Story
Meet RJ, a certified fuddy duddy. This sweet senior Shih Tzu mix weighs about 15 lbs, so he's the perfect size for snuggling and carrying around. His back legs don't work perfectly anymore and he's almost completely blind, but he doesn't let that stop him from charging around at full speed, seeking out smells that make him happy. His very favorite thing in the world is laying in a comfortable, familiar spot and letting the world go by. He's fully potty trained and hasn't had any accidents in his foster home. Although he does fine in a crate, he's past the stage of being interested in antics and can be trusted outside his crate. He gets along with other dogs unless they get in his face and he finds it necessary to stand his ground, but would also do well as an only dog. If you're looking for a sweet, low energy little guy with a very old man personality, RJ might be your perfect fit!You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about RJ on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet him today!!Adoption fee: $325All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. Story
Hi there! It’s so nice to meet you, I’m London - yes, like that city across the pond. 😉 I am a small female pup - about 8 pounds and around 5 months old. My humans say I look like I’m probably a Shih Tzu Mix. Just because I'm small in size doesn't mean I have a small personality! I am a big-hearted pup who loves belly rubs. Some may say that I can be a little bossy at times, but I say it's just good leadership skills. 😉😀 Speaking of skills, I'm working on getting the hang of all those puppy skills - right now, I am working on going to the bathroom ONLY outside, learning how to walk on a leash and resting in my crate. Let me tell you a little more about me! I get along well with kids and other dogs (I’m really not a fan of cats though). I’m currently staying in Raymond, WI with my foster family. They are great, but I am looking for my forever home! I just can’t wait to meet a family that I can adopt …I mean a family that will adopt me! 😊 I just know we’ll have SO much fun!If you think we’d be a good match, I’d love to meet you! Apply to adopt me using the link below. I am microchipped, up-to-date on all my age-appropriate shots and will be spayed before adoption. My adoption fee is $500. www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550

Story
Hi Biggie Paws Friends ! We’d like you to meet Mervin. Mervin is a two-year-old little guy – only about 20 lbs. At first glance you might think he resembles a Shih Tzu, but if you look really really closely, we think you’ll see what we see – YOUR SHADOW! That’s right, this little love bug is absolutely devoted to being his people’s trusted sidekick, loyal friend and dedicated companion. Do you enjoy having the bathroom door slowly creak open during your morning constitutional? 🚽 After a nice refreshing shower, 🛁 do you enjoy pulling open the shower curtain to the eager eyes of your most adoring fan? 😍 Do you need a lap warmer for those cold winter days? A comforting little pillow for your nap on the couch? Looking for someone to listen👂to all your stories? Laugh at your jokes? 🤣 Need a furball there to catch any of your tears? 😢 Wipe the sweat away on a hot afternoon? 🔥 Looking for someone who thinks you look absolutely fabulous 💅👡💄👗 in any outfit you choose – including pajamas? Do you want the crowd to go wild every time you walk in the door? 👏👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿 He’ll do his best – and by that we mean he’ll jump on all fours to celebrate your arrival!Look no further – Mervin is your guy! What are you waiting for? He’s waiting for you in Lake Geneva, WI. While he’s waiting, he’s been brushing up on all of his skills – he’s crate trained, making great progress on his leash skills, and goes potty outside – he just needs you to perfect a system for him to tell you when he has to go, but he is getting really close!Mervin loves kids 👧👶👦 and gets along well with other dogs. 🐾 He hasn’t met a cat that we know of yet, so unsure what he thinks of them. He loves to go on walks and is just so excited about all the smells that he sometimes zigzags to them and then back to you to tell you about the exciting things he smelled and make sure that you are having as much fun as he is. 💞Mervin is up to date on all of his age appropriate shots, 💉 will be microchipped and is already neutered. His adoption fee is $450. If you’d like to be reunited with your long-lost shadow, please apply today for consideration to adopt him! He promises it will be the best decision of your life (and so do we)!! 💗 www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550

Story
ROCKFORD IL - I can't believe Emma is still waiting for her forever home!! She's been waiting here ever since July! Poor little Emma lived in a nasty puppy mill in Missouri for 6 years where she was forced to have litter after litter until she no longer produced large litters. Since she was no longer profitable she was at risk to be destroyed. That's how puppy mills work. Remember that whenever you see puppies in a puppy store! Emma is now safe and ready to start living her best life. Emma is only 6 years old and weighs a svelte 11 pounds. She's been spayed and her teeth are pearly white from her dental. Emma is working hard learning to trust humans and she's come a long way. She's treat motivated which helps in training. She will come up and take a treat from your hand but prefers to scoot away with it and eat it in private. She's doing well with house training. She uses a pee pad and also uses the doggie door to go outside to do her business. If you would like to make Emma your very own you can put your application in at www.tinypawssmalldogrescue.org Adoption fee is $450

Story
About Me: Name: Rexie Breed (or best guess): Shih Tzu mix Approximate Age: 3 years Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 14 lb Adoption Fee: $400 ($450 - $50 sponsored) Requirements: another small dog, fenced yard, patient adopter Why In Rescue: puppy mill surrender Profile:   Rexie came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a very shy girl and will need time and patience to understand and enjoy human companionship.  She is happy when she is in her kennel run with another dog, but very unsure of human touch.  She does need to have another dog in her new home to make her comfortable.  A secure fence will be needed as well.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $450 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS July 26, 2024, 3:59 pm

About Me: Name: Kobe Breed (or best guess): Shih Tzu Approximate Age: 4 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 13 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Patient adopter Why In Rescue: owner surrender Profile:  Koby was surrendered with a number of other dogs when his owner lost their home.  Koby takes awhile to get to know new people, and is adjusting to life at the shelter.  He has another small female dog as his friend, he isn't super playful with the other dog, but seems to like the company of another dog.  He doesn't love getting groomed, especially his face, so he will need work with that (and a patient groomer).  He has been neutered and had his teeth cleaned as well as vet care updated.  He is a funny guy and will pounce towards you to play, and sometimes you will catch him chasing his tail, but mostly he is happy to lay in his bed and chill out.  He isn't use to walking on a leash so a fenced yard would be best.  If you think you may have just the right home for Koby, please fill out the pre-adoption application. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation.
