Meet Hutch! 🐾 Hutch is a very active guy with a big personality and plenty of energy to share! He loves staying busy and would thrive with an active family who can keep both his body and mind engaged. Hutch is heartworm positive, but there’s no need to let that scare you away. ❤️ Our rescue financially covers his heartworm treatment as long as he receives his treatment through our veterinarian. When it comes to other animals, Hutch is not good with cats. He seems to do okay with the right female dog, but he can become jealous and prefers having his people all to himself. Because of this, we feel Hutch would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home. Hutch is looking for an experienced family who understands his energy, personality, and need for continued guidance. In return, he has so much love and fun to bring to his future family! If you’re looking for an active companion who is ready for his next chapter, Hutch may be your guy! 🐶❤️

🐾 Meet Barkley! ❤️ Barkley is a handsome, playful boy who was found as a stray in New Jersey and is ready to leave his stray days behind and find a family of his own! This guy loves to have fun, especially when water is involved! He enjoys chasing the hose, splashing through puddles, and playing ball. After playtime, Barkley is happy to settle down and show off his sweet side with plenty of kisses and affection. ❤️ Barkley is easy to walk on a leash, knows “sit,” and enjoys spending time with people he trusts. He may potentially do well with the right female dog, but for now, we're recommending that Barkley be the king of the castle so he can soak up all the love and attention. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate adventure buddy who will keep you smiling, Barkley may be your guy! 🐾💙

Meet Allie 🐾 Allie is a very sweet girl with a gentle heart who deserves the chance to know what it feels like to be truly loved. ❤️ Allie is a former puppy mill momma, and despite everything she has been through, she has remained such a sweet and loving dog. She is now learning that life can be safe, comfortable, and full of kindness. Allie is currently Lyme positive and heartworm positive. She has already started treatment for both and is handling her treatments very well. ❤️ Her heartworm treatment will be covered by us as long as she continues to receive it through our veterinarian, so her future family won't have to face that expense alone. While she has been with us, Allie has done well with male dogs. She has been outside to play and potty with several different male dogs and has handled those interactions nicely. This special girl has already given so much of herself. Now it's her turn to be someone's cherished companion. She deserves a warm home, a soft place to land, and a family who will show her just how wonderful life can be. 🐶💗 If you're looking for a sweet, deserving girl to add to your family, please consider Allie. She is ready for her happily-ever-after.

Meet Candy! 🍬🐾 Candy is every bit as sweet as her name! This gentle girl is a former puppy mill momma who never produced puppies, but unfortunately still spent her life in a puppy mill environment. Now, she is ready to leave that chapter behind and learn what it truly means to be loved and cherished. Candy is good with children of all ages and does well with male dogs. She has a sweet, gentle personality and is looking forward to all the wonderful things she has missed out on—soft beds, loving attention, fun adventures, and most importantly, a family to call her own. ❤️ Candy has so much love to give and deserves a home where she can finally be someone's beloved companion. After the life she has had, we would love nothing more than to see this sweet girl spoiled and adored. If you're looking for a gentle, loving girl who is as sweet as her name, Candy may be the perfect match for you! 🍬💕

Story
8/5/26: Lucky's foster just wanted to take a moment and give an update of how this gorgeous girl is doing! - Meet Lucky! Lucky truly lives up to her name—she's a happy-go-lucky girl with a joyful personality and an endless love for life! This sweet shepherd is incredibly intelligent, observant, and eager to please. She loves spending time with her people, whether it's playing fetch with a tennis ball, enjoying a squeaky toy, or simply staying close by for belly rubs and affection. Lucky has come a long way since arriving at Char-Wills. Her beautiful, soft coat is growing back nicely thanks to good nutrition, plenty of water, and loving care. She enjoys staying active and would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard or a safe place to run and play on a long lead. While squirrels and chipmunks may catch her eye, Lucky redirects well and is an excellent listener who enjoys working with her handler. She also makes a wonderful watchdog and is always aware of what's happening around her—even noticing when the water is boiling from another room! Lucky would do best as the only pet or in a home where she can enjoy walks away from other dogs, setting her up for success. She is currently thriving in her foster home, where she continues to shine every day. Lucky is available for adoption and can be brought to Char-Wills for a meet-and-greet by appointment. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a fun-loving spirit, Lucky may just be the perfect addition to your family. --- 7/20/26: 🏡 Currently in Foster Care This dog is currently staying in a foster home and is not on-site at the rescue. They are still available for adoption! If you're an approved adopter and would like to meet them, please contact the Char-Wills office. We'll be happy to coordinate an appointment with the foster family so you can meet them at the rescue. --- 7/12/26: Meet Lucky! Lucky is a classic German Shepherd with a true warrior's soul. With her fierce gaze and commanding presence, she is a companion to behold. While she may not physically look the part just yet, Lucky is well on the mend and has made incredible strides in the short time she's been with us. Coming to us from very unknown origins, the best we can surmise is that Lucky has been a victim of neglect. From Georgia, to Maryland, and now finally Pennsylvania, she has done quite a bit of traveling since the beginning of 2026. Despite such a rocky start to her story, Lucky is a fighter and isn't ready to give up just yet. Lucky isn't about to let any of the young punks around here tell her what to do! She has a tough aura about her—one that the right adopter will truly appreciate. Beneath that strong exterior, however, she's beginning to let her guard down. After just a few days to decompress, Lucky started showing us her true colors and the wonderful potential she's always had. We've even caught glimpses of her softer, more playful side, and we'd like to think those moments bring us back to her innocent puppy days. Lucky is very people-focused and would thrive in a quiet home with minimal traffic, where she can be someone's very special companion. She rides well in the car, moves around comfortably, and continues to blossom a little more each day as she learns that life can be kind. Now, Lucky is looking forward to meeting prospective adopters who can offer her the quiet, loving, and patient home she so deeply deserves. If you're searching for a loyal companion with resilience, strength, and a heart that's ready to heal, Lucky just may be the perfect match. --- 7/1/16: Hello, everyone! I would like to say that I have just arrived at Char-Wills on 7/1/26. We're not entirely sure about Lucky's background other than she's looking for a loving home! There will be more information to come in the next week or so as I get settled in!

Meet Atlas! 🐾 Atlas is a handsome boy who is ready to experience the good life he never knew existed. He came to the rescue as a former puppy mill father, and he is now learning what it means to be loved, cared for, and part of a family. Atlas recently tested positive for Lyme disease and is currently receiving medication. Thankfully, he is handling his treatment very well, and we fully expect him to make a complete recovery. ❤️ After spending his early years in a puppy mill, Atlas deserves a quiet, loving home where he can finally enjoy all the simple things every dog should know: soft beds, gentle hands, tasty treats, and a family of his own. Atlas is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. He is ready to put his past behind him and begin a brand-new chapter. His life may have started in a difficult place, but Atlas's story doesn't have to end there. He is ready for his happily ever after. 🐾❤️
