Story
Rosie is a lovable three-year-old lab and pit mix, adopted a year ago from Hickory Creek Animal Shelter. It breaks my heart to rehome her, but it’s what is best for Rosie. I am moving out of the country, and putting her on a flight in the cargo hold would cause her irreparable psychological trauma. Rosie suffered some trauma with her prior owner and is anxious, so sudden loud sounds are scary and she has separation anxiety, which requires daily medication. With her meds she is goofy, food motivated, a ball chasing fiend and is becoming a cuddle bug. She loves water! Rosie loves her human, is skeptical of men at first, and is a great guard dog. She has been around children before with no issues but has never lived with kids. She has dog and cat brothers that she gets along very well with, but would maybe do best in a one dog home where she gets all the attention. She is crate trained and knows basic commands. She requires daily exercise. Rosie will truly be a wonderful best friend!

Story
Tanner is a happy, goofy, affectionate, and athletic boy. He is so smart and knows all the basic commands: sit, stay/wait, down, leave it, find it. He is currently working on "relax" and "no bark". Tanner enjoys playing fetch and going for walks & runs. Tanner is nervous around new people and will need time and patience from his adopters. We are looking for a foster-to-adopt situation with no other animals or children where he can grow into his new home. He will need to continue his professional training and visits with his behavior specialist vet. A home with a backyard is a must. An adopter with experience with dogs, preferably large dogs, and with reactive or fearful personalities/behaviors would help Tanner transition best. He warms up to women much faster so a female adopter would be great. Tanner is a special boy with lots of love to give if you put in the time and have patience. Contact us today to meet Tanner!

Story
LOUIE LOUIE (available for adoption) Meet Louie, a 1 year old, tall Labrador with a happy, playful personality. He is about 1 1/2 years old and 68 pounds.    Louie came to us very skinny, and we have been working to put some weight on him. We are pretty good at that!!!  He has a healthy appetite that fuels fetch sessions and tumble time with his doggy foster brother. He’s gaining a little at a time, whatever he does not burn off during play. Louie is neutered, vaccinated, on heartworm prevention and microchipped   Louie would love to be part of an active family. Louie gets along well with other dogs, and enjoys having both people and dogs for company. He is a big boy, and a baby at heart. His favorite things are squeaky toys, his football, treats, the water, and buddies.   Louie wants to be near the action, and does not want to miss anything. He is enthusiastic in all things, and is learning to be gentle. He is an eager learner and picks up on things quickly. He is housebroken and crate trained.   After a full day of living life to the fullest, Louie settles down easily through the night. Then he wakes ready to do it all again.  Louie will need a fenced back yard with plenty of grassy area for play time. He would really love another dog buddy about his size in his new family. He is being fostered with kids and does great with them. Due to his size and energy level, Louie would be best with kids at least 6 to 8 years old. He has not been tested with cats.    Louie wants to be your BFF, that’s Best Fetching Friend!!  If you are in the DFW area, please see our web site for information on adopting this precious boy. Our adoption fee is $295.  www.LoneStarLabRescue.org

Story
CIERRA If you ask Cierra, she is a princess looking for her crown! Cierra is a beautiful pure bred Labrador, about 2 years old. She absolutely loves to be with people and will snuggle up for attention if you let her. Cierra is about 67 pounds, so she is a great, smaller sized Labrador. Cierra has a lot of bounce when you first meet her, but she settles down pretty quickly. She is well house trained, likes her big crate and walks nicely on the leash. She is very smart and catches on quickly. Cierra came to Lone Star a few months ago. We don't know much about Cierra's background, but she was a nervous girl when she first arrived. She is taking some medication that we are sure can be stopped, once she is settled in with her new family. Cierra did not have much training prior to coming to Lone Star. Her foster mom & dad have been working with her to teach good manners, crate training and house breaking. She does not play nicely with other dogs, so we are looking for a home where she can be the center of attention with no other dogs. A home with a 6 foot privacy fence is required for the Princess Cierra. Cierra would probably be a good companion to kids over the age of at least 8 or 10 years old. She is probably too strong and bouncy for little ones. Cierra is a very healthy girl with bright eyes and a shiny, chocolate coat. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, on heartworm prevention and microchipped. If you live in the DFW area and are interested in adopting a princess of your very own, please complete our adoption application. Cierra's adoption fee is $295.

My sweet Apollo needs to find a new home. He is 5 years old completely house broken and does not need to be crated when we are not home. Very well behaved, loves laying in your lap, and great with people. He just recently stopped getting along with my other dog. He will need to be the only dog in the house.

Story
Who's kiddo is ready for their first best friend? I know from experience, having an amazing dog with your child to bond with can be incredible!   It's been three years since this girl was rescued from the local shelter euthanasia list after her family tied her up in the back yard and moved out. She is yet to find her family and she is about to loose her foster family too.   Tracey will be another dog stuck in boarding if we cannot find her a new foster family or a FOREVER HOME.   Tracey is such a super sweet girl!   She absolutely loves kiddos, big and small and very much enjoys human time! Sunbathing and naps on the couch are her next favorite activities!   When we first pulled her from the shelter, I remember how nervous she was. She clearly hadn't experienced love, but you could tell she had a lot of love she wanted to give. She likely had never been inside of a home before. The TV completely freaked her out and she was shaking just walking in the door. Marleigh was almost 2 at the time. When Marleigh fell asleep on the bed, Tracey wanted to be next to her and she slowly belly crawled up on to the bed to be next to her. I could tell she was expecting to be scolded but that didn't happen and she layed right next to Marleigh, put her head across her back and went to sleep with her. She wanted to comfort Marleigh and being close to her clearly comforted Tracey as well.   Her first foster home didn't work out and she was moved to her current foster home when their son was just a baby. She always wanted to be next to him and has been fantastic growing up with him as well.   Tracey is so gentle and so loving and she deserves a family of her own to love.   PM us if you're interested in finding out more about this beautiful, goofy girl or fill out an application for adoption!   She is 5.5 years old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and successfully completed heartworm treatment in her time with us!   She is crate and potty  www.MarleighsFriends.org  ##544803##
