Story
Hi, my name is Mona and I am from Oklahoma! From her foster: Meet Mona! Mona is a 7-month-old Collie/Australian Shepherd mix with a big personality and an even bigger love for people. She settled into her foster home quickly and wants to be part of everything you’re doing. Mona is very smart and has already started picking up basic commands, showing just how eager she is to learn. She loves going on walks, playing in the snow, and romping around with dogs of all sizes, especially her foster’s small dog. Mona is on the higher-energy side and will do best with an active home that can give her plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. While she can get hyped up easily, she also settles down well. She’s been doing great with potty training, has had only one accident, and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. Mona is spayed, nearly done with her meds, and ready for her forever home!

Story
Hi, my name is Ringo, and I am from Tennessee! From his foster: Ringo is a sweet young dog. He is quiet, gentle and submissive. He approaches new people and things cautiously, head down, until he figures out the situation. Then his tail starts slowly wagging and he comes over for some pets. Ringo will take quickly to some training. He’s a smart boy who’s a good listener. He runs to you when he’s called, and doesn’t like to be too far out of your view when he’s out in the yard. He enjoys hanging out with my resident dog. While Ringo’s social skills are a little awkward at his young age, he gives things a try. He responds nicely to any feedback he gets from my dog, and either backs off or starts to play, depending on the vibe. He has been playing nicely with my dog outside. Taking turns chasing each other, doing play bows, rolling on the ground to let the other dog wrestle with him, and vice versa. Ringo has not been around cats or kids yet. On walks, he is protective of me when he sees other dogs and people, but he responds really well to redirection and praise when he feels safe. He is a loving dog who wants to be with his people and be happy!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $250 plus taxMeet Finn Finn is an 8-year-old, 50-lb mellow guy who loves napping, short walks, and hanging out near his people. He enjoys toys (especially if treats are involved!), can be cuddly, and also appreciates his personal space. Finn is anxious around loud noises and reactive when he sees other dogs, so he’s looking for a quiet home where he can be the only pet. He hasn’t lived with cats but has ignored chickens. He greets people calmly outside the home and politely “announces” visitors with a bark. He does best with a predictable routine and would thrive in a home where someone is around more often—his current home’s 12-hour shifts are just too hard on him. Respectful children are fine. Finn is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and eats a prescription urinary diet. If you’re looking for a loyal, laid-back companion, Finn is ready to meet you.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history. //

Yet through it all, Journey’s heart remained gentle, hopeful, and full of love. Journey is friendly, affectionate, and playful, with a soft, loving nature that makes her impossible not to adore. She does great with other dogs and kids, and has a beautiful balance of curiosity and calm. She’s the kind of girl who will happily explore the world with you and then settle in close, just to be sure she’s exactly where she belongs. Story
Sweet Maisie is a 6-year-old, 36# Border Collie with a heart as gentle as her big brown eyes. She is the perfect mid-sized companion who enjoys cuddling, walks, and hanging with her people. Affectionate and friendly with everyone she meets, Maisie greets visitors politely and loves being part of the family. The most remarkable thing about Maisie is her incredible intuition. She looks deep into your eyes and connects with you on a level that only a special canine companion can. This beauty is always ready for a stroll or time patrolling the backyard. Once inside, she is well-behaved and easy to live with. When it’s time to relax, she is right at your feet or waiting to be invited beside you on the couch, happy to soak up affection. Trustworthy loose in the house, and will crate if needed. Entertains herself nicely and loves a good chew bone. Maisie is doing very well on leash. #1 on her wish list is a fenced yard where she can watch the world and sniff to her heart's content. She is learning that car rides lead to fun new places. Maisie is a smart girl who picks up new routines easily. She’s building confidence every day and would thrive with a family that enjoys peaceful walks, quiet companionship, and plenty of love. Older kids who are kind and gentle would suit her just fine. She is good with other dogs and meets them politely on walks. Maisie lives with another dog in her foster home, and would enjoy a companionable canine roommate. She could also be an only dog. With the most loving heart you could ask for, Maisie is ready to bring warmth and joy to her forever home. She is being fostered in Richfield, MN. APPLY TO ADOPT Maisie at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul. Maisie's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. All of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. Story
Hi there! My name is Pip, but you can call me Pippi Dogstocking or the Pipster, both nicknames that fit my bright, bouncy personality. I’m a 3-year-old. 36# Border Collie. My first 3 years were not ideal, but believe you me, with my new family, I will live the BEST life moving forward. I’m best described as resilient, happy, playful, affectionate, energetic, and alert. My soft, cute exterior hides a busy brain – I like to keep myself occupied. My theme song is “Jump” by Van Halen, because that’s how I show my excitement about… well, everything. My favorite things? Attention tops the list, followed closely by food, toys, and games like tug and fetch. I adore my people and want to be right in the middle of whatever is happening in my home. Because of that enthusiasm, I’m still learning about personal space and tend to jump or climb into laps uninvited. Training classes will be right up my alley, though. I’m eager to please, smart, and will absolutely shine with structure and guidance. My energy level is not for the faint of heart; I’m not off the charts but need something to do with my brain and body every day. I’d love an active, herding-breed–experienced home with a fenced yard or safe place to run so I can show off my speed. People who want to take me running, try agility or dog sports or simply believe in staying busy are perfect. A feline-free home is best; cats are a bit too interesting. A playful canine sibling would be da bomb! School aged kids who are gentle and kind are a good fit for me. I’m housebroken with supervision and crate-trained (though I may protest with FOMO). Leash leash walking is a work in progress – it’s brand new to me! I’m gaining confidence every day. I’m on the slim side right now, working to gain a few healthy pounds with good food and love. If you’re looking for a devoted, active, joyful companion who’s ready to learn and love with her whole heart, I might just be your girl. Pip is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. APPLY TO ADOPT Pip at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Pip is being treated with a 30-day course of doxycycline for Lyme and Anaplasmosis. We do not expect any long-term effect from these conditions. Story
If “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles is your vibe, you definitely want to meet Meg, a 7 yr old, 37# Border Collie. She is the kind of dog who quietly brightens every room she enters. She’s sunshine wrapped in fur… a devoted snuggle bug, loyal shadow, and best friend all rolled into one. Meg’s favorite thing in the world is her person. She loves soft dog beds, gentle pets, and simply enjoying life together. She has calm energy and an easygoing personality perfect for a relaxed household. She would thrive in a family that enjoys daily walks around the neighborhood coupled with plenty of time together: playing or working in the yard, hanging together while her person works from home, or simply being part of everyday life. Meg is reliably housebroken and can be crated if needed, though she’s trustworthy loose in the house. She follows her people from room to room, content just to be near them. She doesn’t require a fenced yard but we know she would really enjoy having one. She is a bit timid on leash, getting better every day. Positive, upbeat encouragement means the world to her. Making people happy gives her a visible boost. She would prefer a suburban or rural home over a busy urban environment. Observing the activity from her foster home’s backyard is like TV for Meg – there’s a walking path behind the house. She takes it all in stride. Meg is suited to a home with kids roughly 10+ who have lived with dogs in the past. She would be happy as an only dog or could also enjoy a calm canine companion. Cats should be a-ok: she lived with them in her prior home. Meg is incredibly easy to live with. Gentle, loyal, and loving. If you’re searching for a steady, devoted companion who will bring warmth and peace to your life, Meg is ready to be your sunshine! Meg is being fostered in Shoreview, MN. APPLY TO ADOPT Meg at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit.
