Meet VIOLETVIOLET / AGE: 9 yrs / FEMALE / BREED: GERMAN SHEPHERD and HUSKY MIX / WEIGHT: 90lbs (41kgs) / Currently fostered in WARKWORTH, ONGood with other dogs, older children and farm animals (cows and horses)NO Cats pleaseHouse trainedMajor medical concerns: NoneMeet Violet, a gentle soul with a quiet charm that’s impossible to resist. At around nine years young, Violet is gracefully stepping into her golden years and searching for a peaceful retirement home where she can be cherished as much as she’ll cherish you.Unlike most dogs, Violet doesn’t bark — she speaks. Her soft vocalizations are reserved for special moments, like mealtime, which she absolutely adores. She’s had two TPLO surgeries, so she prefers short, leisurely walks, but that doesn’t stop her from playing with her favourite squeaky toys in the yard. Her playful spirit still shines through, especially when she’s surrounded by the things she loves: treats, food, and squeaky balls.Violet is wonderfully social and carries herself with the grace of a seasoned hostess. Off-leash, she’s Miss Congeniality, getting along beautifully with other dogs and greeting people with friendly curiosity. Her personality is a lovely blend of curiosity, intelligence, and quiet affection. She’s also impeccably clean and fully house-trained, making her an easy and delightful companion. Her ideal home would be in a quiet rural or suburban setting — she’s comfortable around cows and horses, but cats and city life aren’t her cup of tea. A secure, fully fenced yard would give her the outdoor space she’s used to, and she’d love to share her days with another calm, balanced dog. Violet thrives in a mature household, preferably without young children, though older teens are just fine. She would be happiest with someone who works from home or is retired, someone who has time to share with her and is looking for a loyal companion to walk through life together. If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful friend who will fill your home with love and gentle companionship, apply to meet Violet at www.caninehaven.org/dog-application. She is waiting patiently to meet you!Spayed / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date**PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED -https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/*

Story
TRAVIS / Male / 4 years old / Mixed Breed / 50lbs / Rescued from Hamilton Animal Services / Fostered in TorontoGood with well-balanced dogs / Untested with cats / Older kids only / House and crate trainedTravis is a 4-year-old, medium-sized bundle of energy and enthusiasm who’s ready to leap into his next chapter, with you of course! Travis is a confident, curious, and playful guy who loves trying new things - whether it’s agility, hiking, fetch, or any dog sport you can think of, Travis is all in, even if he’s not a pro at first. What he lacks in polish, he makes up for with heart and determination, and will keep you laughing and smiling all day long. This athletic pup thrives on adventure and would make an amazing partner for someone who enjoys staying active and having fun with their dog. With his higher energy, Travis does best with daily walks, play sessions, and training games to help keep him engaged. The good news? He’s fabulous on walks, especially with his head halter, and loves exploring the world around him.Travis is crate trained, house trained, and can be left alone for stretches of time. He’s mouthy and still learning his manners, but he’s eager to please and enjoys practicing new skills. When meeting new people, he’s excited and friendly (sometimes with a little too much enthusiasm!), but his happy energy makes him a joy to be around. Due to some jumping and mouthy behaviour, he would do best in a home without small kids. Social by nature, Travis loves other dogs, but he can be a bit much at first—think overexcited puppy energy in a grown-up body. Because of this, he’d do best with a confident handler who can help him continue working on polite greetings. Travis could live with another dog, but it would need to be the right fit—ideally a well-balanced dog who’s okay with slow introductions and can match his energy without being overwhelmed. Travis would do well in almost any living environment - apartment, house, or busy neighborhood—as long as he gets enough exercise and structure to keep him happy. With the right balance of activity, patience, and love, Travis will be the ultimate loyal and fun-loving companion. This sweet boy is ready to make you his whole world! ?BEAR / 10 yrs / Male / Yellow Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever mix? / 60 lbs (27 kgs) / Currently fostered in Roseneath, ONMajor medical concerns: gastric ulcer - he thrives best in a calm, low-stress environmentMeet Bear, a wise and wonderful 10-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever mix from Roseneath, ON, whose golden spirit is as warm and comforting as a sunny afternoon nap. Weighing in at about 60 pounds, Bear is the kind of dog who’s mastered the art of living gently—he’s quiet, clever, and always ready for a peaceful stroll or a cozy cuddle with his favorite toy.Bear’s gentle nature and calm demeanor are perfect companions for someone who appreciates life’s quieter moments. He’s house and crate trained, walks like a dream on leash, and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. With excellent recall and zero interest in resource guarding, Bear is the kind of trustworthy buddy you’ll never have to second-guess.Bear does have a gastric ulcer, so he thrives best in a calm, low-stress environment. His ideal day? A relaxing walk in nature, a bit of playtime with his favorite toy, a tasty meal followed by classical or country tunes (his two favorite genres), and a long, satisfying nap in a comfy bed. He enjoys meeting other dogs on walks but would prefer to be the only dog in the home so he can fully enjoy his golden years in peace. While he’s friendly with people one-on-one, Bear is not one for crowds or hustle and bustle. He’s hoping to find a home with a dog-experienced, gentle-hearted person who can offer clear rules, consistency, and lots of outdoor adventures. A rural or suburban setting with green space and a fully fenced yard would be his paradise.Bear doesn’t need chaos—just someone who values calm companionship, loves outdoor time, and believes that joy can come from the simple things: a quiet walk, a kind word, and a soft place to rest.Could your peaceful home be the one where Bear can continue to shine?Neutered / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date**PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED - https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/*

Story
Toby / 2 years / Male / Mixed Breed / ~77lbs or 35kg / Rescued from Northumberland / Currently fostered in OshawaGood with older kids and other dogs with proper introductionsUntested cats and younger kidsHouse and crate trainedMajor medical concerns: noneIf you’ve ever wished for a dog who is equal parts genius, goofball, and cuddle monster, allow us to introduce Toby—your future best friend and part-time laundry enthusiast!Toby is a snuggle bug with a PhD in affection. His morning routine includes burrowing into your side like a furry croissant before you’ve even had your coffee. He’ll press his whole body against you with such commitment, you’ll wonder if you accidentally adopted a weighted blanket. But don’t be fooled—this pup is pretty smart too, so smart in fact, he’s basically running a one-dog enrichment program. He’s mastered so many commands including sit, paw, other paw, down, wait, come, bring it, drop it, off and even “touch,” which he now uses to politely boop you with his nose instead of his teeth when he wants attention.Speaking of attention, Toby has a signature move: the Laundry Chair Heist. If you leave a pile of laundry on a chair (which you plan to fold sometime before 2028), Toby will casually stroll over, pluck a sock or shirt from the pile, and parade it around like he’s modeling for a canine fashion magazine. But here’s the twist—he doesn’t chew it. He doesn’t even hide it. He just wants you to notice him. If you ignore him, he’ll just drop it like it’s no big deal. If you offer a treat, he’ll weigh his options like a little furry economist deciding between fame or fortune. He can be reactive with some other dogs and has made a lot of progress with training, but here’s the amazing part: if he’s in the middle of a good game or you ask him to bring you his ball before he sees another dog, he’ll avoid the dog drama and choose playtime instead. When he’s focused, he’s incredible - especially during his favorite soccer-style game, where he’ll chase the ball with such joy, you’d think he’s auditioning for Team Canada. That’s huge for Toby, and it shows just how far he’s come with his trust and training.Toby’s ideal day includes at least two long walks, a good chew session with his beloved bones or bully sticks, and some brain enrichment toy time. He doesn’t love going into the crate, but once he’s in, he settles like a champ. He’s house-trained, furniture-approved, and improvi

Story
ORCHID/ Female / 5 years old / Mixed Breed / 18kgs;40lbs/ Located in Trent Hills, ON Good with dogs and older, dog savvy kids / No cats please / Crate and house trained Hey there! My name is Orchid! Just like the beautiful flower, I can also be seen as a symbol of strength and good luck. Coming all the way from Saudi Arabia with a past life on the streets, I was reluctant to trust humans when I first arrived. Passing all of my recent training with flying colours, I am very eager to get back into the world and share my love with a new family. I am looking for adventure with someone who is playful and enjoys exploring. I’ve been told I walk well on a leash and have excellent recall skills… all I really know is that if it means I get yummy treats, I am happy to oblige. Lots of exercise and mental stimulation are important to keep me happy, and learning new tricks is one of my favourite pass-times. Stuffies are no match for me- I love to show ‘em who’s boss and have the fluff fly everywhere! I get along with other well-balanced dogs, and enjoy an environment where I can run and play around with doggy friends. I would do well in a home with another dog who can match my playful energy and help me learn to make the most out of domestic living. No cats please! I would however be fine with respectful, dog savvy teenagers. I can be cautious and nervous around strangers at first, and take a little longer to warm up to men, but with time and patience I can learn to trust and be comfortable with new people. My new family should be committed to continuing my training and helping me continue to build confidence. My ideal family lives in a quieter area (rural or suburban), as city noise is too overwhelming for me. A backyard to play in would definitely be a bonus! My paws are crossed for an understanding, patient family who can help me continue to learn, trust and reach my full potential. Fostering is a fun and rewarding way to have a trial run with one of our of dogs. H?U?BERT/ M?ALE / 5-7 yrs old / Mixed Breed / 70lbs / Rescued from Hamilton Animal Services / Fostered in OshawaHouse and Crate Trained / Good with dog-savvy cats Older ?or dog savvy kids only? pleaseMeet Hubert — The Ultimate People DogIf you’re looking for a dog who makes you feel like the most important person in the world, Hubert is your guy. This handsome shepherd mix has a heart as big as his smile — he’ll snuggle up the first time you meet him and lean in for as many pets as you’re willing to give.Estimated to be around five to seven years old, Hubert’s playful and curious energy suggests he may be a bit younger at heart. He loves squeaky toys, lick mats, and backyard ball time — even if his version of fetch sometimes ends with him keeping the ball. He’s also a quick learner who enjoys training sessions and already knows sit, paw, touch, place, wait, spin, and down. One of his sweetest habits is how he greets you when you come home — tail wagging, eyes bright, and a look that says, “I’ve been waiting for you!” He just loves to be near his people and makes every day feel a little warmer.? At home, Hubert is a well-mannered gentleman. He’s fully house-trained, non-destructive, and happy to relax while his foster is at work. At bedtime, he trots into his crate without a fuss, knowing a treat awaits. Hubert would thrive with an adopter who appreciates his affectionate nature and playful energy. He’s still working on leash reactivity toward dogs and bikes, so he’ll do best with someone patient and confident handling a strong walker?. Because he can be protective of food and toys, Hubert is best suited as an only pet, ideally in a home with adults or older kids who understand dog boundaries? and preferably in a? home in a quieter neighbourhood with a backyard for him to call his own.If you’re looking for a loving, people-oriented dog who will brighten every day with his warmth and enthusiasm, Hubert is ?your guy!
