History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: As a transport driver for the OOTC 2025 rescue mission, I met many pups that were in need of our help. When this handsome guy caught my eye, I was certain he would be coming home with me until finding his forever home. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with this sweet boy, Sailor! Sailor is a typical Cattle Dog in many ways, (intelligent, clever, alert, energectic, loyal, curious, fun) but what surprised me the most was his calm demeanor and good behavior at home. His activity level is moderate to high, so he would thrive in a household that can incorporate daily walks, runs, or hikes into his routine. On our walks, Sailor does well on a leash with minimal pulling, especially when corrected. He's super friendly with other dogs and humans, this being the main reason for his need to pull. While he has a reasonable prey drive for squirrels, there are no major concerns. A fenced yard would be best, but not necessary. (He currently lives without one). Sailor hasn't interacted with cats but has adapted smoothly to living with my chihuahua mix and tri-pod. He learned quickly to respect their boundaries and to easily coexist with his two bossy foster sisters. He has been patient with my tri-pod and has taught her he can be trusted player. Sailor is fully potty trained, doesn't mark indoors, and is learning the comforts of his crate. Car rides have become his favorite activity knowing a pup cup is waiting for him at our favorite drive-thru. Sailor definitely has a soft side and loving heart. Although somewhat independent, he really enjoys snuggling up with both his humans and canines. At my office, he's known as the friendly pup who greets everyone behind the gate, seeking neck scratches, treats and their permission to leap over said gate! Cattle Dogs can often be nervous around quick moving children. He has spent a fair amount of time with young kids (3 &5) and has surprised me with how well he has done. On occasion, he displays his natural need to herd, but will responds to correction. This is something he will need to continue to work on, but I would not let it deter you from considering welcoming this A+ guy into your life. He's a wonderful adventurous companion with a lot of love to give!

Story
History: We recently welcomed a deserving litter of cattle dog pups who are SO beautiful and sweet in their own unique ways. They are officially ready to start accepting adoption interest and hope to each find their forever homes soon! A Note from the Foster: Hi I'm Colt! I'm a curious, fun loving little guy! All I want to do is play and check out all the new things. I'm learning how to walk on a leash. Sometimes I like to grab the leash in my mouth and pull my foster mom along. I'm trying to figure out if this could be a fun game of tug-o-war or not. Currently in potting training. My foster mom's dog is showing me how fun it is to go potty outside on walks, and that outside things are not snacks. I'm a smart little guy so I'm sure I'll catch on when I'm a little bit older. I sleep well in my kennel at night. I'd rather be hanging out with you so I might cry for about 15 minutes but then I go to sleep. I'm hoping you'll give me lots of exercise and mental stimulation since I'm a cattle dog, which is a high energy breed. If I don't get mental stimulation I might create my own fun. I'm known to steal a slipper or find some good tissue paper to shred. I'm sure I'd be a great running or hiking buddy someday! I would do well in a house with no young children. I don't understand their fast movements and it makes me scared. I don't know how to properly interact with them right now. My foster mom hopes you will love me and show me the good life! I'm incredibly cute and just want to be where ever you are!

History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own! A Note from the Foster: Meet Mandy! She is the absolute sweetest pup. Mandy is super smart, energetic, loves people, kids & other dogs. Mandy loves to play. She would do best in a house with energy and another dog to play with. She just learned how to "fetch"! Mandy would be a great agility or flyball dog. Mandy has a ton of energy, she is fast, and loves to jump. Mandy is 95% potty trained, sometimes just gets too excited and forgets to let me know she needs to go outside! We are working on ringing a bell to let me know she needs to go out. We have worked really hard on recall; Mandy will stop what she's doing and run to me when I call her name! We are currently working on leash training, heel, sit and touch. Mandy is in a crate when we are not home. Mandy is so eager to please! We have been bringing Mandy to outdoor festivals, outdoor patios at our fav restaurants and she does really well! Mandy just wants to join in ALL the fun and be part of the gang!

A Note from the Foster: This one-year-old sweetheart is the perfect mix of playful and snuggly. With his soulful eyes and soft white coat, Jax will steal your heart in seconds. He loves to play outside, chase toys, and explore. When it’s cuddle time, he melts right into you, resting his head and all his weight on your lap like the gentle, loving boy he is. Jax is great with other dogs, cats, and kids. He currently lives with children ages four, six, and seven and is very sweet and gentle with them. He’s doing wonderfully with potty training and continues to learn his name, especially when treats are involved. He’s also working on his kennel training and does best when he can see his people nearby. Healthy, affectionate, and full of life, Jax is ready to find his forever family. He’s a happy pup who will bring love, laughter, and loyalty to his new home. Whoever brings Jax home will gain a best friend for life. 🐾❤️

A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own! A Note from the Foster: Arthur has really made me only want to foster senior dogs! He is an 8 year old cattle dog mix that has gone through more than any animal should. His previous owner passed away and Arthur arrives from Texas looking for a second chance. For such a sad past, you would never know Arthur has gone through hard times. Arthur has fit into our home and life seamlessly. He is incredibly chill and relaxed when you want him to be, and ready for adventure and playtime whenever you are! He loves a good walk and fetch. He also likes to train and is very food motivated, so old dogs can definitely learn new tricks! He is still working on crate training (he barks when left alone right now) but will sleep on his bed the entire time I’m gone. He has lived with other dogs before and does well, but as he has a higher prey drive, I’m not sure about cats. He loves his people and will settle in pressed against you as soon as you sit down. Who is ready to give Arthur a second chance?

Story
History: Jackie is a stunning young cattle dog mix who was adopted and returned to rescue due to not being a fit for cats in the home. She loves other dogs and would thrive with another dog in the home to be play with. She is a loving girl who hopes to find her forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Hi, I'm Jackie! I'm a smart, incredibly sweet, very high energy girl looking for the perfect forever home. I was at Coco's previously and adopted, but I couldn't get along with the resident cat, so I'm back looking for a cat-free and small animal free home. I LOVE other dogs and would do great in a home where I have a playmate. I would also do well with children if they are a little older and can help remind me not to jump up on them. I still have a lot of puppy in me and am working on my manners. Jumping up and pulling on the leash while being walked are the things I am currently working on. I'm so smart and very gentle hearted (except to cats and squirrel's). With exercise and consistent training my foster mom is positive I'll the best dog. I'm already doing great with potty training, sleeping through the night in my crate and most commands (sit, wait, give). Once I've had enough exercise I love napping and a good snuggle on the couch. I'll curl right up with you and give you as much love as you want. What I need to be a good dog for you is a solid 2-3 mile walk in the morning, some fetch time and maybe second walk every day. Firm but gentle reminders not to jump up are helpful, but what I want most is your praise, belly rubs and love.

These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Sweetie lives up to her name. She is full of love and ready to find her forever home. She’s got a beautiful white coat and is working on finding the right ways to show her abundance of love and happiness. Sweetie thinks she’s a lap dog and loves to lounge on the futon or the couch while snuggling her person. At 20 months she still has some puppy energy in her and burns that off playing chase with the resident dog in the backyard. Sweetie gets along well with other dogs about her same size. She doesn’t quite understand personal space and that she’s a bit bigger. She would be good as an only dog or with a sidekick to show her the ropes. Sweetie might be a bit much with younger kids but good for older kids that are active and love to play outside. Sweetie does have limited vision however she has adapted well to her foster home without accommodation. She does fine getting around without assistance and does the stairs without issues. Sweetie is still working on learning to take walks on a leash. Her vision and lack of confidence comes out. A fenced yard would be great for Sweetie. Her foster mom says Sweetie loves to run laps around the leaf piles in the backyard and has become comfortable navigating the yard on her own. Sweetie really is a sweetheart trying to live her best life. She loves to give licks and nose boops. Sweetie loves to carry her toys around the house and an occasional shoe or 2 have been found in her bed.

Story
History and a Note from the Foster: Ichika was a breeder release rescued in July 2024. She arrived completely shut down. She wouldn’t move, look at us, eat, drink or even go potty for the first week. She has come such a long way since then. Ichika was adopted by a very nice couple in August 2024. She quickly bonded with the wife but became very fearful of her husband and ultimately returned to rescue. Ichika has been with us, family of four, while in rescue. She has bonded with myself and my 11-year-old son. For some reason, she does not care for my 15-year-old daughter and only tolerates my husband. We would all love to see her find her forever home she can be at ease with everyone. You’ll have to be extremely patient with her but once she trusts you, she is so sweet and so silly. She loves her walks and is perfect on her leash! I swear she looks back at me with a smile on her walks. She is getting braver around new dogs and humans. She also loves to zoom around the yard and chase the other dogs. She loves to lay in grass or on the steps to observe everything and take naps. A bigger fenced in yard would be best for Ichika. She likes her kennel and will often go there to rest. She keeps it clean. She is mostly potty trained, she does not give any queues when she needs to go. We try to go out with her to make sure she pees every couple of hours when she is not in her kennel and that seems to work well for her. She likes to hoard toys but is not aggressive about it. She will chew other items if left out or if she is unattended. Computer chargers, hats and mittens have been a couple of her favorite items. Ichika will do best in a quiet home with one other confident dog. One or two people with not too many visitors. She will need a fenced in yard and daily walks with resident dogs to help build her confidence. She will need time to decompress and your willingness to go very slow with her. She will let you know when she is ready. Coco’s Heart has a great process of how to work with timid dogs. It’s a slow process but is so rewarding once she trusts and bonds with you.
