, stay, come, place and elevated commands such as "finish," and "peak," along with some basic scent work. He is extremely loyal to his "bonded" person and needs a savvy owner to build that mutual respect. This brindle breed mix is very intelligent and although he has lived with another dog in the past, we recommend his ideal environment be a home where he is an only pet to relax in his retirement years. He is a great companion for walks, lounging in the sunshine in a fenced yard and fulfilling the couch potato roll. He is at the age where he appreciates quieter surroundings. He enjoys human contact with his people. We would love to see him live out retirement days with a person who gives him attention, comfort, the luxury items of a comfy dog bed and lounging time in the backyard sunshine!

Story
Leo is the closest thing you will find to a living, breathing teddy bear. This handsome gentleman is 8 years old and still full of ambition and energy. If you couldn't guess by his pointy ears, luscious coat, and long, thin snout; Leo is an Australian Shepherd! Leo came to HSOC after his previous owners could no longer meet his needs, through absolutely no fault of his own. This sweet boy is simply looking for a soft place to land with people who can provide the stimulation, structure, and comfort an 8-year-old Aussie still thrives on. Leo is not too picky when it comes to his ideal home. He has done well meeting other dogs in the HSOC office and we believe he could happily share a home with canine companions. Cats definitely caught his attention, but for his first time meeting kitty friends, Leo showed no anxiety or aggression. He has made it clear that little children are very fun to herd, so we recommend a home with older kiddos who can respect his boundaries and keep the excitement to a lower level. Leo is currently pending an eye evaluation, and we expect to have more answers toward the end of February. Rest assured, HSOC will be with you every step of the way and happy to answer any questions once your application is submitted. If you are looking for a loyal, intelligent companion with a heart of gold and the fluff of a teddy bear, Leo might just be your perfect match.

Story
Samantha “Sammy” is a sweet, spunky Staffordshire Terrier puppy with a heart as big as her adorable puppy paws. She can be a bit shy at first, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her playful and affectionate personality really shines. This little lady has typical puppy energy—she loves toys, gentle playtime, and exploring the world around her. Sammy is already showing how smart she is and will do best with positive training, patience, and reassurance as she builds confidence. She is doing great with crate and potty training and will thrive with continued training. With a little time, she blossoms into a loyal cuddle bug who enjoys being close to her people. Sammy is looking for a forever home willing to go at her pace and help her grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. If you’re ready for soft kisses, happy wiggles, and a lifetime of love, Sammy may be your perfect match. 🐾💖

Story
Calling all Lab lovers! Friendly, outgoing, intelligent, energetic, and loyal? HSOC is happy to deliver. Meet MJ, a Labrador Retriever mix weighing about 67 pounds and around 2 years old. This sweet girl welcomed a litter of puppies just about two months ago and now it is her turn to be somebody’s baby. MJ has not met a stranger here at HSOC. She has love to give for days. She can be a little jumpy when she first meets you, but once that initial excitement passes, she becomes the perfect lounging buddy. Whether she is curled up by your side or resting at your feet, MJ is happiest just being near her people. If you leave MJ alone in the play yard for even a moment, you will come back to find her soaking up the sunshine. Even if there is only a tiny sunny spot, she will find it. She glows even more when she is relaxed and content. This mama bear has a gentle heart. We believe MJ would do well in a home with children. She has not yet played directly with other dogs at HSOC, but she has done well through fences and has lived with other dogs in the past. A meet and greet is required for any canine siblings. MJ can also be cat tested upon request. If you are ready to add a little extra golden sunshine to your daily life, MJ is ready to meet you. Submit an application on our website today!
