I`m Auggie, a 6-year-old Australian cattle dog (red heeler) that came to Animal Ark recently when life with a family that included two adolescents became a little much for me. Here`s what the AKC says about my breed: ACDs have immense work drive and excel at controlling and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners. ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, tenacious, ever alert, and may be wary of strangers. If an ACD isn`t challenged, it easily becomes bored and may get into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with these versatile dogs in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep them mentally and physically fit. It has been an adjustment coming into a shelter after living with my family for six years, and staff here are just getting to know me. If a running partner with the work ethic of a herder sounds like an adventure you are ready for, submit an adoption application to be scheduled for a meet and greet.

I’m Buddy, a mixed-breed puppy with a whole lot of heart and a whole lot of potential. I came to Animal Ark after my former family realized they didn’t have enough time or space for a growing dog, but they made sure we knew how much they cared about me. Now I’m here, safe, loved, and ready for a fresh start. I was originally born on a farm, and my doggie parents were a fun blend of Blue Heeler, Australian Shepherd, and Mini Goldendoodle. My mom was about 15–20 pounds and my dad around 30, and I’m already 20 pounds myself—so I’m expected to grow into a medium-sized dog. My family described me as friendly, playful, and active… in other words, a classic energetic puppy who’s eager to explore the world. I haven’t lived with cats before, and with my herding DNA, I might be tempted to “organize” them a little too enthusiastically. I was cautious and reserved around other dogs at first, but I’m already making doggie friends here at the shelter. I’ve met older children and was happy, gentle, and playful with them. If your family is looking for a companion who will love you unconditionally, grow alongside you, and thrive with exercise and engagement, I’d be thrilled to meet you. Hazel is a sweet athletic young lady with a lot of love to give. Hazel was an abandoned dog in a remote rural area. She took up residence under the stairs of a dog loving Elder. The Elder asked if we could take the little dog into rescue as the pooch was homeless, pregnant and it was very cold. The Good Samaritan has stayed in touch with PUP, making regular inquiries about how she is getting along. Very well, thank you. Hazel is a beautiful girl who has been a devoted mommy and is now hoping for her own forever home. She is doing a great job meeting new people but needs a bit of time to warm up to a new dog. We had DNA testing done on one pup from her litter. Based on that testing we got Hazel’s DNA. She is Chihuahua, Siberian Husky, Australian Cattle dog, and German Shepherd. She weighs about 30# and is remarkably agile. If someone is looking for a dog to train in agility, Hazel might be your pooch. Check out the video linked at the end of the bio. If given the option she would love to share the bed with her person. She appropriately alerts to 'stranger danger'. One night she unexpectedly started barking. Morning revealed the foster's truck had been invaded/gone through. Hazel has been vet checked, is vaccinated spayed, and de-wormed. When she was spapyed we found a buckshot pellet suggesting a story we will never hear but can imagine. Hi! I'm Ozzie... and I think you're looking for me. I'm about six months old, I'm a Blue Heeler puppy, and I've been told I'm the laid-back one in the family. Don't get me wrong—I still love to play, explore, and have puppy fun, but compared to my brother Morty, I'm a little more of the "let's see how this goes" kind of guy.
