Story
I am looking for a foster or forever family! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can say YES to fostering this animal! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by The Wilbur Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $250.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi, my name is Ringo, and I am from Tennessee! Ringo is a special dog. He’s a male Australian Cattle Dog/Red Speckled Heeler, and true to his breed. Instead of trying to move cattle along, another dog will do! In play he will nip at my dog’s heels, which inspires her to more play and soon both dogs are rolling around, then up and racing around the obstacle course in my back yard! Ringo plays hard, but gently. He loves to jump up after squirrels and birds in the trees and bushes, so he’ll need a 5 foot or higher fence. Then with a single call “come” he responds and comes on command. He’s smart, easy to please, and will look to his person for assurance, for he experiences separation anxiety. He has progressed so much, but he will need a person with patience and is willing to help him feel less anxious. Also, a resident dog about his size (30-40 lbs) will help him become less dependent on his person. Ringo is very well behaved in the house and on walks. With training he’s learning to not react to other dogs and their people. He is very gentle with my cat and has warmed up to my 11 year old granddaughter. On a short leash he has not reacted nervously to small children. He will bark loudly at certain outside noises or when in the car and people walk by but is learning to stop barking when commanded to stop. Each day he seems to relax more as he experiences new activities and sights. He enjoys his walks and won’t wander far from your side, often checking to see you following. Training assistance has been very beneficial to Ringo. At this time a woman would be the best fit for Ringo, with slow introductions to men/boys he does not know. He definitely has a gentleness about him, and would love a forever home.

Story
Birdie is a sweet, gentle puppy who is discovering the good life of having a home. When she's not catching up on her beauty sleep, you'll find Birdie happily entertaining herself with her favorite toys, lounging on the outdoor dog bed, or trying her very best to convince the resident dog that it's time to play. She's also found comfort in her kennel, which has become her safe place. She loves to stash her favorite toys there and regularly make sure they all still squeak. New dogs can be intimidating for Birdie at first, so she benefits from slow introductions. Her initial reaction may be to cower or let out a few barks in an effort to make the "scary thing" go away, but once she realizes she's safe, she relaxes quickly and wants to play. Birdie enjoys being in the family chaos, often choosing a prime spot on the couch to observe. Like any puppy, Birdie has bursts of playful energy, followed by cozy naps. She loves attention, whether that means playing with her people or curling up for cuddles. She's generally a calm and quiet companion. You might hear some playful or nervous barks, but she calms down with some guidance. Birdie loves people and other dogs she knows, but continued positive experiences with canine friends will help build her confidence and overcome her initial hesitation. Birdie would be happy in a home with another animal companion, but would also be perfectly happy being the only pet. Birdie is a sweet girl who is ready to give all her love. Birdie is estimated to be 5 months old and 26 lbs. Since we dont know the dogs actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, and have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. This little shadow loves being close to her people and will happily follow you from room to room. Her favorite place to be is outside, where she can stretch out in the grass, soak up the sunshine, and chase butterflies around the yard. Reba is a smart girl who is already learning commands such as “no,” “sit,” “inside,” and “lay down.” She is doing wonderfully with potty training and is sleeping through the night in her kennel with only minimal potty breaks. She’s also a great listener and is eager to learn. Like many young puppies, she is still working on keeping all four paws on the ground, walking politely on a leash, and not nipping when she gets overly excited. When she’s not exploring the backyard, Reba enjoys chewing on bones, playing tug-of-war, munching on treats, and carrying around stuffed animals—especially if they happen to belong to the kids! She absolutely adores her foster dog sibling and spends much of her time running alongside her, roughhousing, and following her wherever she goes. Reba is currently living in a home with two young children, a resident dog, and a cat, and she has access to a large fenced backyard where she loves to wander and play. Because she is still learning boundaries and can get excited, she would likely do best with a family with older children who can help reinforce her training and continue building her confidence. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and outdoorsy companion who will be your constant sidekick, Reba may be the perfect addition to your family!   About Me:  Hi! My name is Reba.  I’m a fun, energetic girl who loves being with my people. Since I was found as a stray, I spent much of my early life outdoors, so it’s still my favorite place to be. You’ll usually find me soaking up the sunshine, running around the yard with my foster sister, chasing butterflies, or happily chewing on a bone. One of my favorite things to do is sit at my foster parents’ feet and look up at them. They give the best pets, tell me what a “good girl” I am, and make me feel so loved. I’m a smart pup and have learned that when I hear “sit” or “kennel up,” I usually earn a tasty treat. I’m learning new things every day and can’t wait to keep showing everyone what a good girl I can be. I’m so excited to find my forever family—one that will love me as much as I’ll love them. I can’t wait to meet you!   August 5, 2026, 10:52 pm

Story
Welcome Kai to CCPAL Rescue foster program.  Kai is a very sweet girl, she is just about 1 year old. She is a German Shepherd/Smooth Collie (BorderCollie)  She weighs about 60 pounds and should stay medium sized.  She is good on a leash, good with other dogs.  She is mostly with her sister in her foster home.  She uses a doggy door and is good on leash and in a car.  She is fully potty trained and very smart.  She is good with children and likes toys.  She would be best with someone that is active and outdoorsy.  She would be fine as an only dog or would be good with another dog.  She will be a fun one to train.  She has good eye contact and attention to who is speaking with her.  She has one upright ear and one that is not.  She is getting her vaccinations and will be spayed and ready for her forever home.  She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast.  She would be a great family companion and could go with children.  We like children to be 8 or older.  Please be patient when you put in your application. Adoption fee for Kia is $400 and transport is $200.  This is a very desirable breed mix.   We are being very careful in vetting people and we are a small group of volunteers. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Monty is a great name for a great dog like me ;) I have the Monty Python kind of humor... goofy and sweet! But, don't mess with my crate! That really is my only "pet: peeve!! I was found on the streets 2 years ago and was adopted as a pup... however, I became the boss in the house and didn't like anyone entering the house that I didn't know :( SO..... Back to the rescue, because they won't give up on me!! So here I am and I have really adjusted to the environment and new people meeting me and treats and lots of love. AND the crew here basically has determined that I need a family/adopters that will be in charge of the house. Someone I can trust to protect me so I don't have to!! I am vocal in my crate, so my crate needs to be away from the common areas so I can relax and not meet everyone that stops by. Once I settle into my new home I will follow your lead! I am a gorgeous boy, with caramel and milk chocolate highlights in my soft fur. I want to please my family and go on all kinds of adventures! I am awesome out and about, meeting new people and new friends :D I hope you will look into my eyes, the windows to my soul, and see the HOPE I have to find my own home again! The rescue is great because I got a second chance, but I REALLY want a home!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Story
Meet Elsie, your loyal shadow, adventure buddy, and professional snuggler 💛 Elsie is a stunning, intelligent girl with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. She absolutely thrives in a home with other dogs. She loves to play, wrestle, and then curl up for cozy naps with her canine friends. Her best friend is a cat named Hector and in a new home (and proper introductions) Elsie can adjust to cats with a little time and patience. This sweet girl is deeply devoted to her people. She wants to be by your side through everything, whether you’re relaxing on the couch, working around the house, or even trying to load the dishwasher (she insists on supervising!). Personal space? Elsie’s never heard of it and honestly, she thinks it’s overrated. Elsie is incredibly smart and very food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. She already knows a long list of cues like sit, down, shake, leave it, watch me, and even a few fun ones like “raise the roof!” She learns quickly and loves having a job to do. Keeping her mentally engaged, through training, play, or long walks, will help her shine. She’s also an active girl who enjoys running and has even tried canicross, pulling is her thing! She’s currently working on loose leash walking and does great when given guidance and focus cues like “watch me” or “easy.” At home, she loves zooming around the yard, watching squirrels, playing in the hose, and stretching out into her signature “frog dog” pose. Elsie does have a sensitive side and is looking for a confident, patient home that will help her feel safe and supported. She can be wary of new people, especially men, but with really yummy treats, slow, proper introductions and consistency, she warms up and becomes affectionate (face kisses included!). Because of this, she’ll do best with a family that can advocate for her space and provide structure when guests visit. Elsie is kennel trained (she’ll happily go in when you say “kennel” or “dinner”) and does best eating separately. Elsie’s ideal home: - Another playful dog (or dogs!) to be her best friend - A patient, confident adopter committed to helping her navigate new experiences - A home that will provide structure, mental stimulation, and lots of love - Someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to earn it - In return, Elsie will give you unwavering loyalty, endless companionship, and plenty of laughs with her quirky, loving personality. She is truly something special and she’s just waiting for the right person to see it. 💕 All CSHS pups are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative (if older than 6 months), dewormed and microchipped.
