Story
Bart and Lisa are a bonded pair of cuties who came in as strays with no trace of a family looking for them.  So far they are just awesome!  They totally love each other, both have calm energy and are a little shy but soak up any affection.  They are a package deal and 2 is better than 1 anyway! All Perth Amboy Animal Shelter residents will be fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.  You must be 23 or older to adopt from the shelter, complete an Adoption Application and pay the associated adoption fee.  The application must be approved by the shelter staff and all adoptions are finalized based on the best interests of our animals.  Come visit us Monday - Friday between 10am and 4pm and Saturday/Sunday from 10am - 3pm.  Contact us at (732) 324-3877 and don't forget to ask about our Foster Program!October 6, 2024, 7:32 am

Story
Between October 1st and 15th my adoption fee is sponsored! Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters campaign, my new family can take me home for only $25! Please apply online to start the adoption process-- I can't wait to meet you! Are you looking for a playful, energetic, gentle and loving companion? Look no further! Knox is a 1.5 year old mixed breed weighing in around 50 lbs. Knox loves to play and is always ready for a game of fetch or tug of war. He loves exploring the great outdoors with his humans by his side, followed by a cozy cuddle on the couch to relax at the end of the day. He's a shining star when it comes to leash manners making strolls through the neighborhood a pleasure. He's a quick learner and is incredibly adaptable and confident despite his hearing loss. He knows several hand signal commands including sit, stay, come, crate, shake a paw, down, etc. He came from a home where he was spending long hours in a crate with medication. He's now working towards crate training without meds and is building his comfort level and amount of time he's able to spend in the crate at a time. Knox would thrive in a home where he can have a fenced backyard to run and play, as well as someone who is home regularly to help him continue to work on crate training. He loves kids and would do well with older kids that would be less likely to startle him from behind. He likes playing with other dogs, though may be best in a home where he is able to get your undivided love and attention. In return he promises to be a devoted and affectionate companion who will bring endless joy to your life. Knox is currently being fostered in Jackson, NJ. His adoption fee is $425. To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Snickers! Snickers is a 4 month old border collie/lab mix female pup. This animal is coming up on a transport to the NYC Area Saturday, October 25th and is looking for a foster home to go into. There are multiple shelters down south that are overcrowded and Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue partners with these shelters to move the animals into foster homes in the North East before they are adopted into their forever family homes. What does it mean to be a foster? The first, and most important, responsibility is to provide a caring and safe home environment. There are some very specific guidelines that we will share with you that will keep everyone safe and healthy. From basic food and water, quarantine periods, and where you can or cannot take your foster, our Foster Handbook and Foster Mentors are fantastic resources. Depending on what type of animal you're fostering, you'll need some things in advance. These items may include a crate, puppy pads, or food and water bowls but we have a large foster network that helps share supplies! Louie's Legacy will pay for full vetting, spay or neuter surgery, and all approved medical or behavioral treatments. By fostering a dog or cat...YOU are MAKING a DIFFERENCE! Every pet deserves saving! Let's not leave any behind! Apply to foster today! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/LOUE/Dog *Please note that the pet you are interested in may not be available by the time we receive your application. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible and to be open to helping other animals in need.
