Welcome to the Wonderful World of Rescue Dachshunds.  Look around and read their bios.  Find a few whose personality seems to fit well.  Consider one of our Well Seasoned Seniors who are truly wonderful and have so much to offer.  Need help finding the best fit?  We'll help with that too.  Please fill out an application and let’s get you all matched up with a loving new “furever’ companion and friend. You’ll find the application on the “Available Dogs” page.  NOTE:   Adoptions to Central/South Texas residents only    Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Hi my name is Henry and I am an 9 year old sweet, older gentleman that loves to go on walks.  I get so excited when I see the harness, I run around and jump around. I love food, including anything left unattended on the coffee table. I weigh around 23 pounds. I have some aches and pains and they cause me to not like to be picked up very much or rubbed too hard. I do like laying next to my foster brother and sisters. I like to be on the big bed, but will get down and go sleep on a dog bed.  My foster Mom was surprised to see that I like baths.  She is very gentle when picking me up and putting me in the tub and I love her rubbing shampoo into my fur.  I come out smelling good and looking more handsome than normal. I have discovered tennis balls and love playing with them.  I am learning to share them with other dogs and people.  I like to play with my foster brother even though I can't play very long as my joints start to ache. Younger children make me nervous but would do well with teens and adults who are careful with my sore joints.  If you are looking for a sweet-natured mature chap to give you his undivided attention, I am your man! Hooper is 9 years old and 23 pounds.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Maya Butterscotch is available and looking for her special forever home!  Maya came to DDRTX from another rescue deep in South Texas.  They reached out to us because she was paralyzed and would need extensive care. Maya Butterscotch is a wonderfully sweet, playful, 1 year old girl.  And although she scoots around, it doesn’t hold her back!  She loves to play fetch – and will play fetch by herself by tossing her toys and chasing them if no one is available!  She loves meeting new people dogs, loves to meet dogs of any shape and size, loves treats and green beans, and is a well-rounded happy girl!  Her little barky howl will simply melt your heart! We believe she is part dachshund and part basset hound which makes her a little larger than your average dachshund at around 20 lbs.  She uses a diaper, has her own wheelchair, and is very healthy.  She has fully recovered from an ulnar ostectomy surgery and is continuing water treadmill therapy.  While she will sway her tail, twitch her legs, and occasionally stand on her own, it is determined she will always be paralyzed and won’t properly walk on her own. Maya will need a family that understands how special she is.  A family that understands her needs, is willing to change her diaper several times a day, will actively play with her, and will love her unconditionally!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. I love to go on walks.  I am working on getting my figure back after a lot if extra treats.  I have mastered the doggie door, and I like to spend time outside just playing in the grass.  I am crate trained and sleep all thru the night. I have a lab sister and two other doxies in my new house, we all get along just fine. I like  to run thru the house like I am running a race with my mom when we go outside or go for dinner.  I like to be a lap dog,  I prefer my dads lap best,  but I will sit next to you as well.  I have mastered the stairs and can get on my spot on the couch all by myself.  I am looking for a nice new family to help me stay healthy and young!!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. He is a door darter, so you will have to be careful with open doors!  He can be a little barky and really loves having his people home more often.  Kane does have some skin allergy issues.  He is on Science Diet dog food to help with it and he has a special shampoo that also helps. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Bonded with Holly Bea - Bonded pairDouble Dapple Chip may be blind and mostly deaf, but with his absolutely precious “seeing eye” sister, Holly (also a double dapple) there to help him, he’s close to perfect!  these two are friendly, gentle, loving, kissy, and soak up the attention.  One would have a hard time realizing he’s vision impaired as he easily discovered his “space” and can go in and out the dog door just perfectly fine.  If you have a smaller yard, and a dog door, he’ll easily learn how to maneuver and Holly will help him (and you!) immensely. they are as loving as they are gorgeous!  Please consider offering these two a place in your home for the rest of their days so that they can live life with comfort, security, and lots of snuggles.  Chip is 13 years old. Chip and Holly are a bonded pair, thus they need to be adopted together!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
