Story
ORCHID/ Female/ 4 and half years old/ Mixed Breed/ 48 lbs/ Located in Trent Hills, ON Good with dogs/ No kids or cats please/ Crate and house trained *Orchid’s adopters will be automatically registered, at no extra cost, with the Pup Parents Training with Doggytime Canine Care & Rescue, as well as lifelong support from Doggytime Hello my name is Orchid, orchids are often seen as a symbol of strength and resilience. Coming all the way from Saudi Arabia to Canada and a past life on the streets I was reluctant to trust humans when I first arrived. I have been through countless days of training in attempt to be the best dog I can be. Passing my training with flying colours i am very eager to get back into the world and share my love with a new family. I am looking for an adventure buddy, someone who is playful, and would enjoy exploring. I walk well on a leash and have excellent recall skills, I even respond to cute nicknames- i will zoom over and look up longingly for a treat. I need proper exercise and mental stimulation as they are key for my success, i love learning new tricks and playing brain games. I have already mastered all the basic commands and would love to learn new creative ones! Stuffies are no match for me, I love to show ‘em who’s boss and have the fluff fly everywhere! I get along well with other well- balanced dogs, and thrive in an environment where I can run and play around with my doggy friends. I would also do well in a house with another dog who can match my energy, and not only play with, but learn from too, or as a solo dog so I get your full and undivided attention, but no cats please! I would also be fine with respectful kids 13+. Having trust issues I can be cautious and nervous around strangers at first, but with time I can learn to trust and get comfortable with new people. When I get scared I often look at my human for reassurance instead of reacting. My new family should be committed to continuing my training to ensure ongoing success. Previous dog experience would definitely be an asset for whoever decided to adopt me, but as long as my new family is willing to learn how to best support me, I will be a happy and good girl. My ideal forever home I am hoping for is in a quieter area ( rural or suburban) as the city life is too overwhelming. A backyard to play in would definitely be a plus! My paws are crossed for an understanding, patient family who would help this fun-loving and playful girl meet her full potential. I hope to be worthwhile, while I attempt to bring your life happiness! Having waited to be adopted for 4 years now I have come to understand that it is hard to bring someone with a troubled past into a loving home. However, I have worked long and hard to be the best dog I an be. I cant wait to meet my new family, BFF and partner in crime! GRIN / 10 yrs / Male / Mixed Breed / 11.5 kg / Rescued from Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society / Neutered / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date I solemnly swear that I’m up to no good… And I’m looking for a partner in crime! Good with cats and respectful/patient dogs Untested with kids House and crate trained Home outside of Toronto preferred Hi there! I’m Grindelwald, but all of my friends call me Grin. Despite the villainous name, I’m a quirky, cute, and independent companion. I promise I won’t be getting into trouble like my namesake, unless you consider sleeping, hanging with my fosters, or sun tanning to be trouble. Oh, and my best trait is I am a master at recall and can show you a trick or two! I have enjoyed my time in Toronto, but the big city life just isn’t for me. I’d love to live in a suburban or rural town where it’s quieter and low key. A relaxing family who enjoys walks and enjoys all of the snuggles will be perfect for me! If your family has furbabies, I am completely amazed by cats and would live well with them. Dogs will need to respect my boundaries, but we can be good friends if that’s the case. That being said, I am totally going to cuddle on you and your favourite blanket. That favourite blanket? It’s mine now. And, when I’m at home, I’m pretty independent so I can be left crated or free roaming – I understand my humans can have super busy days! I don’t mind doing my own thing and bringing out my inner couch potato. When you first meet, I can act pretty shy and hard to get. You know, the whole look but don’t touch vibe? Being a ten-year-old Puggle, I’ve met a handful of people who weren’t too nice so I like to be cautious. Once I get to know you though, oh man! That’s when all the cuddles begin! If you’re concerned you’re coming on too fast, I will let you know with a little growl. When I was first learning my manners, I did give a warning bite but that’s because they didn’t understand boundaries or social distancing. These days, my friends know the real me and I wear my hockey goalie mask muzzle to avoid the people who just don’t understand “no.” If you can respect my boundaries, I will be the love of your life! We can share cuddles, sun tan together, and enjoy naps on our favourite blankets. I don’t mean to humble brag, but I am super lower maintenance. That’s me in a nutshell! I’m a quirky, independent fellow who loves being a couch potato. If you think we’d be a good match, reach out to my friends at Canine Haven Rescue to set up a time to chat! **PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED - https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/* For inquiries please do not use Adoptapet/Petfinder inquiry button - send an email directly to hello@caninehaven.org

Story
JUPITER / Female / 3 yrs / Mixed Breed / 28kg / Originally from Texas / Fostered in Toronto Good with dogs and kids / Untested with cats / House and crate trained
Meet Jupiter, she’s outta this world! This sweet girl has such a big heart with so much love to give - she’ll make the centre of her universe in no time. With those big amber eyes and her adorable grin, one look from Jupiter will have you falling head over heels for her. Snuggling up next to you for an ear or belly rub is totally her jam, along with chewing on her benebone, getting treats from her kong, and long snoozes. Jupiter will be over the moon every time you walk through the door, even if you’ve only been gone a few minutes, but quickly returns to chill mode. She likes a few good walks a day with some play time sprinkled in, but otherwise is a pretty relaxed gal. Jupiter is the best of both worlds! She can be a little nervous around new people at first, but soon happily accepts ear rubs and doles out kisses. What can we say, this girl loves to love! Jupiter gets extra excited to go on walks, and other than some pulling when she sees a squirrel, is a pro on her leash. She does get the zoomies every one in a while, and when she does she’s faster than a speeding comet! Jupiter’s been gentle with the kids she’s met on walks, and would likely be happy in a home with a dog savvy kid. She likes to play with other dogs, but has shown a few instances of resource guarding around them, which her adopters should be aware of. Jupiter would be happy in any type of home environment, but especially loves chilling outside in a backyard or park. Jupiter had puppies recently and is now ready to live her best life. To the world you may only be one person, but to one dog (like Jupiter) you will be her whole world. How amazing would that be?? Apply today to adopt Jupiter! https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/

Story
💛Bernie 💛 Located in St. Catharines, ON Age: 1 year Sex: Male (Egyptian Baladi/mix) Weight: 60 lbs Woof woof! My name is Bernie, and may I just say, you look like a pawsome candidate for my furever family. Life started out a bit rough for me as a wee pup, wandering the streets of Egypt, but things are looking up now. At 1.5 years old, I still have that puppy spirit! I've been lucky to live with my foster family for 8 months. They love me so much and want to make sure I find the best home ever. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I have loads of energy and love it when my brain gets a workout. I respond really well to mental stimulation and training. So, I'm hoping to find an owner who can give me the freedom I crave, while also providing some structure. Having a doggie door and a fenced-in yard would be a dream come true for me. I thrive when I have the space to entertain myself. I'm a cuddler through and through. If you let me into your bed, we'll have the coziest snuggle sessions at night. Oh, and did I mention how smart I am? I pick up things quickly and love being challenged. So, continuing my training will be super important. You’ll have so much fun watching me grow into your perfect match. Also, I absolutely adore doggie daycare. It's a great way for me to socialize and get all the exercise I need. I do have to be honest with you about walks. Traffic scares me, but I've come a long way. I've learned that cars can take me to fun places, and now I enjoy car rides. As for other pets, I'm totally cool with cats. Once I sniff them and realize they don't want to play, I leave them alone. Whether you have other dogs or not, I'm adaptable. I'm truly a wonderful pal. I'll be your protector, watching out for squirrels, birds, and any other wildlife that comes our way. All I want is a family to call my own, with older kids who understand my training and respect my needs. Trust me, I've come a long way. With the help of a trainer, we've improved our communication and now understand each other perfectly. My foster family have been instrumental in demonstrating just how much a good routine, consistency, and unconditional love and acceptance can change your life. Story
MAX 2 💙 Fostered in Schomberg, ON From his foster mama: From the moment I saw Max, I knew he needed to make his way to Canada to find his forever family. Max is a 1 yr old male husky. He weighs aprox. 45lbs( and needs to gain more weight). Beautiful, sweet, blue eyed Max came here from Cairo, Egypt, 5 weeks ago. Max was friendly with us from the start and was good with our 3 dogs, but very reserved. Max spent alot of time sleeping, the first few weeks and whined if outside walking for too long. He preferred to be in the house, near people and the other dogs, where he felt safe. As Max gained some weight( he was extremely thin), got his strength back and started to trust us, we started to see more of his personality. He is very much a husky! He howls when he is happy to see you, he is intelligent(a very fast learner)and playful. He knows sit, stay( though he’s still selective with that), leave it, and walks pretty good on a leash(though still can pull, as huskies tend to do) so we keep working on this. He is getting better at not bolting out of the house and learning to stay, until we say he can exit the house( still needs work with this as, he can get excited with the other dogs and forget) Max is always on a leash outside and never outside on his own( he can slip his harness and his collar). While inside, he is also on a leash, attached to me, and this is most of the day while I am home. This keeps him from getting into something he shouldn’t and learn the rules better, etc. Max is very good with just chilling in the kitchen while I putter, or laying by the couch while I watch TV. Max is being crate trained and though he hated it for the first few weeks, he is doing very well adjusting to it. He has stopped whining at night and is good throughout the whole night. The past 2 days he has started going into the crate on his own and having a sleep with the door open. He still needs coaxing to go in at other times, with a treat. Max s crated when no one is home and through out the day, periodically wen we are. Max would do well in a house as the only dog, or a house with another dog, but it should be a female dog , unless your male is very docile and submissive. Max was quick to bond with my females but he and my male dog are hot and cold. The more comfortable Max gets, the more he tries to challenge the male. Max being on Leash helps a lot to avoid any issues. Max is great with children, but sometimes jumps up on young children due to excitement. Though he gets better every day. Max will bond well with his people and is very content to be nearby relaxing l. He will make a wonderful, loyal companion to anyone willing to take the time, to continue proper training, to help him be the best dog be can be.
