Story
Hi, I’m Sammy. I’m a collie beagle mix born approximately 3/17/21. I have the legs of a collie, but the beagle side of my personality is what comes out the most when it comes to sniffing. When I came to NDLB I was heartworm-positive and had a skin issue. I just finished my heartworm treatments and as you can tell from my pictures my fur has grown back beautifully. I get complimented on my coloring a lot when out for walks. Once I decide you’re my human I will stick to you like glue. I do well with my foster parent's dogs but sometimes if they are playing, I will mistake it for aggression and growl. I quickly stop if told no. Other than that, I get along great with them. I would be a great only dog since I love my humans. I go to the office with my foster mom and do well with all the customers that come in and the pesky office cats I just ignore. I’m quiet as far as barking unless I see deer or other critters on my walk. I sleep well all night on a dog bed in my foster parent's bedroom. I prefer not to be in a crate.  I do have separation issues when my foster mom leaves me at home and I have escaped from the house twice but as soon as she pulled up, I was right there by the car. This might be because I go to the office with her every day but it is something that needs to be considered. My foster parents think I’m super smart and maybe training and longer daily walks or a fenced-in yard would help with the separation issues.  I’m a very happy girl and love my walks but also don’t mind a good snuggle on the couch or right by your feet. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $395.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:33 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   This is Otto, who will be coming to MN in December to start his new life! As the longest resident of an animal shelter in KY, we're so happy we're able to give him a new start up north. He's said to be 4-5 years old and between 60-70lbs. Otto originally arrived to the KY shelter 2-3 years ago as part of a court case, and during his time there, he's gotten to be a favorite and plays well with other dogs. Otto has long legs, so he may have some lab or shepherd breeding in him too... who knows! When he arrives in MN and settles into his foster home, we'll update his bio with more info! Interested in adopting? Please complete an interest form on our website here. If you are viewing this listing on PETFINDER there is often MORE INFO ON and MORE PICS OF the animal DIRECTLY ON OUR WEBSITE. http://redemptionroadrescue.rescuegroups.org *Adoption fees range from $525-$650, depending on the individual animal* redemptionroad.mn@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/RedemptionRoadRescue  All animals fully vetted appropriate for age: spayed/neutered, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (@12 months or older), microchipped with lifetime registration, dewormed, flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention.  *Since we typically don't know a rescue dog' actual genetics, their breed and estimated size when grown on their bio is just an educated guess based on information ond observations we have.*  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 26, 2024, 5:34 pm

These babies were brought to us after a lady’s neighbor left the pregnant mama. She kept the mom but could not keep her babies. This is a fun group of pups! They get along with strangers, kids and other dogs. They do well in a crate, usually just go to sleep. They would do well on hikes or other outside adventures. They are in a puppy teething mode so beware of fingers!! They are in need of all basic puppy training and just loads of love! A wonderful addition to any family. She is currently being fostered in TN but we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there! I'm Rhys, a sweet and cuddly Great Pyr Mix. I'm a handsome boy, weighing in at 45 pounds and still a puppy, so I'm growing and learning every day! At home, I'm all about the cuddles. Whether it's on the couch, bed, your lap (even though I'm a bit big for that), or basking in a sunny spot, I'm happiest when I'm close to my humans. I'm also quite playful with other dogs – I love a good game of chase and splashing around in a kiddy pool. I might be a bit clumsy, but I've mastered the art of tucking and rolling when I tumble – hee hee! Belly rubs are my favorite, and I'm always ready to give you lots of kisses when you need them. I'm almost potty trained – just need to stick to a good schedule. I'm getting better with my crate, too. I might bark a bit at first, but I settle down quickly. I'm still working on my leash skills, but I go for daily walks and enjoy them. I know some basic commands like "sit" and "down." I'm great with other dogs of all sizes, and while I love having doggy friends, I could be happy as an only dog too, as long as I'm not left alone for long periods. In fact, I would thrive with other dogs in my forever home so hope you have some playmates for me. All in all, I'm a low-energy, affectionate pup looking for my forever home where I can continue to grow, learn, and share all my love. Could that be with you? *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  T his puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hey, I’m Varian! If you are looking for a dog with brains, beauty and brawn, I may be just the guy for you. It is obvious I am a big boy but that doesn't mean I’m not a lap dog! I love to curl up as tiny as possible and sit right in your lap. I’m a young guy at about 10 months old and weigh around 50 lbs, with a little mix of Pyrenees, Husky and maybe a few other things! My foster family says I’m a mellow dude for my age, and I’ve fit in nicely with the older resident dogs. I love to snuggle up with my people and go on walks (or a good run!), where I might keep an eye out for squirrels and other curious creatures. My people tell me I’m a "Velcro dog" because I love staying close—I’m a big fan of being near my humans! I’m smart and eager to learn, especially with treats as motivation. I already know “sit,” and I’d be super excited to keep learning more commands with you. Because of my mix of breeds, I can be a little protective, especially around new people, so I’d do best in a calm, adults-only home where I can focus on bonding with my family and building trust. Just so you know, I am scared of some men so would need some patience and time to be friends. Walks are one of my favorite things, though I’m still learning not to pull so much. A fenced yard would be ideal, too, since I’m a bit of a flight risk if I get spooked by something unfamiliar. I’m working on my potty training and getting pretty good at signaling when I need to go out. And while I haven’t made peace with those fluffy cats, I get along great with other dogs, especially when they respect my need for space sometimes. A canine buddy who can keep up with me would be awesome! I’m a bit of a softie with droopy ears and eyes that (I’m told) make it hard to say no to me. If you’re looking for a smart, cuddly, and adventurous buddy, I could be just the guy you need. Let’s meet—I can’t wait to find my forever family! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Nana has been in foster care with a MARS staff member since Aug 2021. During this time Nana has been working on all her life skills, with the help of our trainer.  At her annual exam on 6/7/22 she tested positive for heartworm. She went through heartworm treatment with flying colors. She has been retested for heartworm and is now negative. She needs to remain on monthly heartworm prevention, year round, for the rest of her life. Nana came to MARS with some significant fear based reactivity, stranger danger and trust issues. With the dedication of her foster and trainer she has improved dramatically and is ready to find her FOREVER home.  Nana will need to continue using these newly mastered life skills in her new home with a calm and confident human leader. MARS will provide training with her adopter during the transition.  While Nana is able to live in a townhome she would do best without shared walls as she does get vocal when she hears the door bell, loud noises, sees dogs or sees/hears people outside. Nana would LOVE a home with a big fenced yard that she can safely run around and have the zoomies. She loves to chill outside during the warm months! Once you are one of her trusted people she is sweet and cuddly and just wants to be with you. She would prefer to be the only pet in her new home.   If you are interested in learning more about Nana please complete an application! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
This is Banjo! He’s a Husky born 8/27/22. Banjo is a sweet & smart dog, who does great with other dogs, loves toys & shows no issues towards adults or children.  He craves attention & interaction. He has been around dogs of all sizes & cats, even though he did bark at cats. He is learning to walk on a leash. Since he doesn't have a lot of confidence, should be tethered carefully outside of a fenced yard, as he doesn't always come when called.  He only barks when other dogs bark. Banjo has been submissive to senior dogs. He is not highly food or treat motivated, so training to come inside or go into the kennel is a work in progress. Once in his kennel, he does very well & sleeps quietly all night. He does well in the car too! An active family would be the best for this young man, who still has much to learn & is eager to please! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Unfortunately, her foster has some upcoming obligations and cannot keep her long term, so we need someone who is willing to take her the distance. Katie will do best in a home with a four legged sibling to continue to help her grow and shine.  She loves walks and to run so would be a great running partner for someone. She enjoys toys and cuddles with the people she trusts.  If you are new to her, give her a few minutes to let her check you out.  Once she feels safe, she is yours for life. House Broken Kennel trained Walks great on a leash Good with Dogs and cats Older children over 12 are fine.  Very young kids move too much and too fast. Chin Scratches are the best Katie is a teenager who’s mastering the ropes of being a family dog, so she is still learning to just be okay no matter what sounds might be scary or that new people are just people and nothing to worry about. The perfect home for Katie will understand that a little bit of patience goes a long way, and they will find joy in seeing her personality blossom.  The right environment will see her flourish into a perfect member of the family, and her rescue community can’t wait to see her succeed. Potential fosters or adopters should be willing to invest time in building a strong bond with Katie. A gradual introduction to new experiences and people, along with positive reinforcement training. Having a confident dog in her new home would be a great benefit to her as she can learn from them to trust the humans around her. //
