Story
Milo is a beautiful 42 lb border collie mix. Typical for a herding type dog, Milo has a lot of energy and is very intelligent. His foster family describes him as very sweet, goofy, active, and energetic. Milo loves to play games of all kinds, and especially loves playing fetch. Milo is crate trained, house trained, and walks well on leash. He is friendly with other dogs. He has not been cat tested. With his foster family, Milo does well with 2-4 hours of exercise daily. Typical for his breed type, Milo has shown some herding behaviors and can sometimes be protective of his space, his people, and his things. For these reasons, Milo would do best in a home without small children. Milo needs a family that can provide him with plenty of daily mental and physical stimulation. Herding breed experience or experience with other high drive dogs is strongly encouraged.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:4Cassio – Wiggly, Affectionate, and Full of Charm Cassio is a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing 41 pounds with a delightful waggy personality and a big love for human attention. Enthusiastic walking buddy: Cassio may pull excitedly at the start of walks, but is easy to handle due his manageable size. Extra affectionate: It doesn’t take long for Cassio to hop up with his front paws on your legs, gazing up for attention and possibly sneaking in a quick face lick. He also loves leaning against people or stretching out across a lap for butt scratches. Playful and easygoing: Cassio can happily entertain himself with a plush toy and enjoys gentle play with other dogs in doggie playgroup. Social sweetheart: His waggy, people-loving personality shines through in nearly every interaction, making him a fun and affectionate companion. Cassio would do best with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with dog friends outside the home. July 21, 2026, 9:38 am

Since Obsidian has been at The Milo Foundation Sanctuary he has been able to learn some manners. He still shows sighs of being shy and nervous around strangers, but once he knows he can trust you Obsidian is a sweet loving boy. He does need to learn more manners along with some structure. Obsidian needs someone who will have time to spend with him and teach him. He would so best in a home with no children. Please call us at 707-459-4900 if you would like to know more or set up an appointment to meet Obsidian.

Story
Frida would do best in a home with low activity. She loves her adventures outside.. going on walks and hikes, but while in her home Frida would like it to be peaceful and low energy. She would do best with another dog in the home and no with no small children or small animals. Frida is a sweetheart, but she scares easily. A more mellow home with less traffic would help her feel safer. If you have any questions or if you would like to set up an appointment to meet Frida please call 707-459-4900.

Story
Meet Winter! This delightful girl would love a savvy home that can help her build confidence with new people and experiences. She's cautious initially but warms up and melts into a puddle of love once she realizes she's safe. Winter recently landed a fabulous foster home where she's getting the chance to decompress and take things at her own pace. Right now, she's not showing her high energy side, but given her herding breed mix, we expect that she'll become a high energy pup who will love hiking and off-leash activities, and will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation to be happy and healthy. She's super social with other dogs, and is always happy to greet others when out and about. She's a smart pup, who's affectionate and cuddly and would love a home where she can learn new tricks! If you're interested in meeting Winter, apply today to learn more and set up a meet & greet!
