Story
Dixie is an 8-month-old husky mix that weighs approximately 25 lbs and has the brightest blue eyes you’ve ever seen! Dixie came to us in April 2026 on a rainy day when her and her mom were running all over the highway, darting traffic and unsure where to go. A good Samaritan saw them, did a U-Turn and got out in the pouring rain to try and coax them into her car. At first Dixie and her mom didn’t want to come, but the good Samaritan sat on the highway and offered them food until mom got close, and then Dixie got close. She was able to safely get both in her car and drive them home. The mom was a spaniel mix and was adopted! Dixie we do not believe will get very big as her mom only weighed 30 lbs full grown, and we do not know who dad was. Dixie is kennel trained and is learning commands. With some one on one time, she will master them in no time. She is VERY smart and eager to learn. She loves other dogs and is currently being fostered in a sanctuary along the Texas/Mexico border. This sanctuary is only a temporary place to house animals while we find them their forever homes. So small or big dogs, she gets along wonderfully with! Dixie is learning still to trust humans. She needs a home where her family is patient, understanding and gentle. Another dog in the home would really help Dixie come out of her shell. If no other dog in the home, at least a home that can offer play dates or even take her to doggy day care! She is learning to play with toys and loves them. Dixie is a gorgeous girl that deserves the best. Please consider adopting Dixie! Dixie is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on dewormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. To apply to adopt you can go to our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org This animal is currently located in Texas, but we do NOT adopt animals out in Texas due to the hundreds of animals being euthanized here daily. We ONLY do adopt in Central US and the East Coast. The adoption fee listed ($525) INCLUDES transport from Texas to the location where this animal is posted in. Transport goes to the following locations every 2-3 weeks: (Certain areas vary depending on adopters in the area) Albany and Latham, NY Wells and Brattleboro, VT Willington, New Haven and Dayville, CT Port Chester, NY Dayton and Akron, OH Grove City and Bloomsburg, PA Ridgefield and Mt Laurel, NJ White Marsh/Elkton, MD Falls Church, VA We have happily adopted hundreds of animals this way (long distance), and we do our best to make sure the animal you are applying for is best fit for your home.

Story
Penny is a gorgeous Rhodesian ridgeback mix that weighs approximately 50 lbs and is the sweetest girl! She is approximately 1 year and 3 months old and was found in January of 2026 in a cemetery with about 12+ other dogs. She was fending for herself, finding food, water and shelter where and when she could. This awesome girl absolutely loves other dogs; big and small. She is currently being fostered in a sanctuary in south Texas, along the Texas/Mexico border. This amazing sanctuary is only a short term stop for this baby until their forever home is found. They are the ones who originally found her and got her to safety, before reaching out to us to help in placing their animals in the homes they deserve. She can be a little shy right at first, but it doesn’t take her long to warm up and become your loyal, best friend. Penny is very active and loves to romp around the yard and play with the other doggies. The happiest she is, is when she is with other dogs and they have toys to play tug-o-war with. We strongly recommend another dog or dogs in the home, or consistent doggy friends/doggy parks/doggy day-care that she can go to. Where Penny currently is, has pigs and she enjoys playing with them too! While she does love to play, she is very gentle when she does. She is not overly rough. She is a bit of an escape artist as she just enjoys being out and about. Penny is MOSTLY house trained, just needs consistency to master is 100% Penny loves car rides and walks okay on a leash, will need a bit more work on the leash to become perfect. She has great recall once she is familiar with the area. We learned she is an escape artist as she climbed a 4-foot fence and got out. But all she did was explore a little bit and then go to the front door of the home and wait to be let in. She is such a good girl! An ideal home for Penny would be one that is: Active, wants a dog that loves to go on adventures Wants a best friend, a dog that will be your shadow Has another active dog to play with and tire each other out The fosters favourite thing about Penny: That even after she was dumped and left to starve to death in the middle of nowhere, she still trusts people and is the sweetest, most loving baby. This animal is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm positive (they have received the 30-day course of antibiotics and need to stay on heart worm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested then), current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
Rum and Tequila are 2 gorgeous mixes that weigh approximately 35 lbs each and are approximately 1 year old. While we do not know their exact breed, they are full grown at 35 lbs – We believe they could be a mix of pointer, heeler, beagle and maybe dalmatian. These 2 girls are NOT bonded, but they were found together and well… you can just look at their spots and see how similar they look! Rum and Tequila were found with their mom and another sibling. The mom and brother have since been adopted, but the finder originally wanted to keep these 2 girls but can no longer. They were found behind a liquor store when they were only 8 weeks old. The clerk had made a small shelter behind the store out of liquor boxes, hence how they got their names. This is their first time being listed for adoption, so they finally have a chance to find their forever home. Both girls are very similar in personality (and looks!) They both LOVE children and would be fantastic in a home with all age children. Tequila has been sleeping in by the side of the bed of the foster’s children and just loves it. Rum and Tequila love other dogs and would thrive in a home with or without them. They are not overconfident, but they are not scared either. Rum and Tequila are the perfect middle ground of just going with the flow. They have met all size dogs and no issues. Both dogs have been introduced to cats and just ignore them. They show no prey drive therefore we believe they can live happily with cats with proper introductions. Rum and Tequila are crate trained and house trained. They know how to walk on a leash, and they both do well on it! They ride in the car with no issues and would be great as adventure buddies! The only difference the foster does point out is Tequila is calmer but still loves her play time. Rum is more active and playful and would be better suited in a more active home while Tequila would be fine for a calmer home/medium active home. These dogs might as well be perfect. They are sweet, friendly, loving, playful, gentle, kind and they love all animals and all people they meet. They are super smart and would make the perfect addition to the perfect home. Rum and Tequila are spayed, heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on dewormer and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
Hazel is a 10-month old brown eyed beauty. Unfortunately, Hazel has been looked over time and time again. She came to us in November 2025 with 2 other siblings, who got adopted right away but Hazel stayed behind, going unnoticed. Hazel is super sweet and very gentle. She loves to be next to you and be your shadow She loves other dogs and is currently being fostered in a sanctuary along the Texas/Mexico border. This sanctuary is only a temporary place to house animals while we find them their forever homes. So small or big dogs, she gets along wonderfully with! Hazel is both house and crate trained. She is very kid friendly and would do great with children! One thing about Hazel is she LOVES the water. If you’re looking for a dog to go on adventures with you – hiking, to the ocean or anywhere that involves playing in bodies of water, Hazel is your girl. She is obsessed with going in water. Small bucket of water? No problem! Hazel said “If I fits, I sits” The foster stresses just how sweet this girl is. And she is ONLY 30 lbs!! She is tiny and she is considered full grown! She has met kitties and she is not bothered by them. Please consider giving Hazel the home she has been longing for. This doggy is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on dewormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
Coco is a brown-eyed beauty looking for her forever home in the Northeast! She was found with her brother, Bruno, who is also available for adoption, on the back roads of south Texas. We believed they were dumped as there were no houses or people for miles and they were just 3 months old at the time they were found. Bruno and Coco are estimated to be born around October 2025 – they have been in foster care since 3 months old. Bruno is 55 lbs and Coco is 46 lbs. Both Bruno and Coco are currently being fostered in a sanctuary in south Texas, along the Texas/Mexico border. This amazing sanctuary is only a short term stop for these fur-babies until their forever homes are found. They both LOVE the water and getting into the kiddo pools and their water bowls when they can and when they fit! They would make great adventure buddies. Both Bruno and Coco love sleeping on the couch – they will cosy in wherever they fit and sleep all through the night without making a sound. The foster says this about CoCo: What makes her the happiest? Sunbathing, running around and playing in bodies or small buckets of water. Very much a water girl. Playing with other dogs, especially her brother, Bruno. What is her personality? She acts like she is independent, but she is not. She loves her human foster and attaches to her like Velcro when she is around. She is crate trained too! Kids? Other Dogs? Cats? Good with older kids! She loves all dogs, big and small. She has not met cats but can be tested if an applicant is interested. Car Rides? Leash? Any Fears? CoCo enjoys car rides when she gets them, even if they are to the vet. She walks very well on a leash. So far, the foster has not noticed anything she is afraid of. She seems to shrug off anything and go about her day. Ideal home? A playful one where she would get lots of toys, lots of treats and DEFINITELY lots of belly rubs! CoCo loves her belly rubs. This animal is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
Vaquero is a 5-year-old black mouth curr mix that weighs 46 lbs. He was found in October 2025, in some fields in a small town called Edinburg that is located along the Texas/Mexico border. When we got him, he had severe mange and was just in horrible shape. He had almost no hair, was so scared and was skin and bones. How someone could let a dog get like the shape Vaquero was in, is beyond us! He was SOO scared and looked like he was on deaths door. And now? Vaquero is a whole new dog. He has done a complete 180! This once shy boy that was very scared of humans is now always happy to see people and interact with anyone he comes across. He loves getting his pets and getting loved on. There are no long-term effects to what this boy went through, so don’t worry! He loves other dogs and is currently being fostered in a sanctuary along the Texas/Mexico border. This sanctuary is only a temporary place to house animals while we find them their forever homes. So small or big dogs, he gets along wonderfully with! Vaquero would do great in a home with older, gentle children as this boy, while he loves to play, he more love to relax and just hang out. He is very much a Netflix and chill type of dog. TV? Yes, please. Treats? Give him more. Nap? Say no more, he is already signed up and, in the bed, waiting. Vaquero has met kitties and does fine with them! He LOVES car rides and staring out the window as you’re driving. He is house trained. Please consider giving this boy the chance he has never had; a FOREVER home! This doggy is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on dewormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
