Story
Buggy is pure love and joy with all the energy that comes with that. Eager to please and ready to play Buggy loves walks, running in the yard, and hanging out at the dog park. She’s fairly responsive with basic commands but still has a little puppy energy that distracts her at times. House trained, no counter surfing, past the ‘I chew the things you love’ phase. Crate trained. Buggy will do best in a lively home. She needs about an hour and a half of exercise a day. A morning walk/run, a yard to play in, a trip to the dog park or other young dogs to play with. She’s good with our cat and our older dog (9yr) though the older dog gets tired out and crabby with her. She’s had lots of fun with our young adult kids and has been great with elementary age kids. Zero biting, not really a barker, no aggressive or worrisome behavior. We’ve had changes in work and family and can no longer give her the home she needs. Sweetest dog we’ve ever had and we want the best for her.

Story
Hazel is a sweet athletic young lady with a lot of love to give. Hazel was an abandoned dog in a remote rural area. She took up residence under the stairs of a dog loving Elder. The Elder asked if we could take the little dog into rescue as the pooch was homeless, pregnant and it was very cold. The Good Samaritan has stayed in touch with PUP, making regular inquiries about how she is getting along. Very well, thank you. Hazel is a beautiful girl who has been a devoted mommy but is ready to pass on the responsibility to someone else. We had DNA testing done on one pup from the litter. Based on that testing we got Hazel’s DNA. She is Chihuahua, Siberian Husky, Australian Cattle dog, and German Shepherd. She weighs about 30# and is remarkably agile. If someone is looking for a dog to train in agility, Hazel might be your pooch. Check out the video linked at the end of the bio. The area where she came from had many loose and stray dogs so she was accustomed to that environment, but her Good Samaritan said she acted fearful there. In her Saint Paul home she has gotten along well with the resident dog, but is slow to meet new dogs. We suspect she would be happiest in a one dog family. She is careful meeting new people and it takes her a few minutes to warm up. Before her pups were born Hazel appeared to be fully house broken. After the pups arrived things broke down a bit for her and her adopter will need to work with her, likely using a crate when she is left unattended for a long period of time. She can pull on walks and a no pull harness would be desirable. Rabbits beware. We suspect she will deal with any mice you might have in your home or yard too. The pregnancy did a real number on Hazel's coat and it thinned out significatly, but is now coming back in. She looks just fine, but we are all glad it is summer coming, not winter. Hazel has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. We do place dogs outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. PUP will pay for Hazel’s spay if it is done at a PUP clinic. It should be done about a month after she has stopped nursing. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a dog, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a dog. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. Hazel can be seen and adopted now but leave when her pups are adopted. Story
Ever wonder if it is even possible for show stopping beauty, an amazing brain, AND a five-star winning personality to come in the same package?! Lucky for you — they do for this sweet girl! Juniper is a treasure of a dog, waiting for her forever home. Just look at those beautiful, bright amber eyes and freckled nose. Juniper is a gorgeous girl and a perfect medium size. She always upbeat and carries a smile on her face. Besides her looks, Juniper is also a very smart, trainable girl. The sky is the limit for her. She’s eager to learn. She’s also pretty athletic so she would be a great running companion. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to try dog sports like agility. Juniper would be perfect! And best of all, Juniper has a very sweet disposition with every person she meets. She craves attention from her people and will be a loyal companion for years to come! She would be perfectly content being an only dog or possibly one other canine companion that suits her fancy. She's doggy selective, and would need a little time to warm up to a new BFF once they know she's in charge of the playtime antics. Juniper is a year or two old, 40-45 lb.

Story
Meet Roxanne! This sweet cattle dog mix is such a cuddle bug! At just four months old, she is already keeping her indoor area clean and goes outside to potty. Roxanne does well with other dogs and cats and loves attention. At this time, she is not a fan of being crated but does well outside of her crate. Roxanne’s current foster says she is absolutely precious and she could just hold her all day long. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. Story
Lucy (the blue healer) was found in the walmart parking lot about 2 1/2 years ago. She is good with the other dogs. She's great with my 16 month old grandson and the neighborhood kids. Lucy is house trained and walks very well on the leash. We have never had her in a crate. She is fixed and we believe she has a vision problem with her left eye. She always turns to the right. She is very loving and loves to cuddle.
