Story
Maynard is an almost 4-year-old Australian Cattle Dog who just loves everyone. Weighing about 50 pounds, he’s wonderfully social and genuinely loves meeting new people, greeting strangers like old friends who just haven’t gotten enough hugs yet.He immediately settled into his foster home upon arrival, making himself comfortable and adapting to a new routine beautifully. Maynard is fully house-trained and will happily let you know when he needs to go potty. He is smart and curious and wants to be a part of whatever his humans are doing, so would prefer a family that could be home with him more frequently than not. However, he will settle well on his own if he needs to and a long lasting chew or frozen treat, coupled with a few of his favorite toys and he settles just fine. He will thrive with an owner/family who can give him the affection and closeness he craves. He is a world class kisser and never misses an opportunity to let you know that he loves you. In the evenings, he will happily settle on the couch with you for cuddles and tummy rubs while you watch your favorite programs on TV.Maynard LOVES his walks more than just about anything, and two short walks a day are all he needs to stay happy. He is good on a leash and enjoys a leisurely pace so can stop and sniff the world as he pleases. He also has a hilarious independent streak and can fully entertain himself with strong chew toys, rolling on the couch, and playing solo games of catch. Balls and squeaky toys are his favorite to play with. With other dogs, Maynard is curious and social. If he spots a dog across the street, he may pause and bark, but he’s friendly and interested rather than reactive. He does not have experience with cats so a proper introduction would be needed. He has done well around older children (teens and upward) but may be a bit too excited around small children and accidentally knock them over.Maynard is such an easy-to-love dog and would love being part of a family. Story
Meet Tatiana! 🌟This stunning 2-year-old, 40-pound Carolina Dog/Cattle Dog mix is ready to start a new chapter—and she’s hoping it’s with you! With her graceful frame and regal features, we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a little Pharaoh Hound in her lineage too. (We’d love if her future family did a DNA test and shared the results!) Tatiana was rescued just in time with her puppies when their time was up at the shelter. She was a devoted mama, and now that her pups are weaned and thriving, it’s finally her turn to be doted on. She’s gentle, loving, and friendly with everyone she meets—dogs and humans alike! Tatiana loves playing and romping with her doggy friends but also has a calm, sweet side that makes her the perfect companion. Ready to give a deserving mama the happily-ever-after she’s earned? Tatiana can’t wait to meet you.

Meet Roxanne! This sweet cattle dog mix is such a cuddle bug! At just four months old, she is already keeping her indoor area clean and goes outside to potty. Roxanne does well with other dogs and cats and loves attention. At this time, she is not a fan of being crated but does well outside of her crate. Roxanne’s current foster says she is absolutely precious and she could just hold her all day long. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Story
Ever wonder if it is even possible for show stopping beauty, an amazing brain, AND a five-star winning personality to come in the same package?! Lucky for you — they do for this sweet girl! Juniper is a treasure of a dog, waiting for her forever home. Just look at those beautiful, bright amber eyes and freckled nose. Juniper is a gorgeous girl and a perfect medium size. She always upbeat and carries a smile on her face. Besides her looks, Juniper is also a very smart, trainable girl. The sky is the limit for her. She’s eager to learn. She’s also pretty athletic so she would be a great running companion. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to try dog sports like agility. Juniper would be perfect! And best of all, Juniper has a very sweet disposition with every person she meets. She craves attention from her people and will be a loyal companion for years to come! She would be perfectly content being an only dog or possibly one other canine companion that suits her fancy. She's doggy selective, and would need a little time to warm up to a new BFF once they know she's in charge of the playtime antics. Juniper is a year or two old, 40-45 lb.

Story
My name is Josie. I am a six month old cattle dog mix. I have enjoyed playing with every dog that I have met so far and it sure takes a lot to tire me out! I love to run and play and chase balls. I also like to play in the water and the kiddie pool. I’m still learning a lot of my manners, but they say I’m very smart and a quick learner. My foster home has a fenced in yard so I know where my boundaries are. I need lots of room to run and play. I do like toys, especially the puzzle kinds that keep me busy! I know lots of commands like sit and shake. I do like go to my kennel most of the time, but when it’s time to get up in the morning, I am ready to go. I would be too best with someone who has experience with cattle dogs, because I have a lot of energy. I am happy and wild and love attention and I need a job and some direction to keep me out of trouble! If you think that I would be a good fit for you and your family, you should email my foster mom directly! Dogfoster08@yahoo.com

Story
Rusty, Sweet neutered male, is a bit shy at first but warms up to people quickly. Rusty plays well with other dogs and is curious about cats. He lives in a home with five cats, 2 dogs and a 7 year old. He loves playing fetch with the ball and is working on bringing it back and dropping the ball. Rusty does well in his kennel at night, and when no one is home. He uses a dog door and is house trained. Rusty likes to go on walks however it is best to go early in the morning or late in the day when there is not a lot of traffic or people. He gets scared by the cars. And since we have no idea what kind f life he had before he was saved by the rescue, it is just something he needs practice and confidence building ;) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Story
BALSAM AND HIS BESTIES WILL BE AT A MEET AND GREET /ADOPTION EVENT ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 25 FROM 12:30 -2:30 AT PET EVOLUTION AT 1074 GRAND, ST. PAUL. COUNT ON PUPPY CUDDELS TO WARM YOUR HEART ON A VERY COLD DAY. BALSAM is a real cuddle bug, climbing on his foster's lap any chance he gets earning him the position of foster-favorite. He is super playful and would be a great match for another playful dog of any size. He also can entertain himself. Check out the videos! Balsam and his siblings were surrendered to PUP because the owner, who lived in a remote area, could not afford the pups and felt she could not find suitable adopters. They said pups were born 9-27-25. The mommy dog is a much loved 30# ‘low rider’ with short legs (pictured). A partner organization agreed to pay for her to be spayed if PUP found homes for the puppies. The owner did a good job of socializing the pups and they arrived in good health. They are well socialized, playful and are enjoying the good life. Balsam looks like he is going to be a lankier than his mommy and we expect he will be in the in the lower end of large breed when he is full grown. We did DNA testing on one little boy from the litter. We suspect there might be 2 daddies in this litter. We did DNA testing on one little boy from the litter and we suspect he had a different daddy from Balsam but this should be at least half right. There were 20 identifiable breeds. Only 3 were in double digits, Australian Cattle Dog 20%, Boxer, 12% and German Shepherd 11%. Under 10% were: husky 7 %, Lab 6% and the rest are under 5%: Border Collie, Chihuahua, Australian Shepherd, Akita, Shih Tzu, Sheltie, Miniature American Shepherd, Malamute, Miniature Pinscher, Miniature Schnauzer, Peruvian Inca Orchid, and Rottweiler, Malamute, Chow Chow, Pit Bull, Cocker Spaniel. When someone asks you what breed, depending on your mood you could say Shih Tzu or Akita or any of the above. The real breed here seems to be cuddles. Balsam seems to laugh at the cold. He happily goes out to play with the other dogs and when they come in he seems disappointed and sometimes spends a bit more time playing by himself before asking to come in. He is doing a very good job of learning house breaking. He is crated for several hours during the work day and over night and keeps his crate clean. He is not fully house broken but he is making good headway. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, (he weighed 10# on 12-1 and is the largest of the litter) is vaccinated and de-wormed. He will need one additional puppy vaccination plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. https://youtube.com/watch?v=it3wlyOkL_M https://youtube.com/shorts/n_8LJfzIcgw https://youtube.com/shorts/gGMZYI9jHuU Professional photographs by Clara Metivier https://youtube.com/shorts/n_8LJfzIcgw https://youtube.com/shorts/gGMZYI9jHuU
