She was a pregnant stray in Mississippi when a rescue took her in, and she also had heartworm. Once she made it to MN, her puppies went to their own foster homes and luckily, Gracie came to my home. She completed heartworm treatment and as of July ’25, she is officially heartworm free! After completing her heartworm treatment, Gracie was spayed and during the surgery, the Vet found a BB which was removed, but an x-ray showed she has four more BBs in her. Even though she’s had a tough life, she’s still the happiest and sweetest girl! She’s a Red Heeler, Basenji, and maybe a little bit of something else. She has the cutest howl, and her tail is Beagle-ish so she might have a little hound in her. She’s the perfect size at 44 lbs and she’s the perfect amount of active and cuddly. She LOVES to go for walks and car rides. She’s always up to go anywhere and everywhere. We go for a mile walk AM and PM and she spends most of the day outside chasing squirrels and anything else that dares to set foot in her territory. Once or twice a week we’ll go on a 3-5 mile hike and she loves being out in nature and sniffing everything. If it’s sunny and 50-85 degrees, she wants to be outside. Although she’s fast, squirrels still elude her, but she has caught a few bunnies, and even a few mice. She loves to run in the yard and she’s an explorer so she would do best with a fenced in yard. She loves to be around people and loves to get attention. She drapes herself over me in the morning to get her snuggle battery recharged and she likes to cozy up on the couch to end the night. If she’s inside during the day, she likes to look out the window, chew on bones, and nap. She is not a fan of the crate so she is free to roam the house when left alone and has never caused any trouble. She is not a fan of other dogs so she should be the only dog in the house, and she hasn’t met any cats, but with her love of chasing anything small and furry I think it would be best to go to a cat-free home. She does ok being near dogs if they ignore her and don’t get in her space, but if dogs look at her wrong or mouth off to her, she is not afraid to tell them what she thinks. She’s pretty quick to pick things up, and although she’s already well behaved, she would do amazing with training. She’s met people of all ages and does well with everyone. She does have the Cattle dog tendency to get mouthy or nippy when playing, especially when playing outside. Everyone who has met Gracie has fallen in love with her and tells her how pretty and well behaved she is. She’s active, but not too active. She’s cuddly and loves people but can also be independent. She’s sassy, but also the sweetest dog. She is a wonderful companion dog - loving and devoted to her people. She loves cuddling on the couch and will sleep with you. Rza is just a charmer with extremely soft fur and a cute smooshy face and beautiful deep brown eyes! Rza is generally a pretty calm dog most of the time - and like many of us in the winter time, is a little "fluffy" right now from too many treats. Rza is fully potty trained and lets you know when she needs to go out with a couple special barks. She loves eating grass in the summer and relaxing in the sun, taking breaks to roll in the fresh smelly lawn. On colder days, Rza loves laying on her bed in front of the heating vent in the winter and playing in the snow. he likes being brushed and loves lick mats. She loves tug of war and fetch for about 10-15 minutes at a time, then she takes her ball away and chews on it. She is food motivated except on walks or when she is a little nervous. But oh, does she love walks! Rza's foster is working on her barking when she sees another dog on walks. She is very clumsy and will accidentally knock children over - so no small kids would be best! Rza came from living outdoors in North Dakota where she was attacked several times by packs of dogs twice her size. Because of this, she is dog selective and would prefer to be the only pup in the home - she won't be a dog you can take to a dog park or a brewery. However, she can play with single dogs her size (40 lbs) who are used to a rougher play style, but occasionally will become overstimulated so play should be supervised at all times. There's the chance that she may be able to live with an older similar sized calmer dog. Rza does have resource guarding with toys and food, which is another reason why she might be happier as a solo dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Slash and his siblings found themselves stuck in a high kill shelter in West Texas as very young puppies. He is great with other dogs and people. Cats are unknown (but his siblings have all done well with dogt savvy cats). All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful. Slash is mostly potty trained. He has not had any accidents so far in his foster home so long as he is kept to a schedule. Slash does very well in a crate. His crate door is left open and he willingly goes in to take naps. He has not shown any separation anxiety. Slash knows sit and is still working on other commands. Slash walks very well on a leash. He will constantly look at you for guidance. He does not pull but every so often he will pause before following along. Slash has gotten along with every dog he has met so far of all sizes. He LOVES meeting and playing with dogs. He still has that puppy energy and will need to continue learning when other dogs are done playing. When Slash is the only dog, he is very shy and slow to warm up to people but when he is around other dogs he acts like a puppy and is full of love, energy and confidence. Slash will do very well in a home with a resident dog to show him the ropes. Slash will also do well in a home as the only dog but will need a patient and understanding human to slowly build his trust and confidence. They are great pups and are good with other dogs, cats and people. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful. McCartney has been coming out of his shell. He is timid with new people but opening up more each week at events to strangers and at home each day. He likes chin and booty scratches. He will snuggle with you in time and gives the gentlest tiniest kisses. He loves other dogs and would do well a home with another dog to show him the ropes, but it is not a requirement; added patience will be needed if he's an only pup. He plays perfectly with dogs as well as independently, often found throwing the toys in the air to entertain himself. He is the ultimate stuffy killer but it's oh so fun to watch him enjoy the moment. He walks beautifully on leash, knows sit, has a good recall, is gentle when taking treats and trys hard to figure out what you are asking of him with a treat in hand. He is good in his kennel while the foster is at work, he will also go chill in there as well when he needs a break all on his own. He's doing great on potty training with only a few accidents here and there. He pays no attention to the cats in the home. He does his best sleeping in a room with a human and is accustomed to sleeping on his dog bed, but will wander and be busy all night if allowed. Brock understands basic commands. We are working on maintaining these skills when in stimulating environments, which makes it much harder for him. Brock is a very busy mind and wound benefit from someone with skills or someone who is ready to take on training to help create a physically and mentally stimulating environment.
