Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.MINCE PIE hails from the Northern community of Pikangikum and came south to find his forever family. He’s had his first two sets of vaccines, Revolution flea and tick treatment and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. He was found wandering around in the community all alone so we have no information on either parent and although he’s very much a Husky, we don’t know what other breeds are in him. That also means we really have no idea of the size he’ll grow to be. This young fella is all Husky and we are looking for a Husky experienced owner for him. He’s very loving and good natured but definitely has a stubborn Husky streak to him. He’s very playful and loves to be surrounded by many toys to play with including chewy ones like Nyla bones. He loves a frozen carrot to chew on and ice cubes to chew on for teething. MINCE PIE is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night without a peep. When it comes to being in their during the day though (which isn’t very often) he’ll carry on for a bit to let you know he’s not happy being in there but will eventually settle down. He’s working on house training and it’s still a work in progress. He loves to go on walks and he goes regularly as he has lots of puppy energy to burn off. He‘s fostered with another puppy, several dogs so he’s well socialized with dogs and loves to play with all of them. He’s fostered with a cat and several kittens and the funny thing is, rather than chase them he just sits quietly and watches them interact with each other. He should do well with a cat in the home as long as it’s a dog savvy cat and as always we recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them while the dog is kept leashed. We do require children to be aged 6 years of age and up plus they should be kind, gentle and loving towards animals.  MINCE PIE’s ideal family would be an active one with a love and understanding of Huskies and all that comes with the breed. Plus be an active one that loves to go on big walks and hikes in the woods. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. We always recommend a slow, monitored introduction to other animals in the home while the new dog is kept leashed. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided be’s not left alone for long periods of time and isn’t crated in day for extended periods of time either. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe and also have somewhere to run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to attend puppy/obedience training to help him be the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet if preferred and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a photo of him (preferably in his cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If MINCE PIE sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 24, 2025, 8:09 am

Story
Meet Charlotte - the plushie-toting, tennis-ball-chasing queen of the zoomies!🐾✨This gorgeous 2-year-old black lab/shepherd mix may start off a little cautious, but give her a moment to get to know you, and she'll show you her bright, playful, totally endearing personality. She isn't a "fall in love at first sight" kind of girl - she prefers to take her time with new people. Charlotte is looking for someone who's willing to commit to more than one meet-and-greet and has the patience to help her work through her little bout of "stranger danger." But once you're in her circle of trust, she'll reward you with a deep bond, silly playtime, and endless affection. She loves carrying her plushies everywhere she goes and will happily chase a tennis ball as long as you can keep throwing. On walks, she'll check in with you for reassurance, but don't let that fool you - she's a smart, quick learner who grows more confident every day. Charlotte has shared a home with both cats and dogs and gets along well with furry friends who match her vibe. Small kids, though? She'd prefer to keep the "prime zoomer" title for herself.😉 If you're looking for a loyal companion who blossoms with patience, consistency, and love, Charlotte may just be your perfect match. She's ready to warm up, open up, and shine🐾✨If you would like to meet Charlotte, she is staying at 91 Patterson Rd in Barrie. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LUMINOX hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and came south along with her 4 puppies to find living homes. She was a loving, attentive mum and now she deserves to get that loving family she’s always dreamed of. She’s spayed, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We can definitely see the Husky in her but not so much the Lab but she does have the loving, soft nature of one. So basically the breeds are just our assumption and she probably has many more in her too. She’s a bit under weight so could still do with gaining a few pounds which she should now seeing as she’s no longer nursing her puppies. She’s a sweet girl who just wants snuggles, toys and food. She loves her people and will be their shadow and follow them room-to-room because she doesn’t want to lose sight of them. Belly rubs? Did someone say belly rubs? This girl absolutely loves them and when she has her fosters full attention, she’ll then flop onto the floor and roll over so she can get that full-on belly rub.   LUMINOX is crate trained and will sleep well in it at night but not such a fan of it in the daytime so she is kept in a secure room and will settle down f er right away. She does well on her walks but we do not recommend anytime soon that she be off leash until her new owner is well acquainted with her and she’s very trusting of them. She’s housetrained and will let you know when she has to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves her belly rubs and will lean into her foster to let her know she wants them and when she gets their full attention she’ll then flop on the floor for her to give them. She loves to be in the water and she’ll run into it at full tilt and then lay down in it especially after a nice long walk in the woods. She enjoys car rides but sometimes needs bit of a boost to get her in there. She has the funniest quirk of when she’s going somewhere she’ll flop on the ground and go limp. However, she’s fine to be picked up and her smaller size makes it easier to manoeuvre her. She’ll do this sometimes at night when it’s bedtime and time to get her into her crate. She does this as she’d much rather stay with her people and she envisions herself lying on the bed rather than in the crate. She’s well socialized with dogs of all sizes and a lot of different breeds and she also has 2 of them in her foster home. They walk and play well together and love to burn off energy by playing chase in the back yard. She does have a prey drive so we’re saying no cats or critters in her new home. She’s only met children aged 10 plus and did very well with them so we are recommending they should be over the age of 10yrs and be gentle and loving towards animals.  LUMINOX loves to play with toys especially the squeaky ones. She has to be monitored with them though as she’ll chew through them pretty quick to get at that squeaker. So we’re recommending the toughest toys for her like the Kong brand and Nyla bones to chew on. She’s very food motivated so it’s very easy to teach new tricks and commands with treats. She already knows sit, paw, down, come and stay to name a few. Although she already knows these commands we do strongly recommend that her new owner take her to obedience/training school and it’s also a great way for her owner to bond with her. She’s great at sniffing out kibble too and has raided her kibble bin a couple of times so food should be kept well out of her reach. She doesn’t show any signs of  resource guarding with people when it comes to food or toys and they can safely be taken from her. She does require a fenced in yard and one that is secure as she’ll go on a mission to find gaps in it and try to escape. She does have a prey drive so  absolutely no cats or small critters in the home for her. She does chase after bunnies and other critters and one time she did manage to catch a bunny and it unfortunately didn’t survive.  If LUMINOX sounds like she’d fit into your home then please submit an adoption application to meet her.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 20, 2025, 11:47 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.RIVIAN hails from Constance Lake and headed south to find her forever family. She’s spayed, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She was found all alone with no other family around so the breeds we have her listed as and the weight she’ll grow to be is just an educated guess. This super sweet young lady enjoys being is very social and loves to be around people as well as other dogs but she’s now decided she’s not a fan of female dogs. So we’re now saying that if there’s a dog in the home it should be a male one. She knows all the basic commands and sits nicely for her meals plus will take treats “gentle.”  RIVIAN is house trained and she knows to take her bathroom breaks outside and when she’s on her walks. She’s crate trained and the odd time will complain when she goes in but she does settle down quickly and then will sleep quietly in it all night. She’ll also take her naps in it during the day and she often goes on car rides (which she loves) and is crated in the vehicle. She has lots of toys she plays with and is quite happy when she has a bone to chew on or even avow hoof. She’s very social and has several dogs in her foster home and she really enjoys chasing them and playing in the yard. It should be noted that she was recently adopted but then returned to the rescue due to an interaction with a cat in the home even though she was fostered with a cat with no problems at all so we’re saying 100% no cats or small critters in the home. Once she was returned to rescue our wonderful puppy trainer said she would take her to foster. She’s doing great with her and is becoming used to a structured routine. The trainer has noticed that she can be bossy so a dog savvy adopter for her is a must. She also has some tendencies to resource guard but nothing crazy that she can’t be trained out of. She also mentioned she has a lack of impulse control and that’s being worked on with the trainer too. She has been around children and they all love her but if there’s any in the home we are saying they should be aged 12 and up as per her foster/trainer put it “is a bit of a brute with her plays and cuddles so no kids under 12. Is super loving. Loves her big yard!” Any children should be very dog savvy and be loving, kind and gentle to animals.  RIVIAN’s ideal family (besides being very dog savvy) would also be a very active outdoorsy type who’ll take her on lots of walks and hikes in the woods. She travels well in a vehicle so she’d love to go where you go and that includes adventures, camping and trips to the lake as she loves to go swimming. She will need a family that’s committed to continue her obedience training to make sure she’s the best girl possible. This of course can be continued with our trainer but you can take her to your own trainer to continue it if preferred. It’s also a great way for her new adopter to form a bond with her. A fully fenced-in yard is required for her so she can run around and play to burn off some of that “Rivian” energy.  If RIVIAN sounds like the perfect girl for your active home then please submit an adoption application to meet her.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 4, 2025, 1:59 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.NAAN hails from the Northern community of Pikagikum and came south with her sister, Pita, to find her forever home. She’s received her first 2 sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She was part of a litter of 8 puppies but this rescue only received 2 of them. We really don’t know the size she’ll be but she did come into the Northern Network with her mum who looked to be a Black Lab mix of around 55/60lbs but we have no information on her dad. The same can be said about the breeds we’ve states as we just go by what she looks like due to having no info on her dad. She’s an active little lady who loves to run around and play with the other dogs in her foster home. She’s currently teething so she has lots of chew toys including Nyla bones to chew on. She’s quite shy when you first meet her but once she gains your trust she’ll turn into your best friend and be a shadow who follows you around everywhere.  NAAN is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will nap in it during the day too. House training is going well but she’s not yet at the stage where she’ll ask to go out but if you watch for the signs you’ll know when she wants outside. She loves to go on walks and like all puppies she’ll try and race ahead of you. She’s now learning that she can go to the bathroom while outside on her walks too. She does eat her food very quickly so is currently using a slow feeder and it is recommended that she continue to use one until she slows down with her eating. She does have good manners and will sit for her meals and also take her treats “gentle.” NAAN’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks in the woods. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. She’ll do well in a home with other dogs as she’s fostered with several of them and she loves to socialize with them too. Seeing as she’s never met a cat and if one is in her adoptive home we strongly recommend a slow, monitored introduction while she’s leashed for the first few times they meet up or interact. She should do well as an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement.
