Dawson is 10 months old. He is fun and full of energy. He needs more attention than I can give him because of working hours. I would like him to have a home with kids that will play with him and keep him busy. He just needs a home where he will get a lot of love and attention.

Story
Meet Sheeta! She’s a very sweet and loving girl who loves treats and pets. Though she can be skittish at first when meeting people, she warms up very quickly. Need's lots of room to run around and would prefer a home without any animals (cats, dogs). She does have a brother but they aren’t bonded and shouldn’t be in the same home anymore. They have some rising issues which will take time to fix unless you’re willing to put in the effort. But other than that she a great campaign, a little princess who loves to be spoiled!

If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at... diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744. Meet Haumea – The Heart You Don’t Want to Overlook Haumea may not turn every head at first glance. She’s not the kind of dog most people would call “fancy,” and she doesn’t need to be. Her beauty lives deeper — in her eyes, in her steady presence, and in the gentle joy that radiates from her heart. If you pause for just a moment and truly look at her, you’ll see it — the quiet grace of a soul that’s pure, loyal, and endlessly loving. Haumea stays right by your side, as if she’s always known that companionship is life’s greatest gift. Her heart is joy in its most honest form. She gives it freely and asks for nothing more than a place to belong. Whoever looks past the surface and chooses this beautiful girl will gain more than a dog — they’ll gain comfort, laughter, and a love so constant it will change their days forever. Adopting Haumea won’t just be a good decision. It will be the best one you ever make.   Please email us at diane@ulpr.org and request an application. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 9, 2025, 1:23 am

Black Mouth Cur

Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
HENRY is a younger adult Cur mix of some sort. He's just under 50 lbs and fully vetted. He's a friendly guy and good with other dogs so far, and can be playful, as well. He can be a somewhat exuberant and rough player with other dogs, but not in an extreme way/ He enjoys walks and is good on a leash. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
KANE is an adorable almost year old medium mix of beagle-houndish origins if we had to guess. He's sweet and loves people and gets along with all the other dogs he's met so far. He's fully vetted and he's doing great learning the ropes of leash training and has a fun, curious energy. He likes to follow his foster around the house or get comfy with them in sight. Kane's already learning some commands, as well. He loves to play and has been a big hit at events we've brought him to. He loves playing fetch and will even bring it back most of the time, He is a big cuddlebug and loves to give kisses. He's just under 50 lbs and should be about full grown or close to it. We've just learned that he is NOT great with cats. FYI he came to us quite underweight and has put on a little weight proportionately since some of the earlier pictures shown here.
