Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! She’d probably be happiest with 2, 20-30 min walks or just an hour of fetch. She gets so excited for walks she tends to pull and we’re still working on our off leash, recall! She knows “sit, stay, leave it, excuse me, back up, down, up, let’s walk” and “turn around.” She’s looking for an owner that will keep her active and let her snuggle up on the bed. About Luke Luke is a very loving, almost 4-year-old dog. I adopted him when he was 12 weeks old from a rescue that saved his mom and litter. He has been a wonderful part of our family ever since. Luke has lots of love and energy and would thrive with a family or individual who has the time to play with him and give him attention. He would do best in a home with a yard where he can run around and burn off his energy. He gets along great with both big and small dogs and has been wonderful with my one-year-old child, though like many energetic dogs he doesn’t always realize how big he is. Luke is house trained and crate trained, and his crate is his safe space. He loves attention, cuddles, and being around people. He has no medical issues. He does have a slightly sensitive stomach, so he does best on a low-fat gastrointestinal dog food that keeps his tummy happy. We are looking for a very loving and well-suited home where Luke will get the time, attention, and activity he deserves
