Story
Hi! My name is Clary, and I am from Texas! Spunky, energetic, and full of love, Clary is looking for an active home where she can run, play, go on walks, and be part of everyday family life. She’s really enjoying learning to walk on a leash and exploring new places beyond the yard. Like most puppies, she gets excited, especially when she sees squirrels or rabbits. She’s settling nicely into a routine, doing well in her crate at night and for a few hours during the day when needed (tried max 4 hours so far). Clary is also making great progress with potty training, with only a few accidents in the past couple of weeks. She plays well with her sister and other dogs. She’ll make an amazing addition to a loving and active home!

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by The Wilbur Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $250.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi, my name is Ringo, and I am from Tennessee! Ringo is a special dog. He’s a male Australian Cattle Dog/Red Speckled Heeler, and true to his breed. Instead of trying to move cattle along, another dog will do! In play he will nip at my dog’s heels, which inspires her to more play and soon both dogs are rolling around, then up and racing around the obstacle course in my back yard! Ringo plays hard, but gently. He loves to jump up after squirrels and birds in the trees and bushes, so he’ll need a 5 foot or higher fence. Then with a single call “come” he responds and comes on command. He’s smart, easy to please, and will look to his person for assurance, for he experiences separation anxiety. He has progressed so much, but he will need a person with patience and is willing to help him feel less anxious. Also, a resident dog about his size (30-40 lbs) will help him become less dependent on his person. Ringo is very well behaved in the house and on walks. With training he’s learning to not react to other dogs and their people. He is very gentle with my cat and has warmed up to my 11 year old granddaughter. On a short leash he has not reacted nervously to small children. He will bark loudly at certain outside noises or when in the car and people walk by but is learning to stop barking when commanded to stop. Each day he seems to relax more as he experiences new activities and sights. He enjoys his walks and won’t wander far from your side, often checking to see you following. Training assistance has been very beneficial to Ringo. At this time a woman would be the best fit for Ringo, with slow introductions to men/boys he does not know. He definitely has a gentleness about him, and would love a forever home.

Say hello to Blaze. He came to TCHS as a transfer from another facility, so we don't know much about their history. In the past Blaze has been around dogs and did well. Slow and proper introductions to resident pets and children are always recommended when bringing a new animal into the home. Ask a TCHS staff for tips on how to ease the transition. Blaze would love to have durable toys to chew on and keep them entertained. Patient and consistent training using treats is a good way to work on obedience cues. Ask a TCHS staff about training and suggestions for the perfect toy for your new friend from the TCHS Re-Tail Shoppe. *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling 320-252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee. **Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals. Meet GoGurt, a member of the Texas Lunch Box crew! Gogurt is a playful, affectionate pup, he loves to play chase and explore new places. GoGurt is always up for an adventure and happiest when he’s on the move. He is gentle and polite when meeting new people and animals, but once he knows you… get ready for a party!! Gogurt is also quite the “collector” he loves to parade around his most recent find, whether it’s a rock, dried grass, stick, you name it, he will carry it. GoGurt loves a good nap paired with belly rubs too. 😊 Gogurt is still getting comfortable with regular mealtimes, so he’ll do best being fed separately from other animals until he feels secure. He is a smart little puppy that will do very well with consistency and training. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will keep you on your toes and grow into a great family member, GoGurt is the guy for you! Gogurt is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 05/01/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. ---- *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. Meet Hot Pocket, a member of the Texas Lunch Box crew! Hot Pocket is a big-hearted, silly pup whose main mission in life is simple: to make you smile. This playful boy is always ready for fun, whether it’s running around, sniffing the flowers (literally, he is a huge fan of flowers), or leaning into some well-earned head scratches. He’s a big baby who just wants to be close to his people, and fair warning… Hot Pocket doesn’t really have an “off” button when it comes to affection 😄 He thrives on attention and will do best in a home that can give him structure and guidance as he learns the basics, including how to settle and entertain himself. At bedtime, he might let out a few little whines if his human isn’t nearby, but once he realizes the house is settling down, he gets cozy goes to bed no problem. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion, Hot Pocket is here to save the day! Hot Pocket is from Texas. Story
Meet Dai Mar – The Gentle Gentleman with a Playful Spark! Age: 12 years (13 in August) | Breed: Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog Mix Weight:    66 lbs | Adoption Fee: $375 | Neutered: Yes Don’t let his age fool you— Dai Mar may be a senior in years, but he still has the heart (and play drive!) of a much younger pup. This sweet, easygoing guy loves squeaky toys, a good game of tug-of-war, and—most of all—being near his people. He’s the kind of companion who’ll be by your side through thick and thin, offering loyalty, love, and the occasional goofy grin. Dai Mar is friendly with everyone he meets, including other dogs, cats, and respectful kiddos. He’s potty trained with a regular routine but does have an occasional accident, hasn’t needed to be crated, preferring to spend his time near the people he loves. While he's mostly agile, he occasionally needs a little help going up and down steps—but he’s still active and enjoys moving around. He is a vocal guy when it comes to unexpected noises, so a quiet, calm home would suit him best. If you’re looking for a gentle, devoted friend with a golden heart and a playful streak, Dai Mar might be the perfect match for you. He’s ready to bring joy, love, and companionship into a home that will treasure him as much as he’ll treasure you. Ready to meet Dai Mar? Apply today and give this sweet senior the cozy, love-filled home he deserves. A s a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.)  Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine.  $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.   Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. Story
Meet Spark, a mid‑December 2025 baby with long legs, a soft heart, and a whole lot of devotion packed into his 16 pounds. This Border Collie mix is the perfect blend of silly and snuggly. He trots around with puppy confidence, playing with toys and enjoying life. When it’s time for a break, he wants to be near his people, chilling out together. Spark’s favorite thing in life is people. Dogs are fun, toys are good, but his person is everything. He plays well with the other dogs in his foster home, but he consistently chooses human companionship over canine company. He’ll be happiest with a family that enjoys a dog-friendly active lifestyle and carries a calm, easygoing energy. Think walks, exploring new places, and then relaxing together afterward. Daily exercise will keep him happy. He’s curious about the world and has already experienced car rides, new environments, suburban sights and sounds, and meeting new dogs. He’s comfortable around cats, giving them a polite sniff before moving on. Best in a home with kids roughly 10 and over. Spark is working hard on house training and does best with a predictable schedule. He needs frequent breaks at this age. Crating isn’t his favorite, but he settles best when he can see or hear his person nearby. On leash, he’s still figuring things out, primarily by following the lead of older, more experienced dogs. Spark will do well with a canine sibling and can be an only dog. Families with herding‑breed experience is preferred to help guide his bright, sensitive mind. He’ll also need support learning to be comfortable on his own, because his instinct is to stay close and be with his people. Obedience classes are required to ensure he has a solid start to a long life of going with you everywhere: he will no doubt be your best friend. If you’re looking for a devoted, leggy little shadow who will adore you endlessly, Spark is ready to light up your life. See more videos of Spark at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5ZDuP3CNniSx5VVqPczSHFQSSxH59T8I Spark is being fostered in Brooklyn Park, MN. Spark's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax. He is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. He will be neutered and microchipped at the age of roughly 6 months. The cost of this procedure is included in his adoption fee. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Story
Hi there! My name is Roxie, and I’m a one‑year‑old Border Collie mix with a big smile, a bigger heart, and 30 pounds of enthusiasm. People describe me as friendly, happy, curious, playful, energetic, and athletic. I love life, and I love sharing it with the people and dogs around me. I'm a sweetheart ready to give kisses anytime! My favorite things in the whole world are playing with my foster dog siblings, attention from humans, and, of course, food. Once I’ve had a chance to stretch my legs, I’m learning how to settle nicely in the house. I’m an active girl, so I’d be happiest with a family that enjoys getting outside and exploring. Before this thing called rescue, my life was pretty quiet and I didn’t get out a lot. My heart lies in peaceful places like parks or wooded trails. My foster family wants me to have a fabulous life, so they take me on a fun adventure every day. I’m getting braver all the time: we go to town and walk where there’s traffic and new noises, and we meet new people. It’s pretty cool. A fenced yard would be great for me, but it’s not required if my family can keep me safe on leash and let me run in a safe space. I am gentle with children who have dog experience – especially if they will rub my belly. Another friendly, playful dog in my new home is my biggest wish! Having a canine buddy gives me confidence and makes everything more fun. It’s probably best if I live in a cat-free home because I like chasing them. I’ve heard of this thing called obedience classes and can’t wait to sign up! My foster family is teaching me a lot: keeping four paws on the floor, what to chew on and they keep me on a potty training schedule that works perfectly! I’m smart and learn quickly. I’m very good in my crate, and I’m learning how to walk on a leash nicely. Car rides aren’t my favorite yet, but my foster family is helping me learn that they lead to fun adventures. One more thing: I love the water. Swimming days are the best days. If you’re looking for a joyful, affectionate, athletic young dog who’s eager to learn and excited for adventure, I think we could be a perfect match. Roxie is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. Roxie's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Story
Handsome Cap is the perfect companion! He's a 4-yr old, 47# Border Collie mix who loves his family and respects personal space. He will join you on your morning run or walk, then disappear and let you get on with your full day. He reappears at break time, ready for a bout of frisbee. He likes to stay out of your way, and is very polite. Cap will hop up onto the couch for a short time and whisper into your ear as you give him a hug. He understands 4 on the floor, sit, down, come and “hurry up,” which means he has to go potty BEFORE playing frisbee. He’s very attentive and smart, trying to figure out what you want from him, and doing his absolute best to oblige. Inside the house, Cap is chill and easy to live with, housebroken, crate trained and adapts to your schedule. If you usually get up early, he won’t wake you up when you get the chance to sleep in! He walks nicely in busy areas with cars, people, dogs, and bikes passing by. He’s not even afraid of thunder! While he does well with walks in the neighborhood, his favorite is a hike in the woods. He’s learning to walk with a loose leash at your side, making great progress until he sees a squirrel scatter by. He has strong prey drive, and would prefer to be the only animal in the house. Cap is on the shy side at first, but warms up to people in short order. He greets you enthusiastically, but politely, once he knows you. He's best suited to an adult home or one with older kids who will not pressure him to interact. He likes his space. Politeness for him goes both ways. He adores his frisbee, or rather, he adores it when you throw the frisbee for him. He’ll stare at you intently until you throw it and then deliver it back right to your feet. For inside play, he prefers a good session of tug. He’s a champ riding in a car, hopping in and settling right down. His foster mom takes him everywhere, including road trips to visit family. He loved visiting the lake and jumped right in! If you can give this boy the space he craves, including play time outside and alone-time inside, you will be rewarded with Happy Cappy smiles. Cap is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Cap's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax.
