Story
Kiki: 7 month old spayed female lab mix, about 26 lbs Kiki is just a total love bug her foster mom says. She is on the skinny side but getting plenty to eat now and will round out soon. Her foster family says Kiki is playful and full of energy and loves to cuddle. She gets along and plays well with other dogs. She appears to be house trained (no accidents in the house) and is crate trained. She has learned sit and we are working on stay and not jumping on people when excited. She is protective of her food around other dogs so she will need to be crated when fed if there are other dogs in the home. Kiki is just a such a sweet girl and such a puppy. She is ready for her forever family to show her the ropes!Application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdjb9UF3rx2UeLrL9RTe5WFL-OU6ZJCXIPLV2qhDP5e1GmPhA/viewform or visit 4Paws2Love.org

Story
Rosie is a lovable three-year-old lab and pit mix, adopted a year ago from Hickory Creek Animal Shelter. It breaks my heart to rehome her, but it’s what is best for Rosie. I am moving out of the country, and putting her on a flight in the cargo hold would cause her irreparable psychological trauma. Rosie is anxious, can get startled by loud sounds and does not like being outside without her humans during the day. She takes daily medication, and with her meds she is goofy, food motivated, a ball chasing fiend and is a cuddle bug. She loves water, is very athletic and very smart! Rosie loves her human, but is a little skeptical of men at first. She has been around children before with no issues but has never lived with kids. She has dog and cat brothers she gets along very well with. She is crate trained and knows basic commands. She does best with daily exercise of any kind. Rosie will truly be a wonderful best friend!

Story
Herbert is genuinely the kindest dog. He greets you every morning by trying to bury himself into you. He loves spending every moment he can with people or snuggled up next to another dog. He's a genuine sweetheart. He’s 2 years old, and weighs in at only about 45 lbs.  Best guesses are that Herbert’s a lab / husky mix… maybe with some cattle dog thrown in! If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt.  Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Hebert is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.May 1, 2024, 7:05 pm

Story
Macie is a happy pup with a big smile and kind heart. She has grown up with her family and has helped them welcome 3 babies in the world! She's been wonderful with all three kids (now ages 2.5 through 4.5). Macie isn't one for fetch, but she does love to play tug of war and go on moderate walks. Macie also likes being near her humans most of the time, and can usually be found on the floor around them. She also has a fur sister that she's lived with for 7 years. Unfortunately, her fur sister has some health problems and has grown intolerant of having Macie around. Therefore, Macie is seeking a new home where she can be loved for years to come. Story
Baxter was found abandoned near the Ennis American Legion post in late October. His foster took him into their home for protection from the two nights of freezing temperatures expected. They took him to a vet in hopes a microchip might reunite him with his family. Good news is he was chipped!  Bad news is, when the vet reached his previous family, they declined to claim him. But that means a new start for this sweet guy! His fosters had him thoroughly examined, ensured his vaccinations were updated, and started Baxter on Heartguard and Nextguard. He is very sweet, estimated at about 2 years old, 63 lbs, neutered, apparently house trained, very friendly and smart. After two weeks of slow integration, he and his 3 foster sibling dogs share backyard playtime and get along fabulously. In just two weeks he is learning to walk gently on leash; has already learned “sit”; and “stop/sit/stay” at intersections on his walkies. He loves people and wants to spend time with both his human friends and canine buddies. He’s an active dog, and due to his size small children might be overwhelmed; and to continue his training he probably needs an experienced dog owner. Story
These two are a bonded pair and must stay together. Max is 5 and Champ is 7. Champ was hit by a car and had a leg surgery that left him with a limp but that doesn't slow him down one bit. They were raised around kids.  When surrendered they had been kept as outside dogs their entire lives, but kept escaping. They have been inside dogs since October, and you'd never know any different. They get along and play very well with other dogs. They deserve to be the center of attention and will do best with a family who will work with them and train them. They know basic commands like sit and they come when called. Max and Champ are the happiest, loving boys who have never met a stranger. They deserve a family who will smother them with all the love they can handle, but who will also train them and break them of their attempts to escape. Story
Zoey is the type of dog that loves long naps in the sun and chewing bones in solitude. She can be quite shy, but once she's warmed up is a great companion. She's best suited for a home with no other animals or small children as she can have a bit of an attitude. She is very vocal about needing to use the bathroom and when she is hungry. She will absolutely refuse to potty inside no matter how long. Her shots were up to date as of 2022. Her main issue is that she does not like other dogs whatsoever (unless it's a puppy). She will be aggressive with them even within a ten foot radius of her. She can also be territorial with food and bones. She has some anxiety but spends her days laying about, usually on something soft. She only knows sit, and doesn't typically play with toys. Never shown much interest in it. We are earnestly seeking a new home for her as we are moving and will have to resort to a shelter if she isn't claimed. She just isn't a good fit for a home with a baby.
