Story
Location: Woodbury, MN Meet Shadow 🖤 (Professional Observer. Selective Snuggler. Equal-Opportunity Cuddler.) Shadow is the kind of dog who watches the room before entering it. He’s thoughtful, intelligent, and takes his job as “emotional barometer” very seriously. Once he decides you’re safe, he’ll reward you with quiet companionship, soulful looks, and the occasional dramatic sigh. He’s affectionate—but in a low-key, meaningful way. Shadow isn’t here to sit on your face or steal your snacks. He prefers leaning against you, settling nearby, and choosing closeness rather than demanding attention. Once comfortable, he happily shares his affection with the people he trusts — including curling up for a snuggle when the mood is right. Shadow is kennel trained, house-trained, and highly tuned in to his surroundings. He thrives with predictability, clear boundaries, and humans who speak fluent Dog Body Language™. Because he’s sensitive and perceptive, he does best with older kids or teens, and with younger kids only if introductions are slow and respectful. Energy-wise, Shadow is solidly medium. He enjoys walks, toys, and short play sessions—but he’s equally talented at napping. He walks nicely on leash, appreciates calm “sniff and stroll” walks, and does not require a fenced yard. Bonus fun fact: his recall is quite good when expectations are clear (he likes rules—don’t tell the other dogs). Shadow can live in a multi-dog household, especially with calm, socially appropriate dogs and humans who manage shared resources like food, chews, and prime nap spots. With the right setup, he’s capable of peaceful co-existence and selective play—but he’s not into chaos, drama, or free-for-alls. Shadow bonds deeply but not possessively. He’s not a one-person-only dog — once he feels safe, he’s happy to snuggle with trusted humans and settle in wherever the vibes are calm. If you’re looking for a smart, soulful dog who will quietly choose you (and then maybe your partner too), Shadow might just be the perfect addition to your home. --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Location: St Paul, MN Meet Juno! She has the cutest "masked" face and behind that mask is a beautiful girl with the sweetest temperament. She is eager to please and very affectionate. She's got the perfect amount of puppy energy combined with superb cuddling skills. Juno is housetrained and is quickly learning new commands like "sit" and "down". She gets along well with her resident dogs and loves toys. Hi! My name is Henry Waternoose, and I am from Arkansas! From his foster: Puppies don’t get much better than Henry Waternoose. He’s well behaved, easy going, and gentle. He sleeps through the night, happily greets strangers, and is highly food motivated which makes training easier. Need a buddy for the kids? Henry thinks tiny humans are great! Have a dog already? Henry loves to play! Although his name is from Monster’s Inc, his mission is not to collect screams but rather lots and lots of snuggles. Henry doesn’t like to snuggle up next to you. Henry likes to snuggle on you. If you think Henry sounds like he’s a good fit for your home it’s because he probably is.

Temp foster needed from 12/31 - 1/4! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can say YES to fostering this animal! Hi, my name is Carol, and I am from Tennessee! From her foster: She loves walks and runs, does well on a leash, and has mastered some basic commands. I'm working on house training; it's a work in progress with her but she's coming along. She's good at going in crate when directed to do so, but will howl/bark for a little while before settling down. She’s wonderful with other dogs and absolutely adores people. Ace snuggler. Very sweet temperament that's on the calmer side. But also game for adventuring. I don't have cats so unsure if friendly with them but I have no reason to think she wouldn't be.

Hi, my name is Mona and I am from Oklahoma! From her foster: Meet Mona! Mona is a 7-month-old Collie/Australian Shepherd mix with a big personality and an even bigger love for people. She settled into her foster home quickly and wants to be part of everything you’re doing. Mona is very smart and has already started picking up basic commands, showing just how eager she is to learn. She loves going on walks, playing in the snow, and romping around with dogs of all sizes, especially her foster’s small dog. Mona is on the higher-energy side and will do best with an active home that can give her plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. While she can get hyped up easily, she also settles down well. She’s been doing great with potty training, has had only one accident, and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. Mona is spayed, nearly done with her meds, and ready for her forever home!

I am looking for a foster starting on 12/17! If you can say YES please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org. Hi, my name is Dakota, and I am from Tennessee! From his foster: If you're looking for a sweet, energetic companion, look no further! Dakota is the perfect blend of loveable fun and spunky energy. This happy pup has a heart of gold and loves spending time with people – whether it's playing, cuddling, or just hanging out. Belly rubs? Yes, please! Dakota can’t get enough of them and will happily roll over to show you his soft belly. He also loves long walks to explore the world, and loves the snow, so if you enjoy getting outside, he's your ideal buddy! With his fantastic personality and love for life, Dakota is ready to bring joy and laughter to your home. If you're ready to add an easy going, people-oriented, dog to your family, Dakota is here, waiting to shower you with love. Dakota has a strong prey drive and is very interested in squirrels, rabbits, and other small animals. For this reason, a cat-free home would be best as we’re unsure how he would do with cats. Dakota sleeps soundly in his crate at night, settling down quickly, but he’s a bit more vocal during the day when left alone. He eventually quiets down, but a home where he isn’t confined to a crate for long periods of time would be ideal for him. Dakota knows basic commands like "sit" and "no," and he’s working on “stay” and “off.” With a little training and consistency, he’s sure to keep growing into an even more well-behaved companion.

These pups are in Minnetrista, Minnesota too!

Story
Meet Poncho!! Intelligent, energetic and sweet, Poncho is a 2.5 yr old Border Collie mix. He has a young, happy heart and lights up like a kid on Christmas morning while playing with his ball or rope tug toy. He is loyal to his core, loving his family with everything he has. In fact, his theme song is “I’ll Stand By You” by the Pretenders. Poncho was a little too well loved in his prior home and is making progress toward achieving a healthy weight. His goal is around 50# from a current 56#. Luckily, he is excited to take his people for walks and show them around town. He pulls on leash for the first few minutes, then settles in nicely. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy strolls before or after work (or both) with this handsome lad. Like many highly intelligent dogs, Poncho wants to use his big brain in addition to getting daily exercise. He enjoys puzzle toys and working on basic obedience skills. He can’t wait to take classes and be the star pupil! His foster family is helping him learn how to relax by using a mat for downtime where he enjoys chewing on bones or working on a Kong. Poncho is a great fit for families that appreciate and understand smart, engaged herding dogs. He can live with dog-savvy kids roughly 10+, and hopes they enjoy playing fetch! He dreams of a fenced yard and is also well suited to families who keep their dogs safe on leash. He is house and kennel trained. Poncho loves life as an only dog and does well meeting new canine friends for walks and excursions. He tries to gently herd the kitty in his foster home, but we feel he would be more comfortable in a cat-free home. This special dog deserves all the love he puts into the world with his optimistic, upbeat approach to life. If you enjoy the company only a devoted dog can provide, APPLY to adopt Poncho at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Poncho is being fostered in Forest Lake, MN. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul. Poncho's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
Hi, I’m Apollo! I’m a 10 month old, 37# Border Collie mix, and I’m looking for my forever family. People say I’m adventurous, curious, smart, and friendly, and that sums me up pretty well. My favorite pastimes are collecting toys, carrying them around the house or settling down with a bully stick when I'm ready to relax. I’ve got plenty of energy, especially outside - I love to run, explore, and play, and I’m really fast! Inside, I settle down... but if you want a play break, just let me know! I’d be happiest with an active and patient family who enjoys keeping me busy and teaching me new things. A fenced yard would be heavenly, or a family dedicated to giving me safe outdoor time would work too. Kids under 10 that have had dogs before would be fun for me. While I’d enjoy having a canine sibling, I can also entertain myself. I’ve started showing some herding instincts with other dogs, so a family familiar with herding breeds is probably best. I haven’t met cats yet, but with proper introductions and training, I bet we would be friends. I’m proud to say I’m doing great with housetraining and have learned to whine at the door when it’s time to go out! I relax in my crate at night and when my foster mom has to focus for work. Sometimes I complain just a little, but it doesn’t last long. I enjoy being on a long line and am working on regular leash walking skills. My foster mom is helping me learn basic commands like sit, stay, and come (that’s my favorite one – I get to run AND get cookies at the end!). My master plan is to take my family to obedience classes so we get dedicated time together and I get to see new things, people, and other dogs. Plus, I will use my smarts to show off and get more cookies! I promise, if you give me a chance, I’ll be your best friend. You'll always be smiling when I'm around. APPLY to adopt Apollo at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Apollo is being fostered in East Bethel, MN. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Story
Hi there! My name is Pip, but you can call me Pippi Dogstocking or the Pipster, both nicknames that fit my bright, bouncy personality. I’m a 3-year-old. 34# Border Collie. My first 3 years were not ideal, but believe you me, with my new family, I will live the BEST life moving forward. I’m best described as resilient, happy, playful, affectionate, energetic, and alert. My soft, cute exterior hides a busy brain – I like to keep myself occupied. My theme song is “Jump” by Van Halen, because that’s how I show my excitement about… well, everything. My favorite things? Attention tops the list, followed closely by food, toys, and games like tug and fetch. I adore my people and want to be right in the middle of whatever is happening in my home. Because of that enthusiasm, I’m still learning about personal space and tend to jump or climb into laps uninvited. Training classes will be right up my alley, though. I’m eager to please, smart, and will absolutely shine with structure and guidance. My energy level is not for the faint of heart; I’m not off the charts but need something to do with my brain and body every day. I’d love an active, herding-breed–experienced home with a fenced yard or safe place to run so I can show off my speed. People who want to take me running, try agility or dog sports or simply believe in staying busy are perfect. A feline-free home is best; cats are a bit too interesting. A playful canine sibling would be da bomb! Older kids would be ok. Because I’m still learning not to nip and jump, littles are not a good fit. I’m housebroken with supervision and crate-trained (though I may protest with FOMO). Leash leash walking is a work in progress – it’s brand new to me! I’m gaining confidence every day. I’m on the slim side right now, working to gain a few healthy pounds with good food and love. If you’re looking for a devoted, active, joyful companion who’s ready to learn and love with her whole heart, I might just be your girl. Pip is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. APPLY TO ADOPT Pip at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Pip is being treated with a 30-day course of doxycycline for Lyme and Anaplasmosis. We do not expect any long-term effect from these conditions. Paul. Pip's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. She will be spayed and microchipped soon: her adoption fee includes the cost for these procedures. She is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. All of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
