💕 Meet Wanda!
Wanda is approximately 11 months old, the smallest of her litter, and quite possibly one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. 💕🐾
We believe she is considered full grown at a whopping 26 lbs!! She will not get any bigger, unless you feed her too many treats, which she will definitely enjoy.
Wanda and her siblings Black Widow, Peggy, Hulk, Nebula, and Thor were found at a construction site in South Texas along the Mexico border, along with multiple other dogs. They were hungry, tired, and looked completely defeated.
Thankfully, the six puppies and several of the other dogs were rescued and brought to a safe sanctuary, where they have been thriving since March 2026.
Wanda was the runt of the litter, but don't let her tiny size fool you — she's got plenty of personality packed into that little body!
💕 The Sweetest Little Runt
Wanda is VERY submissive and incredibly gentle.
She is the kind of dog who wants everyone to be her friend and absolutely does not want conflict. Because of her submissive nature, she can unfortunately get bullied by more assertive dogs. She doesn't defend herself or stand up for herself, which means any dogs in her future home must be kind, gentle, and respectful of her boundaries.
Her foster has even given her little pep talks about standing up for herself. 😂 But honestly, Wanda is so sweet that being bossy just doesn't seem to be in her nature!
She loves everyone she meets and has a gentle, affectionate personality that makes her incredibly endearing.

Wanda loves her toys, but unfortunately for the toys, she doesn't believe in preserving them for very long. She tends to rip them apart into tiny pieces. So her future home may want to invest in some seriously durable toys!
🍽️ She Has Something to Say About Dinner
Wanda is also quite good at communicating with her foster.
When her food bowl is empty, she will sometimes push her bowl toward her foster as if to say:
"Excuse me. I believe there has been an oversight. My bowl is EMPTY." 😂
She's food motivated, so this clever little girl definitely knows how to get her point across!
🧠 Smart… But Easily Distracted
Wanda is curious and genuinely tries to learn. She likes to pay attention and figure things out, but she also has a short puppy attention span.
With all the activity and other dogs around, it's understandably difficult for her to concentrate for very long. She would likely do best with someone who can give her patient, positive training in a calm environment.
She may start out paying attention…
…and then suddenly remember that playing is much more interesting. 😂
💦 Water Girl — On Her Terms
Wanda likes water, but there's an important distinction:
She likes water. She just doesn't necessarily like YOU getting her wet. 😂
She's perfectly happy enjoying water on her own terms, thank you very much!
🏡 Wanda's Ideal Home
Because Wanda is so submissive, her ideal home is one where she will feel safe, protected, and respected.
She could live with other dogs, but they need to be gentle and socially appropriate. A dog who constantly overwhelms, chases, or bullies her would not be a good match.
She could also absolutely thrive as an only dog, where she can soak up all the attention and affection herself.
A family with children could be a wonderful fit, provided the children understand how to be gentle and respectful with a small, sensitive dog.
She would love a home that offers:

Wanda may be the smallest of the litter, but she has a huge heart.
She came into the sanctuary as a frightened, defeated little puppy, and now she's a sweet, curious, playful, affectionate girl who loves people and wants nothing more than to be loved back.
She doesn't need to be the toughest dog in the room.
She just needs someone who will make sure she never has to be.
If you're looking for a gentle little companion with a huge heart, a love of belly rubs, and absolutely no respect for the structural integrity of stuffed toys, Wanda may be your girl. 💕🐾
Wanda is spayed, heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.

This animal is currently located in Texas, but we do NOT adopt animals in Texas due to the hundreds of animals being euthanized here daily. We ONLY do adopt in Central US and the East Coast.
The adoption fee listed ($495) INCLUDES transport from Texas to the Northeast.

We have happily adopted hundreds of animals this way (long distance), and we do our best to make sure the animal you are applying for is the best fit for your home. With an approved application, we do put you in touch with the Texas foster who has the doggy for you to make sure they are the perfect fit.
