Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by The Wilbur Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $250.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi, my name is Ringo, and I am from Tennessee! Ringo is a special dog. He’s a male Australian Cattle Dog/Red Speckled Heeler, and true to his breed. Instead of trying to move cattle along, another dog will do! In play he will nip at my dog’s heels, which inspires her to more play and soon both dogs are rolling around, then up and racing around the obstacle course in my back yard! Ringo plays hard, but gently. He loves to jump up after squirrels and birds in the trees and bushes, so he’ll need a 5 foot or higher fence. Then with a single call “come” he responds and comes on command. He’s smart, easy to please, and will look to his person for assurance, for he experiences separation anxiety. He has progressed so much, but he will need a person with patience and is willing to help him feel less anxious. Also, a resident dog about his size (30-40 lbs) will help him become less dependent on his person. Ringo is very well behaved in the house and on walks. With training he’s learning to not react to other dogs and their people. He is very gentle with my cat and has warmed up to my 11 year old granddaughter. On a short leash he has not reacted nervously to small children. He will bark loudly at certain outside noises or when in the car and people walk by but is learning to stop barking when commanded to stop. Each day he seems to relax more as he experiences new activities and sights. He enjoys his walks and won’t wander far from your side, often checking to see you following. Training assistance has been very beneficial to Ringo. At this time a woman would be the best fit for Ringo, with slow introductions to men/boys he does not know. He definitely has a gentleness about him, and would love a forever home.

I’m a sweet Southern pup who made my way from sunny Alabama up to the land of 10,000 lakes — and let me tell you, I’m loving this whole snow situation.  I may have traded biscuits for hotdish, but I’ve brought all my warm, affectionate charm with me! I’m a loving, cuddly companion who believes there’s no such thing as too many belly rubs. Kids? Love ’em. Other dogs? Let’s be friends! I’m happiest when I’m part of the action, whether that’s exploring a new trail, sniffing out a park adventure, or tagging along for a weekend road trip. I’ve got a curious nose and a brave heart — Minnesota, I’m ready for you! I’m crate trained (I like having my own cozy space), and I’m a very good listener… especially if you happen to be holding a treat. I’m highly treat-motivated — you’ve got snacks, I’ve got skills. It’s a win-win! If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who will shower you with love, keep up on adventures, and maybe need a little help picking out a winter sweater, I’m your dog. Let’s explore this big, beautiful world together!  If you are interested in meeting me, please complete an application.  I look forward to meeting you very soon!  April 24, 2026, 7:26 pm

Name: Niklas Age: Adult DOB: 6/23/24 Gender: Male Breed: Collie/Lab mix Weight: 40lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly:  Yes Child friendly: Yes House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Energy level: moderate Temperament: Shy at first then a lover Requirement: Not suited for apartment living Adoption Fee: $400+tax To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html Some dogs are still waiting for their first chance—Niklas is hoping for his last. Rescued as a stray alongside his siblings in Alabama, Niklas got a second chance when he was adopted last year. He settled into home life, learning what it means to be loved and safe. But due to an unexpected change in his family’s circumstances, they could no longer keep him—through no fault of his own. Now, this sweet boy is looking for a new beginning with a family who can give him lasting stability. And what a dog he is. Niklas loves to be petted—truly, wholeheartedly. It’s like he’s making up for lost time, soaking up every bit of affection he can get. He’s smart and eager, happily sitting for his harness and walking beautifully on leash. Out on group walks, he follows along with ease, enjoying both the adventure and the companionship. He’s wonderfully adaptable—comfortable in his crate, relaxed when roaming the house, and great with other dogs. Niklas has that special, easygoing nature that makes him a perfect addition to so many kinds of homes. Add in his handsome looks and soft, wavy coat, and it’s hard not to fall in love. Niklas says he enjoys backyard time, daily walks, and cooling off inside after a day of fun. What he’d love most, though, is a family who will take him on new adventures while helping him feel safe and confident with new people. He’s ready to love again. Ready to belong. Ready for his true forever. Please fill out an application and come meet Niklas—you just might be the happy ending he’s been waiting for.    April 24, 2026, 7:26 pm

Story
Meet Coraline (Cora), A bright and joyful 4-month-old Red Heeler mix with a big personality packed into a puppy-sized body! This sweet girl’s favorite place to be is as close to you as possible, preferably attempting to squeeze herself right onto your lap for snuggles. Cora is a smart pup who is already potty trained and comfortable in her crate, giving her a fantastic head start for her age. Like any young puppy, she’s still learning the meaning of “no,” but her eagerness to please and quick mind make her a great student. When it comes to meeting new people, Cora’s enthusiasm shines, she’ll happily bounce up to say hello and share her excitement. With a little continued training, she’ll polish those greetings into perfect manners. She loves squeaky toys, chasing balls, and true to puppy form, has a soft spot for shoes if they’re left within reach! Cora ignores cats and would do wonderfully in a home with children who can match her playful, affectionate energy. She also sports a docked tail and a unique ear coloring that makes her stand out in the cutest way. If you’re looking for a loving, clever, and spirited companion who will keep you smiling every day, Coraline is ready to wiggle her way right into your heart, and your lap! 🐾 All CSHS pups are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative (if older than 6 months), dewormed and microchipped. Story
From the Ship's log of the Black Pearl It has been four months since we last saw land. The crew and I are anxious to find what we hope to be our new forever home. The journey began under dark and foreboding skies and was at times terribly lonesome, but the weather improved a few weeks ago and it's been smooth sailing and fun on deck ever since. With the recent warm weather and favorable winds, we have traveled far and learned a lot. I'm now ship (house) trained, and can go up and down the companionways (stairs). I've mastered sit, working on lay down, and my instructor says I'll have all of my basic commands down by the time we reach port. Did I mention that I've also become crate trained and love the safety and security it provides. When we arrive I hope there will be many long walks and trips to the dog parks as I love making new friends. I'm very social and when I use my play bow to initiate play it works almost every time. I'm told that I have an average amount of zoomies for a pup my age and will thrive in an environment that is puppy friendly and has the time to teach me the ways of the world. On that note, I respond very well to positive reinforcement and I'm very sensitive so raised voices and immersion therapy aren't the best ways to teach and communicate with me. After the turbulent start I'm a little sensitive and shy to new experiences and extra time and understanding will help speed up my full recovery. I'm growing very fast at this point and currently about 5 months old. I'm part Heeler and my foster dad thinks I might have some hound in me as well. But that doesn't really matter. What does is that I'm going to be the best dog you've ever had. I'm very affectionate, gentle and loyal. I'm smart, kind, and will do my best to fill your life with as much joy as I can every day. I'm looking for a fur-ever home that has a lot of love to give and share. If you think we'd be a good fit please fill out the application forms, I'd love to meet you and tell you why my middle name is Spaghetti. All CSHS pups are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative (if older than 6 months), dewormed and microchipped. Story
Meet Elsie, your loyal shadow, adventure buddy, and professional snuggler 💛 Elsie is a stunning, intelligent girl with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. She absolutely thrives in a home with other dogs. She loves to play, wrestle, and then curl up for cozy naps with her canine friends. While she didn’t start out as a cat fan, her best friend is a cat named Hector and in a new home (and proper introductions) Elsie can adjust to cats with a little time and patience. This sweet girl is deeply devoted to her people. She wants to be by your side through everything, whether you’re relaxing on the couch, working around the house, or even trying to load the dishwasher (she insists on supervising!). Personal space? Elsie’s never heard of it and honestly, she thinks it’s overrated. Elsie is incredibly smart and very food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. She already knows a long list of cues like sit, down, shake, leave it, watch me, and even a few fun ones like “raise the roof!” She learns quickly and loves having a job to do. Keeping her mentally engaged, through training, play, or long walks, will help her shine. She’s also an active girl who enjoys running and has even tried canicross, pulling is her thing! She’s currently working on loose leash walking and does great when given guidance and focus cues like “watch me” or “easy.” At home, she loves zooming around the yard, watching squirrels, playing in the hose, and stretching out into her signature “frog dog” pose. Elsie does have a sensitive side and is looking for a confident, patient home that will help her feel safe and supported. She can be wary of new people, especially men, but with slow, proper introductions and consistency, she warms up and becomes affectionate (face kisses included!). Because of this, she’ll do best with a family that can advocate for her space and provide structure when guests visit. She’s very in tune with her environment and can be alert, sometimes taking on a “guard dog” role, but this is simply part of her nature, not aggression. She may also try to “herd” with gentle nipping at times (a common cattle dog trait), but she redirects well with guidance. Elsie is kennel trained (she’ll happily go in when you say “kennel” or “dinner”) and does best eating separately, as she has shown some food guarding with other dogs in the past. With this simple management, she’s done wonderfully. Elsie’s ideal home: Another playful dog (or dogs!) to be her best friend A patient, confident adopter committed to helping her navigate new experiences A home that will provide structure, mental stimulation, and lots of love Someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to earn it In return, Elsie will give you unwavering loyalty, endless companionship, and plenty of laughs with her quirky, loving personality. She is truly something special and she’s just waiting for the right person to see it. 💕 All CSHS pups are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative (if older than 6 months), dewormed and microchipped.
