Story
I am a Vet tech who has a soft spot for hounds. I pull hounds specifically, from high kill shelters, assess them and find them forever homes. Cedrus (ceddy) is 9yo and an interesting fella. His background is unknown. The high kill shelter I got him from said he was a stray. While Ceddy has been good with dogs of all sizes, he is what I would say- socially awkward. He is not aggressive by all means, he just chooses to be a loner. I believe he would thrive best as the only dog in the house. He has shown no interest in my cats. He is and UTD on vaccines. He is heartworm negative and just received his Proheart 6 injection and 3 month dose of Bravecto. My ideal home for this guy would be a relaxed home without kids. Cedrus would love to have someone to sit on the sofa with so he can rest his chin on them and watch his favorite true crime shows. Keep in mind Ceddy is a hound and LOUD. No apartment living for this guy. He would prefer a fenced yard to run with his toys. 🙂🐾

Story
Mazy is an all-black Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix with a bit of white on her chest and one toe. The vet estimates she's about a year old. Mazy has the playful energy of a puppy but is house-trained and understands basic commands. She’s comfortable sleeping in her crate and knows how to go into it on command. Mazy gets along well with other dogs, often playing and wagging her tail. Despite our efforts to find her owners, including posting on social media and checking with shelters, we haven’t had any luck. We found Mazy after a close call with a car near an apartment complex. She had made a nest in a wooded area, suggesting she may have been abandoned. She appears to have had puppies at a young age and may be spayed, as she has a belly scar. Mazy has soft black fur and loves resting her head on your lap for pets. She’s well-mannered and stays off furniture. We are now looking for a loving home for Mazy where she can get the care and affection she deserves.

Story
Meet Bella Stella, a sweet 11 year old, 14 pound little Yorkie girl being fostered in Azle, TX. Only TX residents will be considered. Bella came in with her sister, Bessie. Bella and Bessie are still waiting on their forever homes. In the meantime, foster mom has them on good, healthy dog food from Royal Canine and one is especially for diabetic dogs like Bella Stella. Bella and Bessie are sweet as pie and just love tummy scratches. Little Bella’s eyes are a little better. Her vision is low but she sees the Vet Ophthalmologist about every two months to have her eyes checked and get medicine to help her produce tears since she has dry eyes. This little senior lady loves to sit in your lap, get her head scratched and cuddle. She takes insulin to keep her diabetes managed and she is on medication for Cushings. She will have another blood draw in a month to check her drug levels for the Cushings. She and her sister Bessie check on each other and periodically and remain close to each other. Even though Bella has a hard time seeing, her sister stays close and Bella knows her way around the house and yard. UYR continues to pay for her meds and vet visits so any help with her ongoing expenses would be appreciated! Bessie 22-074 Our little Bessie is also doing very well. She is healthy and a talker! She wastes no time letting you know it is dinner time, and keeps any eye on her sister Bella Stella while she eats. Bessie is playful and also a cuddler. She loves belly scratches and being close to her humans. Bessie and Bella Stella must be adopted together. They are precious girls that just need someone to love on them and keep them on their diets and medication. If you are interested, please go to UYR.us, looking for love and fill out an adoption application.
We'll also keep you updated on Bessie's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Meet Koby, a handsome 3 year old, 9 pound Yorkie boy being fostered in Azle, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. Meet UYR's Koby. He is a 9 pound 3 year old Yorkie. You may wonder how this precious boy came into rescue. He was an owner surrender at the local animal shelter. The surrendering owner wanted this baby euthanized - yes, you read that correctly EUTHANIZED!!! The intake sheet for this boy showed he was aggressive and attacking the humans in the house. A fellow yorkie lover contacted UYR and asked us to help this boy. UYR contacted one of their volunteers and asked her to assess this boy at the shelter and report back. With treats in hand, the UYR volunteer went to the shelter and immediately knew this baby was not aggressive but was neglected and possibly abused in his prior "home". Within minutes Koby was in the volunteer's lap (now foster mom) and ready to go home. Koby gets along with all of foster mom's dogs, big and small. He just wants to be held and loved. He is taking a little longer to adjust to foster dad, which is very telling about his former home life. Foster dad is patient with him and feeding him treats and slowly, Koby is warming up. A home with someone who has a LOT of love and attention to give to Koby is what this boy needs. He will not go to a home with small children. Koby wants to sit in your lap and stay close to his human. He will go to the vet soon and a date will be scheduled for a neuter. He is otherwise healthy! Koby may take some time to warm up to the men in your home so patience and a firm but loving hand will be key to his success. He has a lot of puppy behaviors and would love walks and lots of play time. If you think you have the perfect home for this boy, please to go UYR.us and fill out an application. Foster mom will be looking for someone that wants to give a lot of love and affection to this boy.
