Melo, pronounced "Mellow," is a 3-year-old possible Shih Tzu-Maltese mix who joined us after his previous owner could no longer care for him so we are still getting to know him. True to his name, Mellow has a relaxed demeanor and quickly forms strong bonds with his new people. He’s very affectionate, enjoys car rides, loves playing with toys, and gets along well with other dogs his size once he gets to know them. Mellow is crate trained but prefers to sleep quietly in his favorite bed at night. He has a tendency to beg at the table and will need a bit of leash training. Regular grooming is essential to keep his coat clean and free of mats. If interested in Melo please complete an adoption application and stop by on Saturday to meet him. Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Meet Penny Penny is a purebred Shih Tzu who joined us in July after being found laying on a sidewalk in Chicago earlier in the summer during a heatwave. She was heatstroke and very dehydrated; a good Samaritan took her to the ER for immediate care. With fluids and support care, Penny recovered and was taken to Chicago Animal Control where she sat, until we took her into our Rescue. Penny is a sweet little pup, estimated to be 2-3 years old, and just 11 lbs. She has somewhat of a unique personality, for a young pup. She’s very mellow and is a bit of a loner. While fine with other dogs, she is not really interested in playing with them. That said, she may prefer to be an only dog but we do expect her to evolve into her true self, once she settles into her forever home with her forever family. Penny is fully vetted, heartworm negative and on year-round prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is reported to be housebroken as well.
