Story
Buddy is a spirited, loyal 70-pound pit mix who has been patiently waiting for his forever family since September 2021. His journey has been full of near-misses. Buddy was first found as a stray, and while the good Samaritan who found him hoped to keep him, Buddy didn't get along with the resident dog, so he was brought to the shelter. Not long after, Buddy's original family recognized him from a shelter post. They even shared a sweet video of Buddy in their yard, happily popping bubbles with a young child, but despite this connection, they didn't come to bring him home. Since then, Buddy has remained hopeful, eager to find a family who sees him for the loyal and loving companion he is.In his time with us, Buddy has made huge strides in his training, graduating from the Puppies for Parole program. There, he worked on house training, crate training, basic commands, and leash skills. He also became muzzle-conditioned, which helped him gain confidence around other dogs in a controlled environment. Buddy has a playful and energetic personality, making him an ideal match for an active household. He loves tug-of-war, outdoor adventures, and would thrive in a family that enjoys walks, hikes, or even jogs. When heading out on a leash, Buddy might pull at first, but he quickly settles into a relaxed, loose-leash pace. In his kennel, he shows his tidy side by keeping his space clean, hinting at a natural habit for order and structure that could make him an easy fit for home life. As a dog who enjoys being the center of attention, Buddy would do best as the only pet in the home, where he can fully bond with his new family and shower them with loyalty and affection.Buddy's ideal family will appreciate his enthusiasm and enjoy staying active alongside him. A family that can continue his training, provide structure, and embrace his fun-loving spirit would be the perfect fit. This resilient "Forget-Me-Not" dog has been waiting for far too long, but he hasn't given up on finding his family. If you're looking for an adventure partner with a big heart and boundless love, Buddy is waiting to meet you. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 69.4 Age: 6yrs 9mths 1wks
