Story
Milo is a beautiful 42 lb border collie mix. Typical for a herding type dog, Milo has a lot of energy and is very intelligent. His foster family describes him as very sweet, goofy, active, and energetic. Milo loves to play games of all kinds, and especially loves playing fetch. Milo is crate trained, house trained, and walks well on leash. He is friendly with other dogs. He has not been cat tested. With his foster family, Milo does well with 2-4 hours of exercise daily. Typical for his breed type, Milo has shown some herding behaviors and can sometimes be protective of his space, his people, and his things. For these reasons, Milo would do best in a home without small children. Milo needs a family that can provide him with plenty of daily mental and physical stimulation. Herding breed experience or experience with other high drive dogs is strongly encouraged.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:4Cassio – Wiggly, Affectionate, and Full of Charm Cassio is a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing 41 pounds with a delightful waggy personality and a big love for human attention. Enthusiastic walking buddy: Cassio may pull excitedly at the start of walks, but is easy to handle due his manageable size. Extra affectionate: It doesn’t take long for Cassio to hop up with his front paws on your legs, gazing up for attention and possibly sneaking in a quick face lick. He also loves leaning against people or stretching out across a lap for butt scratches. Playful and easygoing: Cassio can happily entertain himself with a plush toy and enjoys gentle play with other dogs in doggie playgroup. Social sweetheart: His waggy, people-loving personality shines through in nearly every interaction, making him a fun and affectionate companion. Cassio would do best with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with dog friends outside the home. July 24, 2026, 1:29 pm

Story
Like most Border Collies, Confetti Sunset is innately wise and instinctively helpful. Her beauty is unparalleled and her emotional intelligence is worthy of scientific study. Kind, gentle, quietly attentive, she’s lays her freckled snout on a knee like a warm compress, receiving and giving comfort without a lot of fanfare. She’s a strong capable friend to other dogs and polite with all humans. A proud working dog, she also stands ready to be a loyal companion and playmate to a loving and reliable adopter. Adopt her for a lifelong master class in peace, love and understanding. Here's some notes from her foster: Confetti is totally chill. She wants to be with her human all the time, but that can be lying on her doggie bed next to me while I work. She does try to get outside anytime a door is opened, but the one time she did get out, she just stood there. She likes leisurely walks. Given her medical condition, I am taking her for multiple short (1/4 mile or so) walks per day. She is also very much into smelling everything outside. A 1/4 mile walk can take 20 minutes or more.

Story
Rocco is a 9 years old healthy, happy and strong dog. He's 55 lbs mixed breed, very fit, all vaccines up to date. We adopted him in 2017 from a shelter in Santa Cruz when he was a puppy. We are now looking for a person or family willing to adopt him. He's very friendly with people, not with other dogs, so he should be the only pet in the house. The ideal adopter should be someone who has already experience owning other dogs before. Rocco can stay at home alone the whole day, or in the car waiting for you doing grocery without any issue. He follows a few basic cues/prompts; he loves to travel by car; VERY food motivated, he loves cuddles, fetching balls and playing tug of war. He gets very affectionate with the owner and the whole family. We are not asking for money, we'd like to find the right fit for him.Let us know if you are interested.

Story
• Working dog brain and the most handsome boy• Loves to be active• Seeks affectionBrady is a two-year-old handsome boy with a working dog brain, soulful eyes, and a whole lot of heart waiting to be unlocked by the right person. He comes with a little stranger danger and anxiety, he`s a dog who takes his time, reads the room, and decides on his own terms when he`s ready to let you in. But when he does? The staff here will tell you: underneath that cautious exterior is one of the sweetest, most gentle boys around. He already has a fan club among the people who know him best, and it keeps growing.Brady is highly trainable and eager to please. He picks things up quickly and thrives with consistency, patience, and daily training that gives his busy mind something to chew on. Open space, puzzle toys, and ideally a job to do would make a world of difference for him, he was built to work and bond. He`s best suited for an experienced dog owner who understands that the dogs who ask the most of you tend to give back the most too. Brady is one of those dogs. He just needs the right person to believe in him.If you`re patient, active, and ready for a loyal companion who will grow into something truly special - Brady is waiting.Ready to meet this sweet guy? He’s waiting to win your heart!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Snoot-Yowie's name was picked out for her before she came to us. Our 4 year old created the name and when we went to the shelter my daughter passed up several other dogs in search for the one she had been dreaming about, Snoot-Yowie. Snoot is now roughly a year and a half old. She has always been an energetic pup. She loves to chase other dogs and be chased. She loves being cuddled by members of our family or those she knows well enough to trust. Her happy place is the dog park or an open space that she can chase a ball. Snoot is anxious and reactive, making a house with unfamiliar small children and lots of adventuring into the community encountering strangers a bit too much for her to handle. She would probably benefit from a home that has another dog or two that she can run with as part of their pack. Snoot is a sweet, loving protector who believes she is a lap dog.

• Big fan of tug of war• Loves to splash in the water• Never met a treat she didn`t likeShellsea is a dazzling 3-year-old with a coat so stunning, you`ll be lost in her beautiful spots. She’s an excitable queen, full of personality and ready to shine. This girl knows what she wants! She`s a total lovebug who thrives with a good walk, and if tug-of-war were an Olympic sport, she`d be bringing home the gold every time.Shellsea would blossom with a family ready to provide consistent, patient guidance, helping her channel all that wonderful energy. She`s also quite good at redirecting her attention when other dogs are around, staying focused and relatively non-reactive. We absolutely adore Shellsea`s vibrant spirit around here, and we know you will too!
