Hi! I’m Gypsy! I am a golden retriever mix who’s at that golden age stage where I’m not as active as a puppy but not as slow as a senior. I am about 2.5yrs old (10/2021). Unfortunately, through no fault of my own, I was bounced around a bit between different owners, so I haven’t had a stable home yet. But that’s where YOU come in! I’m hoping my sweet golden eyes with entice you to welcome me into your home forever. With my past of being bounced around, I do have some anxiety (more so in a kennel for long periods) but I do take a daily anxiety medication that helps. Just put it in a pill pocket and I’ll gobble it right up with my morning meal. I love playing with toys, kids, and other dogs. I have been known to be more of a dominant female, but only to some female dogs. I like to sniff cats at first, but then will completely ignore them. I ride great in a car – I love looking out the windows! I am crate trained (although may whine a little at the start knowing you’re going) & house trained. I am a great mix of calm and activity, as you see I will cuddle with you on the couch during the movie times but also would love to have zoomies in a yard or go for a run. This is Sunshine, she’s a Golden Retriever born approximately 4/7/21. I’ve been fostering Sunshine for a couple months and she’s made tremendous progress from her first days with me until now. She still needs some encouragement to come out of her crate and move away from her safe zones but once she’s out she does cautiously roam the house with my resident dogs.  Sunshine is skittish of loud noises (thunderstorms, fireworks, etc), sudden movements and is still cautious of new people. When she’s startled, she will retreat to the comfort of her crate.  Sunshine is not completely potty trained but is very close. She does potty outside when you take her outside. She is also trained to use potty pads inside.  Sunshine struggles with walking on a lead. We have tried many things but she tends to get defensive and begins to pull back the more you try to walk. At night, Sunshine sleeps in her crate which again is her safe space.  I think Sunshine would do best in a home which has another dog, as she is totally trusting and very comfortable with the resident dogs. She would also benefit from having a fenced in yard. Dunne, which is pronounced “Dune,” is a very special boy who made the journey all the way from Afghanistan to come live in Minnesota. He is a sweet, gentle, 50 pound golden mix born 1/1/22. He is just starting to adjust to his new surroundings and has learned so much in the last few weeks. Poor boy has not had much for socialization, we are working with him but needs more time to learn to "be a dog" we recommend he is the only dog for a while. Dunne loves to be around his people so much that being kenneled is hard for him. He is not a fan of the kennel, he gets calming treats when we have to leave or when he has to be in his kennel. He loves car rides and loves to be brushed and pet. He nudges your hand for neck scratches. He also loves getting a bath. He is very concerned about pleasing others and is easily trained.  He has a very mild, sweet disposition with a low energy level. He would probably love a doggie companion to help show him how cool it is to be a dog in the USA. He will be a dedicated companion with lots of love to give. Silas is a one year-old golden or lab mix. Silas was rescued as a very young puppy from Louisiana and has been living in northern Minnesota with four other dogs, a cat, and an infant. His family recently realized that they could no longer care for such a large number of animals and Silas and two of his friends were surrendered to a local shelter. Silas is a very sweet dog who is house trained, and crate trained. He walks well on a leash and is quite the little charmer. He will be a good fit for a variety of homes. Silas is currently fostered near Crystal Minnesota. Part of the adoption process is coming to meet at the dogs location. I’m very, very sweet and still learning all about receiving love and affection and I do like it!  I do enjoy hanging out with people but I also have a mischievous side when I think you’re not looking.  Away from home is hard for me.  I am so nervous and freeze with anxiety.  I will bolt if I get the chance.  So I will need a fenced yard as even leashes are new.  I am 99% potty training when on a schedule and am clearly crate trained, since that’s where I feel the most safe.  But I do know some commands like “sit, outside, go potty.” If you say “in” by my kennel, that’s when I know you want me to get inside.  So I’m super smart!  I would love to have another confident dog in my forever home to help me learn how to be a dog and teach me all the things.  You’ll find me to be loving, gentle, shy, sweet and absolutely precious.  But if you are patient enough to help me over my anxieties, I promise to reward you with all the love and affection you expect from a dog . *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans.
