Meet Penny Penny is a purebred Shih Tzu who joined us in July after being found laying on a sidewalk in Chicago earlier in the summer during a heatwave. She was heatstroke and very dehydrated; a good Samaritan took her to the ER for immediate care. With fluids and support care, Penny recovered and was taken to Chicago Animal Control where she sat, until we took her into our Rescue. Penny is a sweet little pup, estimated to be 2-3 years old, and just 11 lbs. She has somewhat of a unique personality, for a young pup. She’s very mellow and is a bit of a loner. While fine with other dogs, she is not really interested in playing with them. That said, she may prefer to be an only dog but we do expect her to evolve into her true self, once she settles into her forever home with her forever family. Penny is fully vetted, heartworm negative and on year-round prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is reported to be housebroken as well.
