Story
We adopted her as a puppy from Friends of Madera Animal Shelter. She is three years old and has a lot of energy. She loves long walks and hikes and mellows out really well after exercise. She is very happy and loving and just wants lots of love in return. She is definitely trainable and had been at one point but we fell out of regular training and she picked up bad habits of not listening, leash and territory aggression (toward other dogs, not toward people) but has shown great promise in just a couple training sessions. We have two children (ages 6 and 9) who she loves dearly but needs guidance on how to appropriately play with young children (lots of jumping on them and can be mouthy to show joy). We are looking for a new home for her because the training, exercise, regular care and costs fall on one person in the household and this is no longer sustainable. We love her but she is not living her best life in our home and deserves more attention and training from a new home.

Story
Dolly, spayed female, 3y-5-m-old, 44-lbs If you would like to give DOLLY a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Dolly has an easy-going temperament, very playful and lively. She loves people and is sociable around other dogs and stays calm when meeting cats. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight; not a chewer or barker. Dolly is most suitable for an outdoor loving family, and/or as an addition to family with dog. Dolly’s rescue story: Driving home during a stormy night, the rescuer spotted a dark moving object in-between the traffic lanes. When she stopped her car to check it out, she found Dolly moving toward her slowly, wagging her tail. She didn’t seem injured but apparently had difficulty moving. Dolly followed the rescuer to her car and off to the hospital they went. The doctor’s diagnostic was that Dolly simply suffered from starvation. Under the care of her foster family, Dolly regained her hearth and received proper training. But being a dog with black color coat has hardly any chance to be adopted by local people. Hopefully Dolly can start her new life aboard. Dora, spayed female, 1year-10months-old, 32-lbs If you would like to give DORA a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application About Dora: Dora has a mild and stable temperament. She is well behaved: no excess barking, stays calm and sleeps overnight in her crate; she is also an excellent walking companion! Dora is very playful, children and adults alike, as well as other dogs and cats. She is very food motivated, loves chew toys; and enjoys keeping her humans company. Once she even comforted another dog while being treated in the hospital! She is an absolute sweetie you would not want to miss! About Dora’s rescue: In south eastern Taiwan, near the coastal region, where the villagers are very much into worshiping the local goddess, but most of them are short in the knowledge about animal welfare, let alone caring for them. Unfortunately, Dora and her nine siblings were born in this area. As the volunteers were overwhelmed with the number of strays to be cared for, rescuer’s help was sought. When Dora was taken over by the rescuer, she was only two months old. She was severely malnourished. But she’s also one of the luckier ones to be raised by a foster family. Millie, spayed female, 9-months-old, 31-lbs If you would like to give MILLIE a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Millie is smart and lively, enjoys outdoor activities; full of puppy energy, like the average young pups. She is loving by nature and aimed to please, can easily adapt to new environment. She is well behaved around adults and kids, also good with other dogs and cats. She follows direction well, and never got into fight for food or toy. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight. With some basic training, she will become a great family pet and the best walking companion. About Millie’s rescue: Millie was spotted wandering on the streets. A good looking, clean and young one, she was probably deserted by her owner not too long ago. She was at the onset of puberty, it is urgent to have this young girl neutered. When the rescuer was notified, she acted right away, lest she drifted away. Millie was taken to the vet first; no chip was found on her. She was examined by the vet, and got neutered. Millie is a beautiful and healthy young pup. She was placed with a loving foster home while waiting for her forever home! Minnie, spayed female, 9-months-old, 26-lbs If you would like to give MINNIE a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Meet Minnie! Being incredibly affectionate, Minnie can be calmly active and actively calm. While the playful Minnie makes her a great companion for outdoor adventures, the gentle Minnie melts your heart with the warmest interaction with people. One thing to note is that while Minnie loves playing with other dogs, she is not too keen on sharing her toys with them. Training and guidance are suggested for the adopter who is looking for a second (or more) family dog! About Minnie’s rescue: Minnie, at the age of one-month-old, was found in the wild in southern Taiwan along with her siblings. There was no sight of the mother dog nearby, this is apparently another case of abandoned puppies in the wild. When the three sisters were found, they were living in a densely overgrown land with no shelter and food, quietly enduring hunger as they waited for hope. Fortunately, under the loving care of our foster family, Minnie and her sisters have grown into three healthy and happy pups that are ready to enter their forever homes! Scarlett, spayed female, 10-months-old, 30-lbs If you would like to give Scarlett a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Scarlett is smart, lively, and close to people; full of puppy energy, but calm and obedient if compared to other young pups her age. She always greets everyone with a sweet smile and non-stop wagging tail. She is good with dogs and behaves very well when meeting other dogs outdoors; she is also calm and friendly with cats. Her favorite pastime is taking daily walks and romping around with doggie friends in the park. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight, with no barking nor chewing issues. Scarlett can fit into any type of family quickly, also can be a great candidate for family looking for sibling to the existing dog. She would make a wonderful companion, and she certainly deserves a loving family! About Scarlett’s rescue: Traveling on a country road the volunteer picked up a stray dog, skinny but heavy into pregnancy. She soon gave birth to five puppies, Scarlett was one of them. Being cute and good looking, Scarlett was soon adopted by a young couple. Even with all their good intention and love, the young couple realized not long afterwards that they did not have enough time to take good care of her; she was only taken for walk once every week on weekends, and when her masters are away on business trips, Scarlett had to stay at the boarding place. So, when the rescuer learned about this situation, she decided to look for better opportunities for Scarlett. She is submissive around her peers, never fight for food or toys. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight. Betty is also a quick learner, she would wait patiently for snack and sit calmly to be leashed, ready for a walk. Betty would make the best member for family looking for a companion pet. Please watch her videos to learn more about this adorable sweet girl! Betty’s rescue story: One day on her routine feeding route along the highway by an industrial park, the volunteer found a puppy fallen in a drainage ditch. During the rescue process, she found another seven pups, apparently, they are all deserted siblings. Food and water were scarce in this area and the highway was busy with heavy trucking traffic all the time. There would hardly be any chance for these young pups to survive if left on their own. Fortunately, the rescuer lent a helping hand, these pups were taking over by her, first cared for and socialized by foster families. Betty is one of the lucky pups that is ready for adoptions.
