WOULD YOU CONSIDER FOSTERING HAZEL? IF YES, GIVE US A CALL: 651-645-4370. Hazel is a sweet athletic young lady with a lot of love to give. Hazel was an abandoned dog in a remote rural area. She took up residence under the stairs of a dog loving Elder. The Elder asked if we could take the little dog into rescue as the pooch was homeless, pregnant and it was very cold. The Good Samaritan has stayed in touch with PUP, making regular inquiries about how she is getting along. Very well, thank you. Hazel is a beautiful girl who has been a devoted mommy but is ready to pass on the responsibility to someone else. Hazel does well with children but is not comfortable with tall/large men. She is good with the resident dog but has not been good with other dogs she has met so we recommend she be an only dog. We had DNA testing done on one pup from the litter. Based on that testing we got Hazel’s DNA. She is Chihuahua, Siberian Husky, Australian Cattle dog, and German Shepherd. She weighs about 30# and is remarkably agile. If someone is looking for a dog to train in agility, Hazel might be your pooch. Check out the video linked at the end of the bio. The area where she came from had many loose and stray dogs so she was accustomed to that environment, but her Good Samaritan said she acted fearful there. In her Saint Paul home she has gotten along well with the resident dog, but is slow to meet new dogs. She is careful meeting new people and it takes her a few minutes to warm up. Before her pups were born Hazel appeared to be fully house broken. After the pups arrived things broke down a bit for her and her adopter will need to work with her, likely using a crate when she is left unattended for a long period of time. She can pull on walks and a no pull harness would be desirable. Rabbits beware. We suspect she will deal with any mice you might have in your home or yard too. Hazel has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. We do place dogs outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. PUP will pay for Hazel’s spay if it is done at a PUP clinic. It should be done about a month after she has stopped nursing. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a dog, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a dog. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. Hazel can be seen and adopted now but leave when her pups are adopted. She is 4yo and 2nd breed is Siberian Husky. My family’s living situation has changed. We have many teenage boys and new faces coming & going, and it is stressful for Elsie as she’s fearful of men at first. We have tried working with a trainer. This decision was not easy, but I hope it is the right choice for both of us. Elsie's ideal home has other dogs because she loves to play & snuggle. She can also adjust to living with cats over time, as she now has a cat friend. She is wary of men, but with time and proper introductions, she will warm up to them. She needs a confident & patient human and stability. She is very smart, food motivated, loves to be by your side. She is very alert to her surroundings and can act like a guard dog but it’s just in her temperament. She is fine in a kennel and needs to eat in a kennel or alone. She’s a beautiful, smart, loving girl and deserves the best. I will keep her until she finds home. I will donate the adoption fee to Carver Scott Humane Society.

Hunter is a 4 year old Blue Heeler mix.. I adopted him from Texas May 2025 He had been in a shelter 3 years and had some problems adjusting with me but is a wonderful dog once he got to know me I am 84 years old and live in an apartment not ideal for a Heeler mix. I fell in love with him using my heart instead of my head. I walk Hunter 3-4 times a day, which he loves, but isnt able to run which he needs to do. I feel I am depriving him of that. Periodically he will run in the apartment leading me to feel he needs more size. He has bitten twice, one to my grandson and son which drew blood but has not done that for long time. He may show an independent attitude but it doesn't last very long. I dont think he had a good social life since a puppy but i have given him a lot of love which he accepts. It would be great to be able to run like his breed shows. I love him dearly and will be hard to give him up. He will be a great dog for someone.

Rusty, Sweet neutered male, is a bit shy at first but warms up to people quickly. Rusty plays well with other dogs and is curious about cats. He lives in a home with five cats, 2 dogs and a 7 year old. He loves playing fetch with the ball and is working on bringing it back and dropping the ball. Rusty does well in his kennel at night, and when no one is home. He uses a dog door and is house trained. Rusty likes to go on walks however it is best to go early in the morning or late in the day when there is not a lot of traffic or people. He gets scared by the cars.
